He killed Mythal? I thought she/Flemeth just randomly dies in his arms? That's what I get for missing out on sleep, I guess.

His people = Mages.

Actually it's more likely he means the ancient elves or spirits, since we already saw that some of ancients are alive in the Temple mission. As for killing Mythal, I just finished the mission where Morrigan chases Kieran into the fade (I imported the OGB for funzies) and Flemeth pretty clearly said a soul can't be given unwillingly and that Morrigan was never in any danger. Honestly? I would not be surprised at all if she was fine with it, or if she was the one who took over HIS body.

We need a DLC or something to understand what's going on

After he takes off, Leliana informs the Inquisitor via letter that he's more than he seemed to be. The village he claims to be from is an ancient ruin.
I suspected that to be the case. What an amazing twist. I'm so glad the ancient gods are turning out to be powerful ancient fade spirits instead of actual gods.

I've always suspected the elven gods where just powerful spirits or something else but not really a "god" Same with the Old Gods just being powerful dragons.

I instinctively thought he was referring to spirits when he said Elves are not "his people."
In my mage playthrough, I spoke to him about spirits/demons and he was pretty invested in the idea that they're misunderstood, and when I disagreed and basically said they were mindless without free will, he got a bit riled up and I got disapproval. Just a thought.

I think Flemeth/Mythal gave herself rather than being murdered by Solas, and she had the Old God soul too so now he gets that as well? I wonder if he's gathering the spirits of the Old Gods/Forgotten Ones for some reason, maybe trying to undo the Betrayal. (If you drank from the well would you now be bound to Solas' will?) I need some closure after this whirlwind of an amazing character! ![]()

See, how I interpreted that scene was that Solas/Fen'heral was essentially committing suicide by letting Flemeth/Mythal possess him, tying into what Flemeth told Morrigan about her possession needing a willing host, and Solas' general distress and hopelessness at the situation he created.

and why can't powerful spirits be regarded as gods? I don't see why they can't be regarded as deities.

I got the impression that while Solas is the "big bad," he isn't bad so much as morally ambiguous. Did anyone else catch the banter between Varric and Iron Bull regarding the villains in his stories? Varric says something along the lines of the best villains being the ones you don't expect, because they don't see themselves as villains. I honestly think Solas has the best intentions, and sees whatever he's doing as for the greater good.

Well, wasn't one of his first conversation paths about how his ideal world was one where spirits and humans/elves/etc live in harmony, without the Veil separating them?

Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong.
I don't remember specifically, but I feel like you're right. Maybe that's why the orb did what it did? (Though I doubt he was expecting Corypheus to use it that way, or a truckload of demons to start pouring out everywhere.)

I thought that too! But now I just don't know what to think!

yeah, he does say this. But my Quizzy then responded saying, it was interesting but how would it work (paraphrase). Solas than said something about how the current situation in the world wouldn't allow it. So if we operate under the theory that he wants to get rid of the Veil, he would need to change the current world order. So he could have the best of intentions but if he was desiring to destroy the current world to create his ideal world/return the world to how it once was than yeah I think you could call him a villian

Honestly it could really go either way.
Both are valid interpretations. We will just have to wait and see
Oh god 4+ years, pls tell me there is a dlc or expansion in the works. It doesn't have to tell us everything but we need more information otherwise we are all just going to go round and round because there just isn't enough in the epilogue.
