I sacrificed my self at the end of the game to save my companions.
Since I am DEAD, will I be able to use my Character in the New Expansion pack
coming out for the 360, in March. Will I be able to use the Character
that I created and put 100 hours of game play into, and then KILLED
myself for the good of the group in the new Expansion pack coming out
in March?? Or will I need to load an older save file and play through
to the end and let someone else kill themselves??
I want to be able to play with the character I created in the orginal game and move him over to the Expansion Pack for the 360, along with all my Items.  I want to be ready though, so if killing myself at the end does not allow me to play with my character in the Expansion Pack, then I will load an old save and let someone else fall on the blade, ie stab the dragon in the head.
Any Clues??
Thanks

I think i heard somewhere you can transfer over your dead character into Awakening - however, s/he's still dead, the decisions you made during your playthrough of Dragon Age:Origins will carry over... I think, unless Bioware pull another Com. Shepard move.

Your DA:O character will be dead. You'll get to make a new character, and all the choices you made with your previous character will carry over. They'll likely talk about the sacrifice your last character made.

My understanding was also that you can port over a save from an unfinished game though - you could always use a save prior to the final battle, I'm just not sure what your ending world would be. It might revert to a "default" state, or maybe if you did it post-Landsmeet there would be enough there for them to know what most of the end game state would be.

If you sacrificed yourself in the end then you play an Orlesian Grey Warden in the expansion. I'm not sure how the item transferring in this scenario works but I imagine you take your gear with you as you would if you hadn't sacrificed. Still, that would mean they would have had to strip your character's corpse before they put it on the pyre. lol

"Oh, new guy from Orlais, huh? Come to be our Commander? Well, we'd really appreciate it if you wore our hero's gear. Yeah, the guy who killed the Archdemon. We stripped these from his dead body before we burned him. I think we got all the blood off....Anyways, hope you like it!"

Hehe, that's a great "Welcome to Ferelden" present....

You know. I simply have to get a save where Loghain survives the whole game and doesn't die at the Landsmeet nd my character kills the Archdemon himself. The epilogue then says that he rebuilds the Grey Wardens in Fereldan.

"Welcome, new commander from Orlais!"

That would be AWESOME.

EDIT: Also, OP, as you know, you can take a third option and screw Morrigan the night before, thus ensuring nobody has to die, if you have a save that far back enough.

My City elf accidentally took Loghain on the team (I forgot that with hardened Alistair the dialog options change just a bit) so I'm thinking ultimate sacrifice and let Loghain play with the Orlesian Wardens. It won't be her actual canon ending, but might as well do something with it since I've already got it, right?

I think it bites a little, since, if YOU can live, and ALISTAR can live, why can't "you" get transferred over to the expansion. Does that make sense to anybody so far?? If you don't sacrifice yourself, Alistar should remember you and maybe have a talk during the expansion about why the Darkspawn are still above ground even though the archdemon is dead. T^T

'You' do get transferred over - as long as you didn't make the sacrifice. You're only the Orlesian warden if you sacrificed yourself - or if you choose to play that for the sake of interest. All the other Grey Wardens you've played, who survived, will be transferred over.

I also think that should the player decide to travel with Sten, he will be replaced by the Orlesian. But that's only speculation from my part.

I've never thought about that, actually - what if you survived but decide to go with the Orlesian Warden anyway, since in your own narrative the Warden left Ferelden after the Battle of Denerim, whether that be going to Antiva with Zevran, Par Vollen with Sten, or wherever the One Ring rumors lead in Morrigan's case?

Has a time period for the expansion even been discussed? Perhaps it is not strictly chronological? Perhaps I am thinking too much... I have played through many endings on one character before I realized the epilogues over-wrote each other *drat!* so I will likely be doing it again anyway, *and* as a new character as well but still ... I havent done a lot of research on it at all, so I really don't know what has been confirmed/suggested and what is just theory tbh.

@ shantisands. The IGN interview says the expansion is taking place a few months after DA:O.

I think it's six months - I have that number stuck in my head so I'm sure I heard it somewhere. Whether or not it's actually true I can't say. :bandit:

Technically the post-campaign save is created before the Epilogue, so you won't be held to any decisions you made in the Coronation scene. Its only your own desire for role-play that may have you deciding your Warden sailed off with Sten and the Orlesian Warden comes in to take your place.

Ah, that explains that much of it then, thanks guys. :) Perhaps then if you havent finished the game ( or have earlier save points) you will be able to import characters that way. you may not have the gear you had late game, but you will still be alive. From a role-play perspective however, that could get sticky - guess it would then depend on how attached a person is to their chosen ending. Thanks for the clarification about the timeline though :)
