Because he/she is the only one who can disrupt the rifts, I was wondering how wise it would be to make the Inquisitor a tank.

I like being a warrior and tanking sometimes. Its useful and makes me feel very badass. I prefer it to be the PC too, since its my character. But since you can't disrupt rifts when being attacked, I'm wondering if the Inquisitor would be more useful as a rogue or mage, especially since they get passives that make them less likely to be targeted and the mage gets that awesome zoom ability,

The story revolves around Mages, as usual, so you get a bit more dialogue referring to you as a Mage. You are in the thick of the narrative as that class.

But yes, the game plays better for ranged characters period. And as a Mage you can get the Knights Enchanter specialisation and be a melee fighter if you really want to.

The AI is pretty good at tanking as well on Normal difficulty anyways.

I'm playing as a Mage at the moment and I enjoy the freedom it gives me on the battlefield. Cassandra tanks, Solas supports and myself plus the other can pick our targets and whittle things down.

I also have this question.. If your inquisitior is the tank, and he is the one who has to stop what he's doing to close the rifts... Doesn't sound like a very good strategy (at least on higher difficulties).

Your channel (closing rift ability) gets interrupted wjen you're hit, GL doing that with tank :D

Worth noting, you don't have to interrupt the rifts. You could just kill the waves normally then close it, as you can only close it once all demons are dead anyways, interrupting just does some damage/stuns them.

I find a better strategy is to use dispel and stop the demons spawning in the first place.

Well really it would be harder for a tank to disrupt rifts, since being a tank you will most of the time have many angry enemies beating you up, AND your disrupt gets.. disrupted if you are hit during that time... so yeah.. make a rogue, go to stealth and then disrupt, if you are concerned about disrupting the rifts :P

Better yet, just make any race/class inquisitor you want... it doesn't impact the game in any big way.

I've never found playing a tank fun, personally. However if you really want to I would say disrupting the rifts is nowhere near that important. Half the time I don't even bother.

Cast dispel with your mage on the little circles that represent the spawn points for the new demons before they spawn. You know the rift sends out these wavy glowing light down on circles ont he floor? and the demons rise up from those? Right so before the demons rise up you cast Dispel on as many of those areas as you can.

Personally, I've really enjoyed playing the Inquisitor as a sword and shield warrior. Very much a tank, but very capable of dealing damage. Always in the thick of the battle and taking/giving hits.

I love it!

Also...grappling hook is amazing <3

You mean those green puddles that are linked to the rift, correct? I'll try that next time. Thanks!
