This is all great.

Id really like to see a video on companions reactions to necromancer.

Also, looking forward to Tempest.

Also I love the reactions to knight enchanter.

On necromancer cassandra notes on it she is just worried that you might become obsessed with corpses like her uncle. I told her its just useful and she was pretty much like thank goodness. XD

Oh and solas says you learned something interesting and he knows of the Mortalitasi and he ask's you why you chose such a discilpine and I said I was interested in learning more about spirits he approved btw.

Cole is not exactly happy and actually explains how necromancy works felt kinda bad actually oh and josie says to keep it on the down low because it does not look good to the chantry and mages.

Even if the Mortalitasi don't raise the dead as said by the inquisitor, josie says that other people don't know that and when they look at neverra and the Mortalitasi they only see crazy stories of death rituals and sacrifices lol. She also says people are nervous enough at me being a Qunari mage.

I am a tempest archer, and the only companion to even say anything was Iron Bull. He thought it was interesting but would be afraid his nipples would catch on fire or something along those lines (my memory is a bit foggy on his exact words) :D

That's interesting. I didn't know that companions reacted to your spec this time around. I didn't take the time to talk to anyone after I picked up Knight Enchanter. I was just like "Nice. Time to test this bad boy out."

Haven't chosen a spec for my Inq yet, but I did get a dialogue where my Inq told Cullen he was thinking of becoming a Templar and Cullen's reaction was something along the lines of "Eh, I wouldn't recommend it but here is some more info on what being one is like."

I'm an artificer and one of my companions said "It's a trap!" when I put one down. xD Can't remember who sadly, I mix them up very often.

Thanks. Really looking forward to the Cole discussion :)

I just got to chat with Varric about being an artificer, and I had the chance to tell him how much I want to make a crossbow like Bianca. It was splendid.  ^_^

Companion reactions are nice, but I was hoping for ways to interact with the main plot with our specializations this time.

So was my Knight Enchanter. I'd gladly defend the Divine, if she allows me.

Knight Enchanter's defended the Divine? Oh Maker! I think I've found the loophole to (heavy spoiler)

As far as I can tell, it matters only in companion dialogue. I picked the reaver spec and Iron Bull could smell the dragon blood on me. We then had a little discussion about it.

Well, I think most of my companions disapproved of me going necromancer, and there was actually some dialogue about it from a number of them. Thank God Cass didn't hate me for it, but she's Nevarran anyway. Mind you, she's not keen on it and talks about her uncle (?) who was a mortalitasi, but she doesn't freak out over it.

She did mention that embalming fluid stinks, more or less, and said something to the effect that she hoped I wasn't going to keep any corpses around. Wish I remember what her exact words were, but yeah, I kind of don't remember exactly what she said at this point because it's been a while.

Yeah, Solas was mostly okay with it too like Bigdoser said. I recall my LI (Blackwall) disapproving a fair bit - lol. Oh, and the conversation with Josephine about it was somewhat amusing.

So far, only Sera and Cole have reacted to me being a rift mage. Cole likes it, Sera doesn't. But Sera doesn't like magic anyway, so she reacts negatively to any kind of magic thing. She basically says "Don't be more magey. Mages are scary, but you're not, but if you keep using magic you will be." Cole really likes that you work with the Fade instead of pulling things out of it.

Varric, Cassandra, Iron Bull, Blackwall, and Josephine haven't commented on it. Maybe they only comment depending on your specialization. Haven't gone to see Solas, Dorian, Cullen, or Vivi's reactions yet.

So am I right in thinking Champion is just another name for Chevalier?

Like you take the spec and you are all but a actual member of the order, like the Templar spec?

NO! A Champion is better than a pitiful Chevalier! You will not rank them together... how dare you even try make that comparison!

By matter I mean: does it have any appreciable effect on the plot? If I become a Reaver will some characters instantly be disgusted with me? Or is there just the occasional bit of flavor dialogue?

Leliana and Sola's talked to me about my choice to be knight enchanter

Solas comments on it as well :P

Necro was quite controversial here. Cole just disapproved (as in both rating and conversation), he said he doesn't want me binding spirits. Solas gets intrigued, he remarks on how Dorian's a necro too and asks why I chose it, he seems to approve because he believes you use unintelligent spirits so it shouldn't matter and is a 'smart strategy'. Cassandra mentions her uncle and hopes you don't become like him. Josephine remarks on how putrid the inquisition's image would be; even if people didn't understand what necromancy truly is.

Yep. Couple more...

Blackwall also disapproves of your choice (as in, you lose approval points when initiating this particular conversation with him), though you can get him to slightly approve with your next response (top-left, I think). Sera calls it "scary," saying that any word beginning in "necro-" is not one she would like, but this conversation will not automatically cost you approval points, though certain responses will (like the bottom-left option). I actually found that one rather touching, as she says something to the effect of ~ 'I know you. You're weird, not scary.'
