You sure it isn't just that PC game reviewers have all done time in MMOs?

If you type down 'dragon age inquisition' in Google and select news you will see nothing but praises for the game even the PC ones but that was before the EU relased of the game.

I think its a good game that had a decent story. Was it the most groundbreaking earth shattering mind boggling thing ever? No. Then again despite the fact that I was hyped up for it to come out I wasnt really expecting a "masterpiece" Its been a very long time since a game has truly made me sit back and say "WOW'.

My main gripe with DA:I is all the goddamn bugs, for me that's what really held it back. Its honestly a wonder that I could even beat the game with the number of serious bugs I encountered there were many side quests I was unable to complete thanks to these bugs and I was unable to pursue a romance for my inquisitor because both Josephine and Cassandra's quests were bugged, not to mention having to skip over entire sections of the conversations in the last battle just to see the epilogue.

Positive, 'professional' reviews got me again, just like with DA2 (I did enjoy ME3 though).

My issues with the game after having completed it.

1) The main story-line can be completed in under 15 hours if you avoid sidequests (took me 17 with random sidequests here and there).

2) The ratio of side-quests to the main plot is ridiculous.  It felt like I was playing a single-player mmo, (where the majority of side-quests are fetch quests).

3) I haven't started a second game, but I get the feeling that my decisions don't really matter and that the conclusion to the game would be largely the same regardless of my choices (contrasted against an older RPG like the Witcher 2, where you could miss HALF the game because of your choices - now that's roleplaying.  Witcher 3 is supposed to have over 30 different endings...)

4) The main storyline is TERRIBLE.  Felt like I'd already heard this story with the Oblivion gates... Only I can save the world - blah, blah, blah - constant RPG tropes.  I expected more from Bioware.

5) Controls are brutal on PC - I realize this dead horse has already been beaten... but even the controller setup ain't great.  My ranged units still just sit there firing arrows into the distance while getting pummeled by melee enemies.

6) The romance plot-lines are ridiculous - poorly written fanfiction is what they remind me of.

7) Unintuitive UI and menu after menu after menu.

8) A closed 'open' world where I'm constantly trying to find out how the hell to get past invisible barriers.  The world just feels like a crap-ton of beautifully created corridors that funnel me in random directions.

Tons of other issues I had with the game, but honestly, feels like regression on Bioware's part - like they're now chasing the RPG industry rather than innovating.  I enjoyed DA:O, but even that game paled in comparison to BG2.  I also enjoyed ME for its storyline/setting, but this team that's been working on the past 2 Dragon Ages... my word.  It's like they've never played any of the games that made Bioware the RPG standard in the first place.  Compared to the ME series, that series felt connected throughout its iterations.  Choices truly mattered game-to-game, while here?  Blights and Breaches and personal stories in between - there's hardly any connection at all - it's like Bioware is just throwing random plot-lines and mechanics at the wall and seeing what sticks, with a few dragons thrown in here and there to justify its namesake.

The KillScreen review on Metacritic is the only that really hits on most of my qualms with the game, and even that review was far to generous in my opinion with its 75% score.  While I'll be in the minority here, I wouldn't give this game higher than a 5/10.

MODERATORS BREAK OUT THE BANHAMMER! SOMEBODY ON THE FORUMS DARES TO QUESTION THE QUALITY OF THE GAME!

But yeah so far of what I have played my experiences have been less than positive as well, have yet to finish but so far the game just feels like a massive drag.

One question though 17hours to complete the main story? How did you complete it so quick? So far I am 17 hours in and only just have enough power to do the Adamant mission (though I am not a high enough level to do the quest, only level 10 while the quest recommends at least 12-15), how did you gain power and level up so fast? Is there a trick to finding good gear or is it all random?

Wow. How did you manage to do the main quest without doing any side quests? You have to raise enough power to be able to go do the major quests on the war table... And I thought you did that by doing side quests and upgrading Skyhold and stuff. What's your secret?

Or rather, which type of side quests did you do to get enough power to keep furthering the plot line?

I think the game is fantastic and I love the fact that I can play it for probably a good 100 hours and still be doing fresh content. Sure they may just be boring quests but its not often you see a game have this much content.

Just on that point I remember the claim that this game had 40, any truth to that claim or was it all poppycock?

I'm kind of madly in love with it. The Dev's have said a thousand times that it's "the game they wanted to make." Well, it's pretty much the game I've been wanting to play. I'm about 20 hours in, and most of that is exploring doing extra curricular activities. Still unspoiled, I'm about to go to Redcliffe to see what the apostates are up to. Still debating on who to take with me, and wondering when Cole and Dorian will come along.

Opinion is subject to change, of course.  ^_^

How the heck did you finish the main story in less than 20 hours? I really don't see that being possible.

Anyway no. I prefer DA2 for it's central intimate story but Inquisition is beautiful and addictive.

I really enjoyed the game, and on my 2nd playthrough. Most will like it, some won't. Can't be helped.

Oh well.

Is OP just stupid? I felt like I rushed the story and I played for 52 hours. There is no way you can be at the level you would need to be at to beat the end game boss in 17 hours unless you totally ignored all lore and companion dialogue/quests to only grind mobs.

I don't think it possible to do this game in time stated by OP.  Logistically, realistically not possible, especially on a first play through.  Gaining power, influence, levels, let alone doing any romances.  Who are you kidding?

I was playing on Hard, did maybe half the side content, and I completed the game at 45 hours.

17 hours?  To complete the entire main quest? Balderdash.  Complete bull.  I do not believe you.  OP may or may not be a troll, but pics or it didn't happen.

I haven't played it yet, so I can't say I hate it but... from what I've heard and seen on youtube (I like spoilers, yes), there are many questionable writing and gameplay choices. It actually made me lose a little interest in the game.

And I won't get started on the bugs. Ugh.

Only way OP could've completed in 17 hours is if he was playing on Casual, and tried to speedrun through the game. And if that's the case then gee, I wonder if anyone could put 2 and 2 together as to why OP didn't enjoy the game as much as he could have.

I hate DAI, but just because it doesn't let me sleep. Over 40 hours in and no ending in sight. Heck, haven't even seen all the areas yet.

eh, took me over 20 hrs just to reach skyhold and i'm loving the game.

completing the game in 15 hours, no interest in side quests or exploring, that's a key selling point of an RPG.

No ones surprised you hated it, You've skipped half the game and wonder why you don't like?

sure complain about the lack of classes, the lack attributes and bugs, PC controls. these are legitimate gripes.

but bitching about side quests and exploring and referring to it as MMO style (news flash MMORPG is the world you're looking for! it rpg's always have tons of side quests and exploring) just makes you sound like your average cod player.

I've played about 23 hours and haven't even hit skyhold. This game has a ton of content, and I absolutely love. What I've seen of the story is interesting, even if it's not groundbreaking.

I am surprised, i play it on PC and aside for quick spawns i have not run into any bugs, the tactical cam could be better and i do not like the potion system, but story wise its excellent. If you played the previous games, as you write you did, you know who the villain is and what it all means and it raises many questions that are really intriquing. I very much enjoyed the romance that I did and genraly most of the conversations are gratifying and well written. And with the side quests... It is a huge open world, have you played any other games like that, AC, Far Cry, even Skyrim has shitload of quests that re mostly fetching and killing, its about the immersion and that is excellent here. You are not required to go everywhere and do everything, as you know, most of the quests are not needed to finisht the main campaign. And to the main story, i feel like you missed a lot of those "big quests", not really neccesary to the main story line, but adding to it and generally conecting the games thru your choices, there is a lot of hidden love in this.

Give it more time, be more patient on your second playthrough. Skip hinterlands if you want, i already find them a bit annoying too :D Afterwards tho, its fairly amazing

This game pasted all my expectations so far. Everything about it is awesome. It's Bioware's return to greatness

Starting to see why the founders left the company. They could see they were treading waters.

Nothing has been the same at Bioware for some years now. They simply lost the touch.

I don't know. I'm enjoying it so far, though its not without is issues. Completed in 17 hours seems very weird. OP seems to have only been interested in knowing the ending and felt it lacking.

Its like watching Star Wars on Fast Forward and complaining about the lack of subtext.

You sure it isn't just that PC game reviewers have all done time in MMOs?

^ This.  This is why I don't get the complaints about the controls because they handle just like they would in an MMO, so I'm used to them.  They don't bother me.

I've been fortunate.  Aside from a couple of BSOD incidents (Which I thankfully haven't seen any since NVidia released their newest drivers), and a few times where I couldn't talk to people or interact with things (fixed by exiting and re-entering the game) the game has been running smoothly for me.

I'm around 55 hours in and I haven't finished Act 2, and I am enjoying myself immensely.  Far too little on the Alistair end for my taste, but I can deal with it.  I suppose.

TL;DR:  I like the game and don't understand why people insist on powering through a single player RPG in as short of a time as possible.  Next thing you know they'll be complaining about how there's no end game content and that PvP sucks.  Oh, wait, this isn't an MMO.  Yep.  I am completely baffled.
