First time you are going to notice how bad the AI is when you go and try to fight a dragon. Which is a shame, since the beasts are rather cool looking. Most people seem to be cheesing them with Knight-Enhancers / Reavers or with warriors that have good guard generation and barrier support (takes some micromanagement, probably have to disable AI).

Running around the Hinterlands to get all the camping sites, I come across an area that looked vaguely familiar from one of the gameplay vids, suddenly fireball to the face, took half my health off, ran away.

About the same thing happened to me too lol.

Poor Varric took the fireball head on and died miserably. Cassandra in the other hand tanking the dragonlings, but not for long.

I did pretty well actually, but I was clearly under leveled to be fighting it (was like half it's level). Could barely get it to fifty percent before wiping. AFter I leveled a bit and decided to git gud I came back and wrecked it's **** though

Well, the first time I actually saw one was like this: I was running around exploring when I heard Sera yelling "Can we stay and watch?" or something like that. I thought what's there worth looking at and turned the camera. What I saw was a battle between giant and a dragon. I was HIGHLY underleveled (lvl 4/5 meanwhile both the dragon and the giant were 9) and just thought "nope" and started to run away. However, the dragon grew bored, said byebye and flew away, but the giant came after me and me and my party had to fight against him. And yeah, even 10 levels after that, I still haven't properly fought a dragon.

I dodged the Dragon in Lady Shayna's Valley as a level 4, picking up the Shards.

But I'll be back...

I have yet to fight any dragon in Dragon Age, Black Dragon Kalameet and Slumbering Dragon Sinh in Dark Souls are two of the toughest bosses I ever fought.

A Fireball to the face in the Hinterlands. Fun... I tried it at L12, but there's something seriously wrong with the tactics in this game. My ranged DPS will all of the sudden walk right in front of the dragon instead of keeping a distance. I can clearly see that their gameplay line is set to hold position way the Nug-crap over to the right, but nope they feel like putting their staves into the dragon's mouth instead. I play on Hard so I feel it's important that I actually have control over the battlefield with tactical view.

I was totally owned on my first encounter, I didn't even get chance to run away before it wiped the entire party with a few fireballs, I was only level 6 though!

I went back to that dragon at Level 13 though and managed to kill it, took about 20 minutes and I had Iron Bull, Blackwall and Dorian with me. Me and Dorian did some major spell damage from afar whilst Bull and Blackwall soaked up all the damage, it was great fun. Can't wait for my next dragon fight

I killed my first TWO dragons today. Both times it was Blackwall solo-ing the last 20% of it's health. He could probably solo a dragon with his tankiness.

 

Also, I am playing on Hard difficulty and was lvl 14 when I killed both of them.

There was a barbeque for the whole family! Sadly I was on the menu, serves me right for exploring too far out of my level area haha. The first dragon I actually killed was the one that electrifies the water in the swampy area of the Exalted Plains... too bad I was standing in it!

Ran away unfortunately it disappeared when I returned to finish it off.
