I think that dialogue is tied to the aggro personality. I chose that in the Keep for one of my Hawkes and she said the same thing. She disapproved of Anders's actions, killed him, and certainly didn't romance him.
I'm not liking what the game does with some choices from the Keep, either, though. Especially with the romances. My Hawke felt pretty OOC when talking about why she's without her LI, and some of the other dialogue left me with a 'wtf' feeling as well. Personality didn't seem to affect much dialogue from what I've seen.
Trying again with a sarcastic Hawke and hopefully that fixes it. :/

I thought it may have been an import error so i imported again and started over, but im beginning to think he just acts that way regardless. I havent gotten to hawke again in the game yet, so im not sure if he actually acts different this time around. When I asked him about Anders he did support him and his decision however and mentioned how he doesnt like to leave him alone.

The Hawke I imported was purple (sarcastic) by choice in the Keep and he came out red (aggressive). If your reroll has any effect, let me know. Maybe it's a bug that doesn't happen all the time.

Could just be because of my own headcanon but my Hawke is perfect to how I had her in the game, and I liked her reasoning for Sebastian not being with her (he wanted to, she said no keep working on controlling Starkhaven).
Kinda wish she was a full-on companion =p

My Diplomatic Hawke still acted the same way. I kept talking to my screen, calling her a hypocrite, every time she opened her mouth.
But the thing that irritated me more was that even though I flagged her as a rogue, she was a fighter in DA:I (even checked my World State in the Keep and she's still flagged as a rogue there). It irritated me so much that I almost sacrificed her. The only thing that saved her was that my main man, "Mustache Stroud," was the Red Shirt Grey Warden, not Alistair.

My Hawke is acting completely wrong too. He was sarcastic, and he either got a stick wedged up his butt over the last few years or Varric made him seem funnier than he actually was while telling his story, because he's very...angry.

Laughing that she's friends with Loghaij because ...well, two less compatible people were never found. But it was fun.
I also cackled at the blood mage condemnations coming from a blood mage. I'm just headcanoning she was being very HEY GUYS TOTALLY NOT A BLOOD MAGE HERE NOOOOOPE NO like the awkward turtle idiot she was. :3

Watching my Inquisitor and Hawke briefly bounce snark off each other was a highlight for me.

At first, I thought my keep import had bugged. I expected Hawke's first remark to be snarky, if only to set the tone. If you make the right remarks, there's snarky lines here and there. It makes me want to play again and see what Hawke says with a different personality.
As for what Hawke says sounding out of character, that's just a problem that comes from a previous protagonist returning and not being under your control. They tried to incorporate and account for your Hawke's actions with the keep. As David Gaider said, however, the character is theirs now and they'll take them where they want. That probably rubs some people the wrong way. It certainly has that effect on me for a few of my Hawkes. One of my favorites would stay out of the whole conflict with Corypheus, his responsibility or not. Obviously Bioware's writers couldn't account for that without major rewrites to Here Lies the Abyss.
Stuff like Hawke's opinion of blood mages were a complaint in Dragon Age 2 as you're all well aware. Those of you playing a blood mage can just say Hawke's a very good actor when it comes to covering that up. I mean...they'd have to be, given how prominent they were in Kirkwall. If Meredith had found out about Hawke being a blood mage, she would have taken action, champion or no.

Remember, Varric was telling the story in DA2 so he could have made the entire thing up.

Then why let the Keep import DA2 choices at all?

I don't think he made the entire thing up. The part about Orsino is outlandish it's either true or false. Varric seems to get a little ticked if you question him on that in DAI.

Yeah, they managed to ruin Hawke just fine. Their role in the plot doesn't even make sense either, so it's just abusing an old player character and not even handling it well.

Well at least I'm not the only one having a problem with Hawke being completely out of character. It'd be nice if someone from Bioware would say something about it, though. Maybe say that yes it is a bug or apologize that they had to write Hawke a certain way. Which would suck if it were the latter.

My hawke was not very purple until the Adamant part, and then she got funny again, thank god. I was worried she had a diplo/aggro import.

Hawke in this game is an hit or miss. In my game, I was lucky enough that my Hawke acted the way I pictured. He was against blood magic, and he also criticized people who thought their position of leadership excused their actions (one of the reasons he hated the templars), so it made sense when he called out the wardens. He was also very protective of his loved ones, so it made sense that he kept Bethany and Merrill out of this. My only criticism is that male Hawke sounds very aggressive in his first meeting for no reason. He was sarcastic, his voice tone should have been more light.
My favourite line was: "If this is the afterlife the chantry owns me an apology. This looks nothing like the Maker bossom".

Hawke was massively OOC for me, but I expected that and it's the reason I didn't want any player characters coming back...but it was handled better than I expected overall.
. I'm not as attached to Hawke as I am my Warden, so I just found it amusing tbh. I feel bad for people who are upset though.

Yeah it thankfully worked out for me as what was presented roughly fell in line with what I played but I immediately thought my buddy who rolled an evil blood mage is going to be pissed. It's easily head cannonable as Varric being full of $&!* (just like Hawke's nice hair and trim beard apparently) but this gives a good indication of why the Warden or the Inquisitor(in future games) should never show up in person, there is no way that the writers could give everyone's personal interpretations justice and they don't have three personality options and the out of only being met in flashback.

My sarcastic Hawke who banged everything (male and female) somehow became friends with Loghain and is dead serious about everything happening. Something weird must've happened to him between DA2 and DAI.... ![]()

What bugs me the most - is how did Hawke become fast friends with Loghain, when they didn't even meet?

I just got to Skyhold and completed the Crestwood mission. I imported my beloved purple Hawke and was quite surprised when she started talking to the Inquisitor in a serious and super pissed way. I know times are grim and everything, but it never stopped her before. I was expecting to be devastated by her shitty puns. I loved her shitty puns. When can I have her shitty puns back?

It feels pretty weird
I can imagine my main DiploHawke being uneasy about blood mages after what happened to Leandra. Still, she was so... rude O_o
But Holy Maker I know I'll just be hysterically laughing when my SarcaHawke - the blood mage who supported Anders, sold Fenris to slavery, killed everything and everyone just for lolz - will be badmouthing blood magic
Like, irony, man. The irony

I'm still wondering if this is a bug, where Hawke's personality is always aggressive. Maybe a patch will fix it.
I don't think so. I imported purple Hawke and checked a couple videos on youtube to compare. Some responses are the same no matter the personality, others do change but they all sound serious and angry. Purple Hawke is more pissed than snarky. I've only played till Crestwood and don't want to spoil myself much, so I haven't seen videos further in the storyline. It might change. I hope so.
