Their post on patching control problems makes this unclear. Does Bioware see the loot scanning and poor loot visibility as a problem, or even when the patch hits, will this still be an issue? Has Bioware commented on loot scanning, and how universally hated it is? I just want them to fix this and auto-attacks so much. They are the worst problems with the game by far.
Is Bioware fixing the loot scanning/visibility problem?

Bioware ain't doing **** right now, they are laughing & counting money of all us gullible shits.
Give it a few months, maybe they'll have a patch out just in time for the Overpriced DLC that gives you whole extra hour of more problems.

I don't even get how it's an issue, I mean click to loot would be nice, but that ties into the bigger problem that tac cam and normal view have a different control scheme now.
What's the big deal about scanning anyway ?

And what's the big deal about seeing the loot? I have no issue whatsoever with that and I'm playing on a 3 year old PC with a barely average video card.

My only issue for PS4 with loot is that the X button is the jump button and if you are not in the right spot you jump instead of picking up loot. I will check and see if I can change that one the controller setting.

Uh, what's wrong with it? Seems to work just fine. And I still don't see how holding down a button to attack is such a huge issue.
It's worse than Origins and DA2. Is that not enough?
Pressing V constantly is not a good way to find loot. Why couldn't this be a toggle? When loot is toggled, why can't it ALWAYS have the text above it? Why does the text only appear when you're super close to it for? This just makes it much harder to see. It should be clearly visible. You shouldn't have to rotate a camera and walk around just to find something that the scanner says is 'nearby'. This is a massive timesink and it's not fun. It's tedious.
Also, being forced to walk up to loot in order to pick it up is tedious too. Prior games moved your character to the location first. Why did they remove this for? It was helpful and made the game less of a chore to play. All of the games since Baldur's Gate did this. Why get rid of an obviously good feature for?
And the lack of auto-attacks just makes the game feel weighty. I have to constantly focus on something that is semantically 1 concept. 1 idea should translate to 1 button or click, but it doesn't here. And even if this doesn't bother you, it is strictly worse compared to previous games or how lots of RPGs work on the PC since the 90's.
Are the controls broken and unplayable? No, but they are massively worse than they were in DA2 or Origins. Worse by miles. There is no reason other than laziness that they are the way they are.
I paid $60 for a PC game that has historically had PC controls coming from a PC-born gaming company. I didn't expect to play a console port. Not for $60.

But you don't have to do that. You can see the stuff on the ground. Walk to the loot, pick it up. No V pressing needed. It's not really hard.

Um, there is an ability to use that allows you to see loot.....this is not that hard.

I know that, but there is often times where you can't visually see stuff, and being able to see a glow with text makes it jump out at you much more easily, especially if you have vision problems. Sometimes you CANNOT SEE IT either. The beep is wrong. You have to adjust the camera and move your character to actually see what it's referring to. Seeing the glow and text with a toggle would fix this.
What I don't understand from Bioware Apologists is why they even bother debating against features that don't impact their gameplay negatively at all and only help everyone.
And if you still don't agree with me, Bioware obviously did from the 1990's until 2012 or so.

I quite like the system but just wish it was a bit easier to see what it highlights.

Visibility is the worse point of the search function. It can be really hard to see what it highlights. There are occasions where you hear the noise but it takes ages to see what its highlighting.

I Agree, the outline isn't clear allot of times, and it can be annoying not knowing if their is loot near or it's just the ladder, maybe replace the outline with the glitter effect from the first 2 games,

I've been having issues with my 'examine this here' things and .... nothing comes on my screen. I don't see anything new in my codex.
I do occasionally have visually problems with the scanner. Specially in the deserts and it not picking up everything.

I don't have a problem with anything. I re-mapped the scanning from V to TAB and I'm perfectly fine with the "sonar" thing, even if sometimes you are running around like a headless chicken trying to see where the heck is the loot (just to find out that it was your table at camp, or some elfroot). Seriously. No problem at all. It's different, but after 30 hours of gameplay I have adjusted nicely. What I do have a problem with is having to walk manually towards the loot in order to actually loot it. I would like my Inquisitor to move her pretty bottom by herself in order to reach the loot I have clicked on. Interaction activated on proximity works fine on a first-person game, but I don't think it makes much sense in a third-person game. I would really love a patch on this, though technically nothing is "broken" with it.
That's great that it works for you, but my proposed changes of adding a toggle and showing the loot names at all times would only make your experience better. And for those of us that really don't like the system, it makes it infinitely more enjoyable to play. It is well worth Bioware's time to implement.

All I'd like with looting is: Let the loot-window pop up from a further distance, and have multiple open up on after the other, if multiple loot-piles are there. You have to be far too close to the loot to activate it for my taste.
The scanning is weird and I had to get used to it, but by now I see it as somethign to do while I travel across the countryside ![]()

Exactly, which is why I posted this. I want confirmation that they are going to fix this. I want them to acknowledge that this needs fixing.

I believe the loot scanning was a design choice and thus will not be patched, as it is not a bug or deficiency per se. Since the scanning mechanism is tied with an Inquisition perk, I'd be very surprised about this being patched. I'm not sure whether I'd call the lack of auto-attack in action mode a design choice or whether it's a programming limitation, but I also think that will not be patched. Auto-attack does exist in tactical-camera, but it's obviously different than it used to be. You can't just essentially set the controller down and let the battle play itself out like you could in DA:O or DA2 - that may also be a design choice.
You can still walk-to-and-loot in tactical camera (at least with a controller). But the removal of it from action mode was a design choice as well I believe, to make action mode more "action"-y. I could be wrong, but it seems like a coherent design.
As to the loot scanner, I don't understand those who cannot SEE the regular loot, especially since it seems a most common complaint on PC. I'm playing on a TV from my couch - how can you not see it on a monitor? And all hidden loot, it prompts you to search somehow (either a quest, a marker, or someone saying, "Let's look around" etc).

Unless the difficulty was turned all the way down, I am not sure how an auto-attack would make the game into one where you could just leave your desk/controller...
The reason an auto attack is essential is because there's even more downtime in DAI than there was in either of the previous games. Cooldowns and low mana have you attacking with your weapon far too much, so auto-attack is actually more necessary now than it ever was.
I haven't got the scanner perk, but they need to make it a toggle and also always show the names of the loot from any distance. This just has to happen. If it doesn't, I'm actually going to ask for a refund, since I can't stand playing the game without these features. I didn't pay 60 bucks for a poor PC port.

While I would like for there to be a couple of minor improvements to the "loot scanning" (higher visibility of items, or some sort of directional indicator would be ideal), my first priority for a patch is a storage chest. Ideally one that we can use to store crafting materials in, and still be able to use them to craft things without having to lug them around all over the world.

They need to remove animation and make looting radius like 3 times wider. Then its ok
