*** below is original text of my post. After OP is answer to puzzle which I located in a guide/worked out. Hope this helps someone who like me who is too OCD to be able to stand losing approval. ***

 

 

I'm hoping someone whom has the game guide can spoil one particular puzzle... I'm stressing out because I don't want to lose approval at the grand ball, but can't find the time to work out what I need to do with the statuettes that you alight with your fade torch. It obvious must be a puzzle, but I can't seem to bring myself to lose a single approval point (ocd... I know). So I just keep running up and down the trellis. Which oddly enough, doesn't cost you approval rating... but jumping on tables does...



Any kind, helpful soul out there who can throw me a bone?

Welp, I found the answer in a walkthrough... But it wasn't even right. Apparently the author didn't remember to Never Eat Soggy Wieners...


"Head back to the last room and ignite the half-dozen urns in order. Go to the west side of this section and light the urns from south to north. Do the same with the urns on the east side to expose a staircase. Go down these stairs and then take all of the loot when you reach the bottom."


I read that and assumed he meant east and west based on the cardinal north point showing on the mini map. but apparently he meant east and west (in place of "left" and "right) with regards to the players orientation when exiting the room where you get the veil fire. That said, he still got north and south correct with regards to the cardinal point so....

So, for anyone reading this in the future from a google search or other such methods, once you've lit your veil fire torch. Light the furthest one on the left when exiting the veil fire room, then the next two in sequence towards the door where you got the veil fire. Then go over to the other side, furthest from the door you exited and light in the same fashion. This will cause a hidden staircase to appear. Doing this quickly enabled me to get the staircase uncovered without losing a single court approval point. by doing my quick run back to the trellis to reset the timer. You will know you are doing this correctly because each urn will ignite blue, rather than red. If it's red, it's wrong. Check the ascii "art" below.

Where X is the room you are exiting where you got the veil fire torch.

And just because I was having a ****** of a time finding the Halla statue required to enter the room. You can locate it thusly. When you climb the trellis, turn right at the top and follow the balcony railing. You will turn 90 degrees and continue following the railing. The Halla statue is located ON the railing of the East side balcony.

 

I should mention, i managed to complete everything to do with the grand library only losing 1 approval point, and that happened early before I realized what was happening. Possible to do without losing any if you're patient and methodical enough.

Very helpful. Thanks. Also, if you do lose an approval point, you can regain it by throwing a caprice coin into the fountain, which is in the same area as the grate you need to climb. But honestly, other than OCD satisfaction, I don't think there's a difference between say…90% approval and 100%.

Hey OP, you dont need the game guide to learn how to complete the quest as there are many walkthroughs online for it
