Anyone found any other assassin leaders to loot the crest off?
So far the Exalted Plains is a burst.
So sick of this.

Since people have been having a lot of trouble, thought I'd put this up:
This is where I found what I needed to complete Assassin spec. Watch out for Crestwood spoilers:
Deathroot: bought 20 from the merchant in Crestwood village. You can harvest your deathroot in the Western Approach.
The book I found next to Cole.
Token 1: I picked up off the body of a carta assissin in the Hinterlands. It was while investigating a cave behind a waterfall for a quest (the Deep Trouble, or is it Deep Waters, I can't remember what it was called).
Token 2: I picked up in Crestwood - the Flats, I think? I was on my way down to deal with the big rift in the underwater cave after draining the lake. I'm pretty sure it was on the outskirts of Old Crestwood village.
Token 3: in the Black Fen's after capturing the Keep, draining the lake, and closing the big rift. It was on the body of a Highwayman Prowler not far from the hungry dragon that is circling the lake and distressing the people of Crestwood. It wasn't close enough that I had to engage the dragon in combat, but I could definately see the dragon well. More detail: it's down in the valley, I'm pretty sure it's quite close to the dam wall as well.
I'm pretty sure that the spec crafting items (the assassin tokens, and the necromancer skulls at least) are also random drops as well, since I've found a skull in the Hinterlands (in two different playthroughs), and two of the assassin tokens not on leaders (and one of them was in another region). So, if you can't fight the leaders in the journal, just keep killing the assassins and prowlers and hopefully they drop what you're after.

Problem is, the token is just not dropping for some of us and I've been farming assassins on and off for the last 20 hrs or so.
Anyway the three tokens in Crestwood are at:
1) The East Side Hills. At the starting camp go left and up the rocks, that's the East Side Hills. Assassin is at the hut near the water.
2) The Flats. From the village head down to Flats. Assassin is around the fishing hut and astrarium.
3) The Black Ferns. No need to capture the keep or close the rift. The assassin is around the quarry area.
e: You should probably kill all of them before draining the lake. That's possibly what bugged out the quest for me and I've seen it brought up elsewhere.

The Carta one spawned for me in the Hinterlands at the waterfall with the locked door behind it.
Been there twice. No drop. May be it's because the first time I went there even before i got the quest.

Thaks that got me my third part. Took me ages to work out that the murder knife was in requistions, and I do not use the craft weapon beanch but the requistions box.

Okay I have figured out why this bug occurs.
Basically, if you approach the flats before the lake is drained, the carta dwarf will literally drown. This it makes it hard to find his body if at all. Make sure you drain the lake and clear the rift underground before even approaching this area.

Here is where I found them:
The Flats: A group of carta dwarves wandering by the astrarium
Black Fens: North of the dragon by a crane-like object and the old assembly area (looks like a pit) leader is called Fat Masters
Eastern Hills: Go NE from the camp where you entered the area for the first time. There will be a building along the water. Leader is called Lady Sear. Ends up being in about the dead North middle of the map

So I am one of those guys who flooded Crestwood before i kill the Carta dwarf guy at the Flats so now i am stuck at 2/3....
Can any of those guys that claim they got the quest item from another source outside of Crestwood please explain in detail wtf they did? You just run around in circles in Hinterlands re-entering the area for the chance to get assassins to spawn and kept killing them until you found the quest item?
Cause i am doing that ,i am hunting assassin dudes or Carta dudes all over the place in every area i can think of killing literally hundreds of them and nothing drops.
By the way inside Valamar the cave in Hinterlands next to the area where you recruit Blackwall the grey warden has a lot of dwarf carta dudes in there i killed them so many times they didn't drop anything.

The three sources I've heard so far are from assassin-ish dudes at:
- Hinterlands (somone reported that they got all 3 of them from the Hinterlands from assassin groups): the Valamar cave.
- Western Approach: someone found one while doing the Sharper White Claws quest which is given to you by the guy near the Nazaire's Pass Camp.
- Exalted Plains: someone found one while wandering from the western to eastern ramparts.
If you need more specific locations for the Western Approach, let me know and I'll mark it on a map.
Personally I've done all 3 areas and still haven't found the last crest. I'm now deciding if I should load an an old save from 25hrs ago or to just switch to tempest (though I don't really feel like hunting down whatever it is the tempest specialisation needs to hunt down after spending all this time on this idiotic assassin quest.).

I'm thinking I should probably cut my losses and load an earlier save, seeing how much trouble other people are having with the Carta token.
The only problem is that in the oldest save I have I've already cleared out the quarry so I'm gonna have to farm over there for the token anyway, but at least on that save I have the token from the Carta boss.
On my original save I was able to get the East Side Hills token with no problems and eventually got the Black Fens token by farming the bandits in the area.
The Flats token seems to be the one giving everyone a headache.
I've done a little bit of farming in Valammar but no dice. There's only two rogues that spawn there anyway, so killing those two and then going out and coming back in is a bit of a hassle.

I don't want to be disrespectful or anything, but i am fairly certain that those people are confused and probably got the quest items from crestwood and think they got it from those areas.
I lost the Carta dwarf guy at the Flats when i flooded Crestwood since then i did all those 3 quests mentioned above and on top of that farmed all those 3 areas for quite a while and i still didn't get my 3rd quest item so i came to the conclusion that what they are claiming happened to them is bogus so i will just pick another subclass for my rogue although it's a shame cause i really wanted that particular sub class.

It's possible they were mistaken, though if you read page 1, there's someone who says they got their last token at the Western Approach.
FWIW, I ended up loading an old save and getting the assassin specialisation by killing the three at Crestwood. Later on at Valamar Cave at the Hinterlands I picked up another assassin weapon off one of the carta guys at the waterfall. So, I do think it's possible for the token to be spawned elsewhere, but either I was really unlucky or there may be a bug with the flats assassin and draining the lake and it prevents the token from spawning elsewhere. Idk, it's just speculation on my part.

Don't give up yet.I think I figured out a good way to get the Carta token (pretty simple really). It involves farming the Carta rogue in Valammar, so if you haven't gotten one by farming Valammar then this might not work (I only did like 10-ish runs when I farmed the slow way). Here's the vid:The video is me actually going back in after I already got it, only took me three tries. The first time I tried this I got it on my fifth try. Here's the steps in text form:1. Go to Valammar, it's better to go solo so your party members don't aggro the enemies.2. Enter Stealth before the bridge, don't bother with the archers just waltz past them.3. Go next to the rogue on the left side of the stairs and save your game4. Kill the rogue. If he doesn't drop the Assassin Blade reload your save5. Repeat step 4 until it drops. This might not work for everyone, but I hope it helps someone out.
Maybe it's the pc version or i am way higher level than this specific mob you are killing over and over again.
I am doing the exact same thing as you show in your video , i am lvl 15 and i just kill this mob and 19 out of 20 times he drops nothing. the one time he dropped something was some cloth. I have a counter running ty god my pc is super fast and the loading screens are small i killed him 45 times so far i will keep farming him and share my progress here.
Edit: I got it at exactly the 48th time i killed it.........ty god and ty you man i guess i am just super unlucky ![]()

I suspect the issue is with the dwarf in The Flats. As people above me said, sometimes that group can spawn in the lake itself, so you have to drain it first. Luckliy for me, when I pressed the search button near the boat at the fisherman's hut, it highlighted loot in the water (and guess what was inside
). It was tricky getting to it without drowning, but as I said, I got lucky and now have the assassin specialization unlocked without having to progress further with the Crestwood main story.

if all else fails, it might off an assassin at the very end of winter palace quest. after you've sealed the rift, there's a group of them en route to the exit. i've gone thru the palace on 3 different rogue saves (...yes, i've made 3 rogues >////<), and its dropped for me every time, so it might be there regardless of rng

I went into Crestwood on my 2nd playthrough with the assassin tokens in mind as I already had completed it in my first play.
I knew nothing of this bug. The dwarf I assume it is, in the flats simply never spawned. Went before, during, after. Did some other things went back and nothing.
Thanks for the confirmation video and all. 100% worked for me. I was a level 12 when I entered the cave. As well the game is amazing imo. I stayed away from all Bioware related forums and hype since the Citadel DLC. I hate hype and it was well worth it. I watched one video in the entire development process of DA:I, and it was while I was in line during release night. Awesome game Bioware, great job.
As well as awesome fans! Thanks again.

I can confirm this on PC at Nightmare mode works! Took around 5-6 tries, but it worked!!!!
Was losing my mind, lol

I can confirm this works on PS4 too. Took me 20-25 tries on Hard, but it definitely did work. I was missing the dwarf token because I went to that area before I drained the water and he probably drowned.
