Graphics on ultra in SP look really, really good. Better than unmodded Skyrim, actually. Similiar to Witcher 2 on first glance.
After the initial awe wears off you'll realize BioWare managed that by cleverly re-using NPCs (which are the main resource hogs), maps and animations and using simpler textures whenever possible. It's hard to tell but I don't think hair are mesh textures.
If you played KotOR, you will also recognize a few armor designs and textures. My current mage armor uses the same metallic texture/color as one of the suits in KotOR.
Sadly, I can't play with all settings on ultra because I keep getting Direct X errors, so I had to change a few things. I expect BioWare to fix this soon though.
All together I played 24h now and I have to say, the game isn't as bad as I thought. Yeah, the controls could be better but if you edit the keybindings, it's pretty okay. Still would like a toggle for the RMB, holding it is exhausting.
On the other hand, I am still looking for the part where I get almost addicted to the game. Most BioWare games kept me playing for hours every day, especially when they were new. The Baldur's Gate saga alone kept me busy for ~500 hours, not to mention KotOR and, of course, Mass Effect. But DA:I? Nothing like it. I keep playing and hoping that the next chapter of the story will fascinate me ... but so far it disappointed me.
Imagine it... it's a brand new game, full of new info about my favourite characters... and some evenings I rather play ME3MP or read a book.
I'm simply not in love with this game because beneath the pretty surface there is not much that holds my interest. There are too many parts that feel like work, like collecting resources and crafting (although a better UI might help there).
Some game design elements are baffling. Val Royeaux is supposed to be the capital of Orlais, but it's just the size of a supermarket. Despite that BioWare included 3 fast travel spots to navigate the upper level (which is 95% empty). All other locations are seperate instances.
Assuming I find the time I will write a complete feedback once I finished the game. Something like "attractive and nice but wouldn't bang."
