DAMP is really fun, I'm about 50 hours in.

Scoring isn't just based on killing stuff, every class has their score calculated differently. For example, the Keeper gets most of its points by Barriering their teammates in combat (despite them also being able to inflict damage)

Arcane Warrior, Elementalist, and to a lesser extent, Necromancer and Reaver are the most powerful classes.

But really, any class you roll a good weapon for will be your most powerful

I just spoke with some people who have had this game presumably for more than just a couple of days, and they said "All respec-ing does is increase your stats by 1 every time you prestige."

You don't have to prestige to reset your skill combinations. Just remap the newly acquired skills to the X, Y and B buttons.

There's a finite amount of skill points to allocate however, if you take more than the 4 abilities you are going to primarily use, then you will have to take less of the important passives for your class.

Planning is very important for skill point allocation

So there are two of us in front of a mage door spamming for the the others to join us. One idiot has already run off trying pulled every enemy left and dies. We enter the mage door, notice the pedestal and neither of us opens it because we know what is coming. Meanwhile idiot #2 runs in with a train of enemies and opens the chest anyways.

Still haven't tried MP. SP is pretty awesome, if a tad buggy. Some frustrating stuff gameplay-wise as well- finally unlocked the healing potion upgrade which helps with the highly annoying lack of healing spells and need to travel back to camp and ****** walk back (!!!) all the god damn time. I wonder how bad that is on MP? Are there healing potion capacity upgrades? How frequent do you find the resupply caches?

Sounds like a L2P problem.

MP is structured differently, there are 5 waves, between every wave you get a healing font which heals completely.

The big thing in MP is Barriers, the Keeper can cast this on the front line combatants, and some kits have powers which will either generate life or barrier.

You only have 2 health potions to use throughout the match (generally used for the wave 5 battleground)

Oh yeah, don't stress it the first time you face the Demon Commander, you're going to lose unless in an absolute crushingly good party

The video evidence is inconclusive, it looks like his teammates may have been contributing as well. Also the numbers just don't support it.

The only time I had trouble with healing potions is when my lvl7 party stumbled into the lair of a lvl18 dragon. Aside from that you have to rely a lot on crowd control and barriers to take down high level enemies. I usually pack 5 regenerative potions on each char, they heal a lot more than the standard ones and are excellent at getting your party back in shape while they are under a barrier or otherwise not taking a lot of damage at the moment.

I don't use the tactical cam at all. I don't control my party or change their behaviour. The AI takes care of them and I can concentrate on my mage. My party kicks ass, completes cross class combos and dodges... all without me having to lift a finger.

Craft gear and upgrade it all the time. It really makes a difference. Although I'm in my "just another side quest before I continue with the story" mode from Skyrim again. I'm almost lvl11 and haven't even been in Orlais yet.

There are some spots with infinite enemies and you can farm them easily with a primarily ranged party. Play conservative and carefully. Most of the time I return to camp I only used one or two healing potions.

That being said... I still haven't had time for MP, I'm lagging behind in SP and I only had a brief glance at the game mechanics. Perhaps I should have taken sick days so I could play more... :P

No, through the 5 waves, you can be dropped 3 times and revived, on the 4th drop, you enter into spectator mode. If this happens before the 5th wave, you will be 'reborn' at the healing font in between waves.

Also note, when you are sent into spectator mode, the enemies get stronger for every teammate in spectator .. hence being selective about your party on the top difficulty is required ...

Oh, for some reason that never occurred to me.

Max level 20, default skill points per level up seems to be 2 (although last night, once I surpassed level 10 it may have been 3 per level?). So I understand you correctly, max skill point allocation is likely to be around 40 (2 points per level up?)?

And if you do screw up, well, you're SOL unless you prestige and go back to ... wait, do you have re-unlock your skill branch and earn points to try out different branches all over again (ala Call of Duty's prestige system)?

MP is structured differently, there are 5 waves, between every wave you get a healing font which heals completely.

The big thing in MP is Barriers, the Keeper can cast this on the front line combatants, and some kits have powers which will either generate life or barrier.

You only have 2 health potions to use throughout the match (generally used for the wave 5 battleground

Waves are *much* longer in between though, and the camera doesn't auto-spectate. I tapped all sorts of buttons to see if the camera would zoom in to any of my teammates (without me constantly having to move the analog along for fights I cannot partake in) and... nothing.

There is no auto-heal or self-regenerating shield/health like in ME3, either. Like how after every wave (or even during waves) you can see your shields rejuvenating? You don't have this option at all. Either don't get hit, pray for a Barrier, wait to use one of TWO potions throughout the entire 5 waves, wait 5-10 minutes for the next rejuvenating statue point, or... either don't get hit? XD

Also note, when you are sent into spectator mode, the enemies get stronger for every teammate in spectator

Third time's a ******. The thing is, even once you get comfortable in your character/powers, the enemies get considerably stronger past wave 3 especially with a non-coordinated team. So if you've already been incapped twice and you die past Wave 3, your teammates are trying to keep the wave at bay *while the game just made enemies stronger.*

In ME3 MP, it was just "Oh, we have one less party member. Welp, time to finish off the remaining bosses/mooks."

In DAI MP, it's "We have one less party member and the enemies are now stronger."

I was insanely exited about the multiplayer. Then I found out that you have to play as a bunch of pre made characters and just lost interest. First DLC needs to be player created characters.

Wives are crutch. A wonderful crutch.

================

I'm getting ready to try out the MP soon on the 360 thanks to my Microsoft sister's gift copy of DA:I.  (Sisters are also a crutch).  Frankly, I'm convinced by my biases that I'll be insulted by a bunch of preteen dbags but I''ll give it a shot anyway.  My free chests gave me some cool legionnaire armor and a nifty sword, so I'll hope for some good sword&board experiences.  Regardless, I'm aiming for a PC upgrade and the PC version in a few months and that will probably be my real jump into deep end of the DA:I pool.

@Iggy - only 1 skill point per level

You start with the first tier of each tree, and build them from there

@Tigger - only the starting appearances are pre-set, you can actually change the look of the characters by crafting higher level armors.

The builds for the skill tree's are quite varied. Hence characters can be made several different ways

They have a name and a back story. I was expecting character customization like the single player campaign. This is a step back from ME3.

No but it does have a Demon Commander who teleports underground and comes up under you and instant downs you, and if you see him coming you're already dead

No, we just wipe and try anew. It's pretty common to blast through the 4 levels and end up getting stomped and kicked in the teeth in the final stage. I wouldn't want to play a healer spamming just one power all the time anyway.

Yea, I wanna name my elementalist (N7 Engineer) "Fisto".
