Just post.

Really, you cannot force genuine seeking of advice if people are content finding answers without posting.  Given this game is already at its last patch, there is little to discuss about how BioWare can improve the game.  So the only real venue for simulating posts would be concerning community achievements or interests, but those mostly have their own sub-forums.

at this point in the lifecycle of NwN, I would venture that this forum primarily serves an informational function more than an interactive function.

However, I enjoy talking about NwN so feel free to post whatever you choose and I might have something to add/debate/discuss.

Part of the problem is that the dozens of PWs each have their own forums, and some of those worlds have a larger posting population than this forum.  Which makes NWN look less alive than it actually is.

Start posting outrageously controversial statements? That is how trolls generate lots of posting.  :)

More seriously, the main thing that comes to mind is simply encouraging more people to play NWN. Fewer people playing the game translates into fewer people talking about it  (as well as many long time veterans tending to do their posting in more specialized forums, having gravitated to a particular niche).

I have started an account here to help increase traffic on this forum and do my part to support this most excellent game.

Usually I post over on the Vault, but I felt like I was missing half the picture.

Feel free to check out my recent projects over there. Alleyslink's Persistent World Base and the Player Character Personality Test.

No real ideas then?

I personally feel that the forum is a bit too chummy and not really for newbies.  The 'Like This' function is an element of my opinion.  I see the same group of people stating they like each others posts over and over again.  It seems a bit of a clique to me.  I may be wrong, but that is my perception.  It may be a true opinion of many others.

An idea?

To those worthies that have created a module, promote it!

To those worthies that have added content to the NWN Community Patches or created various delicious files explain why we will benefit from your work.

No use being the best thing in the fridge if you are hidden in the back, and only noticed when no longer needed.

Tantalize us.

Seduce us.

Give clues, especially on Easter Eggs.

Tell us why your hundreds or thousands of hours of work deserves recognition.

Don't let your work disappear into anonymity.

I enjoy reading the posts here more often than making them myself. I think you all are pretty spiffy.

I'm doing my best.

However, I feel, as a newbie, that this forum is a bit too inclusive, and that may be driving people away.

What I am really impressed with is the amount of time, effort and intellect people spend on creating modules.  I cannot fault any of them.

Hmm, I think there are some things to consider.

First, as players, many people spend more time in game than on forums discussing said game.

Second, people who create modules probably require more forum time, seeking advice from others with more experience.

Third, not all module makers are of the talkative persuasion.

As a recovering World of Warcrack addict, I never spent one day on the forums (only if servers were down). If you are a player of NWN, there are literally thousands of modules to keep you busy. Also, as has already been pointed out, there are many PW and Modding communities whose members probably never even venture to this site, and there is nothing you or I could do to lure them away from their comfort zones.

Many of the people who post here regularly have been playing this game in excess of a decade, and probably know each other quite well. If the atmosphere seems chummy, it is not surprising. BUT, the NWN community is very inclusive and friendly, and I hope people always feel welcome to post here. Truth to tell, the fact that EA even hosts these Legacy Forums warms my heart toward that commercial institution.

There are lurking entities here who do not post because it is not in their character. Some people just aren't forum posters. Fear not, though, there are people like me who do enough talking for ten.
