Hmm...

Some wardens are sacrificed already for the demon army. 1 demon = 1 warden. So an army would mean a lot of wardens killed by their own. There were also "sane" Wardens who refused to follow Clarel's orders and backed out to the Inquisition army. And, this is only the Wardens of Orlais, I think Fereldan Wardens are not involved IIRC?

I do agree somewhat though, from my personal POV, that it's a little bit unfair. The animations could have been better designed, they look really cartoon-ish. E.G.

1. an Inquisition soldier climbed up a ladder, and 2. that fully armored Warden just stands there like he's caught stealing his Mom's money, 3. he's dead by just ONE swing from that soldier who just climbed the ladder. 4. The Warden could have cut off the Inquisition's soldier head while he was climbing... the animations makes me cringe--so much potential for action yet most people are just "OMGOMGOMG /lookleft/lookright AAAH D8"

Is it one demon per warden or "One Warden sacrificed to awaken the Blood Magic powers of a Warden Mage?"

Well... based on what I recall from the

1. Scene in Western Approach. This reluctant Warden gets sacrificed and a Rage Demon popped out. The Warden Mage binds it.

2. Clarel killing either a senior Warden or Jana, a Pride Demon popped out and then several Warden Mages tried to bind it IIRC.

True, but we know blood mages can pop out multiple demons and the Warden Mages have their own little arm marks.

I just replayed Adamant.

Guys...

The Grey Wardens kick the Inquisition's ass.

Cullen says they will be able to buy the Inquisitor time but they can't win.

Aye, we're told that after a demon throws down a Inquisition soldier. However, beyond that instance, we're not shown that in any way, shape or form. The animated intro sequence to the siege clearly showed the Wardens getting their tainted behinds handed to them. Didn't really make much sense that the Wardens would have been able to win given what we were shown.

If you don't show the player how pressing the situation is then it loses its significance, imo. I really dislike it when such narrative is relegated to offscreen.

You have to remember that the Hero of Ferelden/us was an unbelievably special snowflake, defeating the Blight and the the aftermath in less than two years, whereas the others took decades. The vast majority of Wardens are conscripts or volunteers. They only accept those who might survive the Joining. Skill and capability must have a role when recruiting, as they have to fight monsters, but I imagine it was only chance that we survived the Joining.

Most of the wardens were probably recruit of the same levels as HOF after being recruited by Duncan. It is possible even that a lot of them were not even true wardens, like the soldiers at Vigil Keep.

I very much doubt many if any Grey Wardens are on par with the HoF at in point in their life as a warrior at any point in theirs.

Yeah, the issue isn't one of what the story actually is, but the cinematics and gameplay that represent it.
