Encountered the Hinterlands dragon at level 5 or 6 while exploring.  Heard it flying overhead, then Cassandra was suddenly one-shot by a fireball while the rest of us got the hell out of Dodge.

Went back at level 11 as a Knight Enchanter and ate its face.

Terrible. I got basicly one-shotted in the Hinterlands.

I will get my revenge, rawr!

I took a fireball to the face, picked myself up, and ran away as fast as possible while constantly clicking disengage

Same thing except I did not know to use disengage at the time. Was cool seeing the dragon fly by and I took a shot at it to see what level it was.

Much, much higher than my party was the answer.

I believe "epic fail" is the expression kids are using these days. I'm sure the dragon was enjoying the barbecue, though.

I'm gonna hit level 16 soon, though. Revenge is sweet and a dish best served cold.

I have now killed 4 dragons. I have to say that the one in Hinterlands was the most difficult (even though it was the lowest level).  The one on the Storm Coast was the most fun and with some cool mechanics.

I ran into the one in the Hinterlands first.. .around level 6 or so.  I stood up to him for a little while, then I lost my first party member.. and then another.  I ran away.  Came back at 12 and took him down.

I've managed to take out the only two I've seen so far.

It was the level 12 beastie you meet north of the camp in the Hinterlands (I was level 9 at the time).  I cleared the valley and the dragonlings, then saw that thing and kind of laughed to myself.  I'm playing on Nightmare, so I figured it wasn't going to go well.  It didn't.  Whole party got sucked in by the wind attack, and buttstomped into oblivion.

But I'll be back for him...just you wait and see....

I just went by minding my own business, was like "whoa, holy shiat", I looked at the beast and thought about my next move, admired how it flew by over my party's head, then reloaded after the fireballs ripped 'em all to shreds ...

Got the one in the Hinterlands down to about half health, killed 2 lots of its dragonlings but then I ran out of potions and they fireballed me.

Had my first real encounter with a dragon last night.  I'm currently level 9.  I had seen the dragon in the Storm Coast fighting with the giant, but that dragon flew away and wasn't really an encounter.  Last night while in the Hinterlands I was trying to collect all the shards.  I found the last skull overlooking a nice valley.  Just as I took control of the skull I saw a dragon come flying in and breath fire at my party.  I could hear my party screaming in agony as they were set ablaze.  I continued to try to find all the shards through the skull.  My plan was to have them marked on the map then get the heck out of there.  As soon as I exited the skull I caught fire and we were all dead.

Very poorly. I strolled around, picking flowers and minding my own business until I heard a roar. Look around, saw nothing, thought that perhaps it was just a large squirrel or something. When the next roar came, it was accompanied by a shadow that was cast directly on us. Then there were fire, screams and panic. What came next, was a load save screen.

I saw the Hinterlands one first but knew that I wouldn't be able to fight it. So my first ended up being the one in the Western Approach. It was a loooooong battle. I managed to defeat it however.. after at least half an hour of fighting. It was glorious.

I killed it.

It was the Crestwood one and while I did use almost all my healing potions I never felt like I wasn't going to do it and then I decided to hunt the Hinterland one....so many dragonlings.

Eventually I did it, just with no healing potions left, 3/4th of the party down and very little health left but I did it......Sera's quite the dragon killer for me so I switched to her from my Warrior Inquisitor.

I killed two Today. A lightning Dragon and an Ice one. One lvl 13 and the other 19. The level 13 one was harder as I didn't have any spirit attacks.

A lot of fun, think I might go and kill the one in Emprise Du lion

I defeated the Fereldan Frostback Dragon from the Hinterlands at Level 9. I only died once and that was because near the end of the fight when it's down to around 25% health, it summons dragonlings and I wasn't expecting that. Second time, I was and I finally ended up killing the dragon when it flew onto its mound.

It was an epic conclusion actually as I was nearly dead (with no more health/regen potions), the dragon was down to a few hundred HP left in its health and we were fighting on the cliff side (at this point, I was scared I was going to fall off) but I got the final strike, winning the battle and leveling up too. Disappointed with the loot though but the dragonling scales allowed me to craft a very nice armor piece.

I didn't expect it to breath fire at me when I tried rushing it the first time. Like, what dragon does that? Rude.

First encounter? Saw the Fereldan Frostback fly overhead at level 8-ish and noped straight out of there.

Second encounter? The Northern Hunter in Crestwood. Took him down after 3 tries on level 12, because I figured that maybe I should stock up on potions before engaging. Made the fight much easier :P

I'd say prolly like most - fire roasted marshmellows!

I was umm lvl 5? or 6? (can't remember sorry) in the Hinterlands -  I'd just liberated a camp from some bandits and took a wonder down under some ruins, picking some herbs and iron I spotted. Saw the path I was curved around and went upwards (I'm sure you all know where this is heading), so being adventurous I headed up and beheld a grand and beautiful vista (it was lovely).

"Well, there she goes" Varric said <-- to which I ignored as I was gazing at the scenery... and somehow managed to miss just what he had spotted (don't ask me how, that dragon is huge! lolz)

Next thing *big balls of fire engulf the party and turn us into marshmellows* <-- I never saw it coming, just heard some flapping then engulfed in fire and dead.

My lesson: When I hear a companion talk about things flying or taking off... RUN like mad till I'm actually ready to take on a dragon. lol!

The first time was in the Hinterlands at level 12 and it did not go so well. I came back at level fourteen with my dragon slaying team (Cassandra, Bull, Vivienne and myself as a mage) and we took it on no problem.

And then I just now happened to stumble upon the one in the Exalted Marches completely unprepared without any electrical resistance tonics or belts and with no spirit damage to use against it. We managed to take it down though, which I was pretty happy about on account of not anticipating it at all.

I play on hard/nightmare-.. But when I fight a dragon I drop the difficulty to normal. I know I know. Actually I killed the one in Western approach in Casual difficulty at level 14. He was kicking my ass on nightmare.
