tl;dr

Very good sum-up, and thanks for trying to fix up the PC control schemes.

I gave up for now on the M&Kb and use my greasy old dualshock. Now it feels like playing ME3MP on playstation.

There´s one thing I dislike about the skill tree and promotions.

In ME3, you could be a level 2 and play with your 3 abilities already. In DAMP you have to wait to be a much higher level before unlocking the best ones.

Well, I just only started but so far...

It is sort of fun.

It´s not as addicting as ME.

It is much slower then ME.

I don´t know what I am doing.

We keep wiping on "wave" 5.

Characters keep bumping into everyone and everything all the time.

Battles are hard to navigate through with current controls.

Characters are talking all the time.

There is still no frickin text chat! (BW srsly???)

The game has super nice graphics.

^ throw an HD video up on YouTube ... the only videos I've seen so far have made me think the graphics are decidedly "meh" when compared to The Witcher 2, especially the lighting.

Very true. The plus side obviously being that it's not too heavy on the hardware.

I think Witcher 2 does look better. Witcher 2 have been jaw dropping for me, the whole forest in Chapter I was like out of dream and I don´t think DAI comes close to that.

But it still looks very nice and it seems to me, they tried to fuse "art style" and realism, rather then trying to do it as realistic as possible (though faces in SP are very lifelike)

I will try to upload some video, but my capturing device isn´t all that good :)

The SP graphics are pretty awesome, if you've got the setup to handle them (I don't....unless I want 25-35 FPS all the time.  I'm never going to get used to this shiny hair business :( )

But I wouldn't really expect top end graphics in the MP anyway.  I mean, there has to be a certain level of tradeoff for performance reasons, and the obvious choice is to tone down the textures.

I've read bad things about it, but bought it today anyway. Really hope Biower will fix it.

I got super shiny hair during first cutscene, everything looked like plastic, but then it kind of went away(or maybe it was me trying to tweak everything in video settings)

edit: ok, here is the vid(sorry for hitching. as I said I am not exactly good for recording)

Graphics on ultra in SP look really, really good. Better than unmodded Skyrim, actually. Similiar to Witcher 2 on first glance.

After the initial awe wears off you'll realize BioWare managed that by cleverly re-using NPCs (which are the main resource hogs), maps and animations and using simpler textures whenever possible. It's hard to tell but I don't think hair are mesh textures.

If you played KotOR, you will also recognize a few armor designs and textures. My current mage armor uses the same metallic texture/color as one of the suits in KotOR.

Sadly, I can't play with all settings on ultra because I keep getting Direct X errors, so I had to change a few things. I expect BioWare to fix this soon though.

All together I played 24h now and I have to say, the game isn't as bad as I thought. Yeah, the controls could be better but if you edit the keybindings, it's pretty okay. Still would like a toggle for the RMB, holding it is exhausting.

On the other hand, I am still looking for the part where I get almost addicted to the game. Most BioWare games kept me playing for hours every day, especially when they were new. The Baldur's Gate saga alone kept me busy for ~500 hours, not to mention KotOR and, of course, Mass Effect. But DA:I? Nothing like it. I keep playing and hoping that the next chapter of the story will fascinate me ... but so far it disappointed me.

Imagine it... it's a brand new game, full of new info about my favourite characters... and some evenings I rather play ME3MP or read a book.

I'm simply not in love with this game because beneath the pretty surface there is not much that holds my interest. There are too many parts that feel like work, like collecting resources and crafting (although a better UI might help there).

Some game design elements are baffling. Val Royeaux is supposed to be the capital of Orlais, but it's just the size of a supermarket. Despite that BioWare included 3 fast travel spots to navigate the upper level (which is 95% empty). All other locations are seperate instances.

Assuming I find the time I will write a complete feedback once I finished the game. Something like "attractive and nice but wouldn't bang."

Have you heard of X-Mouse? It's a mouse utility that can reprogram buttons, etc. One of the things it can do is toggle a mouse button held/released by clicking it. That way you wouldn't have to hold it down. It doesn't always play well with all games but it's free.

Yes, that would solve one of a dozen control issues. I'd still need BioWare to fix the rest.

Finally got two kick votes after a game. About time too.

Not sure I actually did anything wrong.

My two cents:

  • Mouse and keyboard controls are awful and I was really disappointed by that. It made me glad I have a 360 controller to use. But even with (or maybe because of) the controller, I still find that I'm often targeting the wrong thing.
  • I wish the combo system was explained a little better. Maybe they explain it more in the SP, but they do seem as easy as tech and biotic combos once you figure out which ones set up and which ones detonate.
  • Always on open mic is terrible. And having no option to turn your own mic off is kind of inexcusable.
  • Combat is pretty good, but sometimes melee fighting can get confusing when there's too much going on.
  • I wish there were more maps. Yes, technically they're randomly generated, but a lot of the tiles spawn often.
  • Wave 5 demons can eat a bag of dicks.
  • An actual reason for promoting your characters is nice, but I wish it wasn't the only way to respec. I don't mind it now, but later on I'll probably hit that point when I just don't feel the need to promote for that extra stat point and don't want to relevel a character to change the build.
  • In-lobby host migration. Finally.
  • The inventory/crafting menus...ugh.
  • I wish useful loot dropped a liiiiittle bit more often.

It sounds like I'm mostly ragging on the game, but I do actually like it overall. It's pretty fun, and y'know, that's the important part.

Is there something comparable to ME3MP's challenge system? Something as motivation to play everything with everything over 9000 times to get some banners and stuff?

Yes, but ME3 SPECTRES should have unlocked them all by now.

Or is it sceptres?

Get it? Because there's magic and stuff.

Holy crap I'm too funny.

Funny how every new game that comes out with an MP is immediately threaded here and compared to ME3 MP by overly obsessed die hard ME3 MP fans. Damn the biased is real

DAI MP is complete garbage. You move like a fat kid with asthma. Solo'd my first match (on the easiest difficulty) just to get a feel for the controls and I had to do three laps of the map to get enough space to fire one arrow. And I still got hit. Zero fun. Whoever designed it is retarded.

EDIT: Just did my first quick search for a public match. Three seconds into the search - Error. You have lost connection to the session...

EDIT 2: Managed to get into one game out of six attempts. Now frozen in "Joining the game session" and can't back out.
