No, not really. I like it, finally an RPG again that makes me lose myself while playing! IS it perfect? No, by all means!

Did I expect it to be? No, by all means ... but some people might have expected the second coming of the RPG-Lord ... and I blame the internet on this, it makes people stopping from enjoying something, instead they nitpick and dissect every little thing, before, during and after release, no matter its actually important (real bugs!), or silly (nugs on the surface! the lore is dead, Bioware sold out!)

I'm too, annoyed by the side quests. However, hating the game? That's really extreme don't you think? I liked it almost as much as Origins., and I'll start second run after a coupe days break but, I must ask, do you people ever stop finding things to complain and actually trying to enjoy the game? It's just a game BSN, ffs, play it and be done with it already.

The game is very good if it wasn't for the horrible controls ( no matter with what ) and the big amounts of bugs and glitches also the companion A.I is dumb as a rock. Which is normal fights doesn't matter but makes any of the harder fights , especially the 10 Dragons , incredibly frustrating .  You need the tactical mode for those fights but you literally have to babysit your whole party every 5 seconds and pause/unpause which makes the fights take AGES and did i mention how horrible it controls  ?

I think the biggest of the 10 dragons took me almost 2 hours which kinda shocked ( and i mean the fight took that long ) me when i looked at the watch after that damn thing died.

At first i thought the gameplay was boring as hell but turns out thats because Mage and Bow Rogue's are really boring to play and my inquisitor is a Mage which i at first pretty much only used directly.  I later found out how fun melee is and mostly played as Bull ( who i skilled full damage and no tanking stuff ) and/or Cole in 3rd person . Both deal INSANE damage extremely fast and you actually get to do stuff with them that feels like you're in control.  Tanking is also ok-ish to play though i would only start the fights with the tanks and would later switch to the melee damage dealers.  I think i had a couple of 8000-10000 damage hits with Bull as my best while with Cole the numbers just fly by so fast.

The story was decent though with some bad every once in a while . The characters / companions i generally liked but it feels there's missing something. I don't know most of them are kinda just there and have a couple of interactions while especially Bull and Sera get quite alot of stuff even without romance or major story involvement.

Overall its better than DA2 by a mile but worse than Origins and some other RPG's . Still good enough that i more or less binged whenever i had time it since i was able to play .

I agree about the PC controls for tactical camera. It's absolute garbage and Bioware needs to address it.

Although Corypheus being a key antagonist didn't bother me. If anything, the criticism should be that Corph should never have been just a DLC villain in the first place as I think he has enough weight to have been hinted in the main game.

Is he the best Bioware villain? Nope. Is he the worst? Naw.

He's an adequate villain that plays a good role in a decent story.

I don't have any problems with him outside of playing as Hawke and killing his butt. Being a sideshow villain is his problem, not being a bad one.

Don't hate it. There are bugs that I dislike and I need to take Dramamine every time I start up because certain things are giving me motion sickness, but other then those couple of things I'm really enjoying this a lot. Also managed to scare the **** out of the gf because she hates spiders, and the very first thing has you getting chased by them, so watching her freak out was pretty funny.

Who is "you guys?" And where is it listed that side villains in one epic becomes the main villain in another one?

I'm liking it  a lot...it gets better the more you do. I even fell in love with Josephine...only by looks at the moment...but she looks better ingame than in pics I think. :P

I'm still in Haven so havn't got very far in the story but I am taking my time doing a few quests.

I'm so glad I can play it....but hopefully with patches it will get a whole lot better.

To be fair, Dragon Age 2 doesn't actually have a central villain.

True, true. One of its better points, IMO.

Quite right. I liked that bit about DA2, actually.

I hope that the next game goes that route again in some way. It does make things tricky for a central conflict spanning many hours of gameplay though.

I'd like a game where you just rebuild a country. Making deals, allies, doing quests for the good of the country. Things like that.

It can be approached on a broader spectrum. it works well both for DA ]['s personal story and for a broader story--like Rawgrim suggests.

Though personally, that seems almost too large for a DA game.

I also think, like DA ][, the DA series and really Bioware in general (and really, most RPGs) really needs to take their conflcts in a new direction that isn't "rah rah malevolent force wants to eat the world."

I actually wouldn't mind they'd rather throw in some "smaller" games now and then, like DA2, with a smaller, less epic scope (maybe even taking place in the "past" of Thedas, during the height of the Imperium, or the first blight, such things). And a bigger game after that again.

As long as they advertise it correctly though  Not like DA2 or ME3 ...

That is what I was inferring to as well.

I mean, outside of Dragon Age 2 and maybe Loghain and Saren, has any BioWare game really done a complex villain? Even Mass Effect is sort of cliched in that regard, unless you count the Geth as villains.

Positive, 'professional' reviews got me again, just like with DA2 (I did enjoy ME3 though).

My issues with the game after having completed it.

1) The main story-line can be completed in under 15 hours if you avoid sidequests (took me 17 with random sidequests here and there).

2) The ratio of side-quests to the main plot is ridiculous.  It felt like I was playing a single-player mmo, (where the majority of side-quests are fetch quests).

3) I haven't started a second game, but I get the feeling that my decisions don't really matter and that the conclusion to the game would be largely the same regardless of my choices (contrasted against an older RPG like the Witcher 2, where you could miss HALF the game because of your choices - now that's roleplaying.  Witcher 3 is supposed to have over 30 different endings...)

4) The main storyline is TERRIBLE.  Felt like I'd already heard this story with the Oblivion gates... Only I can save the world - blah, blah, blah - constant RPG tropes.  I expected more from Bioware.

5) Controls are brutal on PC - I realize this dead horse has already been beaten... but even the controller setup ain't great.  My ranged units still just sit there firing arrows into the distance while getting pummeled by melee enemies.

6) The romance plot-lines are ridiculous - poorly written fanfiction is what they remind me of.

7) Unintuitive UI and menu after menu after menu.

8) A closed 'open' world where I'm constantly trying to find out how the hell to get past invisible barriers.  The world just feels like a crap-ton of beautifully created corridors that funnel me in random directions.

Tons of other issues I had with the game, but honestly, feels like regression on Bioware's part - like they're now chasing the RPG industry rather than innovating.  I enjoyed DA:O, but even that game paled in comparison to BG2.  I also enjoyed ME for its storyline/setting, but this team that's been working on the past 2 Dragon Ages... my word.  It's like they've never played any of the games that made Bioware the RPG standard in the first place.  Compared to the ME series, that series felt connected throughout its iterations.  Choices truly mattered game-to-game, while here?  Blights and Breaches and personal stories in between - there's hardly any connection at all - it's like Bioware is just throwing random plot-lines and mechanics at the wall and seeing what sticks, with a few dragons thrown in here and there to justify its namesake.

The KillScreen review on Metacritic is the only that really hits on most of my qualms with the game, and even that review was far to generous in my opinion with its 75% score.  While I'll be in the minority here, I wouldn't give this game higher than a 5/10.

Have you even played an bioware game before?

obligatory bioware chart link http://31.media.tumb...12u8o1_1280.jpg

playing on PS4 so cant speak for PC issues

However im liking the game so far, hell loveing it actually, i do have some gripes

like BAD AI and butchered tactics screen, makes things annoying at times. A few to many fetch quest and collectibles alá assassins creed or any other modern open world ubisoft game.

"Witcher 3 is supposed to have over 30 different endings...)" DA:I is supposed to have 40 "different" endings, lets see if the proof is in the pudding so to speak for both games.

Im not giving it a score, since such things are stupid and arbitrary, however its easily my favorite game of the year, and my favorite RPG since DA:O and Witcher 2. despite its small number of flaws.

Well for the fun it ill give it 8 cheese shields out of seven high dragons,
