It did seem odd to me that way back in Mass Effect 2, and then in 3, we were able to change our relaxed look. Yet all these years later, in Bioware's next big RPG title, were not able to do something as trivial as change our clothes. It's not just the clothes either, I feel as though there were a lot of better mechanical design choices used in earlier Bioware titles. That's not to say that this is a bad game by any means, some of the design choices just seem odd to me.

Yeesh, I don't look forward to Skyhold if I have to look at my male elf in that outfit the entire time. At least in the armor, I can hide his broken arms and skeleton body size.
Personally, I would have taken a lot less side quests in exchange for more casual clothes and hairstyle options.

This is the exact same idea as Mass Effect that you have your suit when you are in the ship, i immediately realized this when i got the keep.

This. I mean seriously....who cares about delivering flowers to graves or helping some dude's druffalo in comparison to our hero's appearance?Personally, I would have taken a lot less side quests in exchange for more casual clothes and hairstyle options.

I think this suit is a sign that the human was the original design/default. It has poncy noble written all over it.
And the grey and gold motif fits the Trevelyan colors.

But....But.......The druffalo! He would have been eaten by wolves if not for me! D8

Oh god, do I agree. That is not the sort of outfit my Dalish should be wearing. Hell, you can't even tell I'm Dalish if not for the face tattoos, specially in those human noble style pjs. And on a Qunari? Just lol.

Is there any reason why we can't use that red suit from a certain event in the game to avoid spoilers while at skyhold as an alternative? It just seems so strange to me when it is in the game files.

I've come online for no other reason to Google this very subject. The grey pyjamas are especially lousy when sat on the throne for judgements. It's just embarrassing seeing your own prisoners so much better dressed than you are when you're sentencing them to death! ![]()
I do concur that it wouldn't look half as bad if it were black, but there's just nothing about the Skyhold outfit that seems appropriate for an Inquisitor. It just feels really jarring.

There should at least have been a scene explaining it in the war room after coming to Skyhold.
Like Josephine insisting you need to look more formal and presentable. Leading to a debate between her and Leliana on how best to present you while Cullen snickers in the background. Then it fades out as a time transition and fades back in and its already nightfall. Hours later. Josephine and Leliana are outright arguing about it now. Cullen is frustrated and miserable.
Then Cullen, at the end of his rope, stands up and points at the window and sarcastically yells "By the Maker, why not just use the bloody drapes then?!"
Josephine and Leliana death glare him, but then look at the drapes. Slowly their eyes light up. They look at each other. Then at the Inquisitor. Who begins looking worried. Scene cuts to Cullen who begins to look horrified as he realizes what he's done. "Wait, no-" he begins to protest but its too late. Scene fades out as Josephine advances on the Inquisitor while Leiliana pulls down the drapes.
Cut to the next morning in the Inquisitor's chambers with the poor Inquisitor now wearing the drapes standing in front a full length mirror. There is only resigned sorrow in their eyes. They turn and exit the room and bump right into Scout Harding coming to deliver a report.
She looks them up and down. Then dead in the eyes. A slow smirk spreads across her face as one eyebrow begins to arch.
The Inquisitors sighs. Their shoulders slumping in defeat. The scene fades out to black and you're back in the throne room.
End scene.
Or! If that's too much work you could just allow us to turn the outfit off in Skyhold under options like hide helmets. >.>

Damn.. Here I thought there would be at least some other outfits.. Like in Mass Effect 2/3..
Yet another step back from one franchise to another that I simply do not understand. Why have it in mass effect but not in dragon age? When it comes to gameplay sure, keep them separate they need to differentiate themselves from each other. But for things like casual outfits, face code importing and exporting, why on earth would they not implement them across the board in their rpgs? It doesn't make a lick of sense.

That's pretty much why I abandoned my male elf game. Once you get to Skyhold, it becomes unbearable. At least out in the field you can equip armour looks somewhere decent on that broken frame. Shoulders/arms need to be fixed asap. Would love if they also stuck a little meat on those bones. Solas looks 100x better compared to a male elf PC.

I really have a hard time understanding why this is even a topic, just like the absence of a Black Emporium mirror type way to tweak your character's appearance in game, certain tattoos not being available anymore, not too many hairstyle choices and the lack of a storage chest or something similar. These are a few of a lot of rather simple things to make players happy and satisfied. Neither of those is in any way an overly extravagant feature to wish for, and I guess Bioware should know their audience well enough to realize that these things would be greatly appreciated.

It is admittedly rather baffling. I mean DA2 was shoved out the door yet DA:I is missing what were basic features in DA2 and even DA:O. I could understand if they were things that would be fundamentally more difficult to do in a new engine. But having a storage chest is such an absurd omission I sincerely thought I was just missing a room in Haven / Skyhold with the chest in it. Especially given that inventory limit is a central "Feature" to the game to the point of having associated Inquisition perks.
Sill, it pales in comparison to the male elf model's problems. >.>

To be brutally and bluntly honest, the male elf's Skyhold arm's quite literally are just as thick as a human child's in game if you compare the models. They even have the same head to shoulder proportions. Seriously.
The male elf Skyhold model is literally a really tall 10 year old in Thedas.

Two things:
1. The PJs are godawful, and particularly on any non-human model. Barf.
2. Xhaiden's story (above) is awesome, and if implemented in-game, I would cease all bitching about the PJs forever.
Thank you.

I just really want my Inquisitor to wear a skirt and look elegant and regal in her throne and castle. Or alteast wear her armor in the castle...

They need to allow us to change our "casual" outfit or they need to allow us to wear our armor. Period.
I agree with you on that, wholeheartedly! Our Inquisitor needs to wear armor when she steps out of her quarters. At the War Table, when she/he passes judgments and when on the terrain/ground of Skyhold she/he must be in her armor. This is her/his headquarters (HQ). Why running out in that unfavorable outfit? She is the Inquisitor, and she needs to display it. Full armor when outside her/his quarters is the only way to go here. ![]()

In fact, don't the characters in game argue that the halls of Skyhold must look brilliant, to inspire all who arrive to respect and fear the Inquisition? To take it seriously? And then...your Inquisitor is sitting in a throne in his pj/long underwear. ![]()

Hmph, the people who come before the Inquisitor are so beneath them why even bother to get dressed? Such lowly peasants are lucky if the Inquisitor even brushed their teeth this morning. Why, the Inquisitor can barely even be bothered to roll out of bed long enough to pronounce judgement on whether these bush farmers live or die. >.>
The Inquisitor is secretly a lazy, hung over alcoholic. Its just that they're the only one who can seal rifts so everyone in Skyhold has to put up with it and pretend like nothing is wrong when the Inquisitor shows up cross eyed and still wearing pajamas.
