My first encounter seeing a dragon, I was like, yeah no f-this. And I walked the other direction. I know where my power lies. And it ain't fighting a Dragon. So far all three dragons I have seen. I'm careful to avoid them.

yeah that was my first 3. Then I went to kill her and that took 3 reloads. Eventually learned to hide at some pointsI took a fireball to the face, picked myself up, and ran away as fast as possible while constantly clicking disengage

Bravely bold sir Ziegrif
Rode forth from Haven
He was not afraid to die
Oh brave sir Ziegrif
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave brave sir Ziegrif
He was not in the least bit scared to be stomped by a dragon
Or to have his eyes burned out, and his pelvis broken
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away,
and his limbs all chewed and mangled
Brave sir Ziegrif
His head smashed and his heart ripped out
And his liver devoured and his bowels unplugged
and his nostrils torn and his bottom burned up
But then. A mighty dragon swooped down!
And...
Brave Sir Ziegrif ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When the dragon reared it's ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled
Yes Brave Sir Ziegrif turned about
He gallantly chickened out
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat
Oh Bravest of the BRAAAAVE, Sir Ziegrif!
This needs to be made into a song, with music.
Olde English type musick.

I just took out the Frostback with at level 11. (Rest of party was level 10)
A lot of Vivienne running away to "rez" people was my key to victory. Took me about 45mins to take that bastard down!

Just had my first encounter. Got it down to about 1/4 of its health when the game crashed to desktop. First time that's happened. ![]()

Got the Hinterlands Dragon to around 60% or something like that at around level 6-8 ish . One of my guys died and i was out of potions . Not sure if i didn't see the level or just missed it but next time i tried a dragon i was 19 and some of the Dragons were already too low for me and dropped more or less useless stuff ....
Somehow thought all of the guys would be at 19-20 ish at the least.

Welcome to a series of many opportune crashes that will drive you absolutely livid.
You may wish to invest in padded gloves before you start punching holes in walls.

Killed two dragons now, tough ****. First one with Varric/Solas/Blackwall, second dragon with Varric/Iron Bull/Blackwall. My tactic now is just run around and revive fallen teammates while Blackwall tanks the beast, works out quite well.

So I had the misfortune of running into my first Dragon, around level 7. Not realizing it was actually a Dragon, I thought it was a set piece or part of the window-dressing. Until one of my party was dead, and half my health had mysteriously vanished. I pondered to myself;
"How would Varric tell a tall tale about this situation in a way, it would make me look good?"
Alas, Varric was the party member who had previously been burnt into oblivion. So needless to say, as all true heroes do;
I ran.

My party were burning corpses. Nothing like a flaming death to make you want to kill it.

Seeing a dragonling - Oh, look dragonlings?
Varrick: And there she goes! (roar/dragons shadow over land).
Me: Aaaand, we are going in opposite direction of that shadow, and never gonna come back.

Me and the dragon just sat there staring each other down. Then we went out for coffee.

1st time seeing a dragon (Hinterlands): Nope! Runrunrunrunrun!
2nd time seeing a dragon (Storm Coast): It's fighting a Giant/Troll, it won, then it flew away.
3rd time (Crestwood): It's the same level as me, I'm ready.
1st attempt - died
2nd attempt - died
3rd attempt - died
4th attempt - Victory!

No problem. I just killed it at lvl 6 due to horrendous game design.

To anyone who's killed the Hinterlands dragon; at about half health, does it spawn dragonlings? Or was that just the games horrible enemy refresh mechanic?

Nope, she spawns dragonlings. Kill them and switch back.
