Considering Qunari get a 10% defense to Melee, Warrior would benefit most.

2Hand Warrior. Fits them perfectly.

In a game like this, there is 'no best class' - play what sounds like fun.

Qunari 2 handed warrior (especially a Champion "tank" warrior) makes a lot of sense, but a Qunari Rogue could be a more agile skirmisher than a brute force kind of mercenary like the warrior. Mage is obvious.

Take a look at your attributes once you remove all gear and are by your lonesome so there are no buffs, you will find the Qunari actually has 25% melee defense even though we have been told 10%. If this is a bug, I hope Bioware do not fix it.

I could have sworn that it said 25% melee defense right there on the character creation screen.

Nada, which is what I find funny, every info release they put out says 10%, character creation says 10%, in game stats say 25%. Elf is 25% range, Dwarf is 25% magic but the Qunari for some reason is suppose to be 10%. Glad the in game stats are 25%, does not make sense for it to be 10% when the other two races get 25%.

I'm playing a female Qunari dual-wielding rogue. I'm not very far along in the story, but I've found it an interesting role-play so far to be sort of a feared "outsider" thrown into the events, not really sure herself why she's there. In combat she's a big, strong, flurry of blades from out of the shadows.

Thank you for all the suggestions guys! I have a Qunari archer which is quite interesting, feel like his 10 or 25% melee defense is going to waste though.
I was considering playing as a Male Qunari DW Rogue, but in the pictures the daggers look like kitchen cutlery in the Male Qunari Inquisitors hands, has anyone played as the male version? Does it look silly or is it actually right? Thanks.

Maybe it is just a visual bug and it is supposed to be 25% but they got it all mixed up.

Have not played a male, Dual Wield rogue, but tried a female once, made some sense, but the daggers looked somewhat like shortswords, which I think they are meant to be.

I love my mage Qunari, as the mages of the Qun are even more oppressed then the human and elven counterparts, she is super pro mage freedom and has become a knight enchanter in order to take advantage of her natural vitality and strength.

Mechanics wise mage is the best by far. Mage has the lowest base damage but qunari helmets add equal amount of damage for anyone. For mage this translates in like 25-30% increase in dps which can get crazy with all the multipliers and elemental damage. Melee res is somewhat wasted since even as KE you run on barrier mostly but who cares. Can help a couple of times in some tight situations though. Melee rogue is close second for similar reasons (also benefits from melee res a lot).

As I said before, Qunari Warrior two handed seems the best fit by far, but a Dual Wield rogue is close (I am currently playing a Qunari Female rogue who will dual wield).

I would say Warrior or DW Rogue, close combat classes. Otherwise that 10% melee defense racial bonus would serve no purpose.
25% not 10%. It says 10% but in game it is 25%, thought we already established that.. The 25% can be useful for a knight enchanter who will be in the thick of it, or an archer for when they get too close, there is no limit to the racial bonus' use you just need to think outside the warrior or dual wielding rogue.

I'll also say that in my experience with the DA series a SnS Warrior Tank is always a good thing to have for a main character over the Two Hnded Warrior (Two Handed dies too easily in this game especially due to the lack of Con building skill) and considering Qunari have an extra Melee Defense it makes them more durable Tanks.

Not necessarily. It helps inexperienced ranged players when they accidentally aggro an enemy.

Mage Knight Enchanter, hands down OP as far as fighting goes. KE suffers from knock backs and disables, the melee damage mitigation on Qunari helps with this, also as mentioned earlier the Vitaar boost your DPS, which is what Spirit Blade uses to boost total damage.

Race bonuses are just that, bonuses. They don't really make a huge impact on the game so pick whatever class you like.

The creation screen says +10% physical damage resist. But in game is +25% melee defence.

FYI I decided on playing a male Qunari Archer in the end and I'm enjoying it. Still trying to decide what my specialisation should be however. Again, any suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated, thanks.

it's kind of funny to imagine them being stealthy with their big lumbering bodies.
imagine if a qunari rogue became a darkspawn ogre... that'd be brutally terrifying.

Mage.
Qunari helmets provide flat damage increase. The class that has the highest damage % skills are mages. So increasing base damage by a flat amount will yield the best results on a mage. Walking bomb for example, if all damage ticks and explodes before death is 2600% weapon damage. Fire Mine is 3200%. Imagine an extra 14 damage or higher when staffs will barely clear 100 base damage. That is a huge damage adjustment.
Sorry for reviving an old thread.
