So I've played through 20ish hours with two different characters, and on both I've noticed that I'm not really getting new armors and weapons at any real rate. I start with the equipment after the prologue, and then the next decent weapon up from that is a Fereldan Captain's Longsword (if I remember correctly), after that, it's a crafted Waveblade. Pretty much the same for armor. Finding the same Vanguard pieces over and over.

 

Where can I find good schematics for weapons and armor? Using the same gear for so long isn't all that fun. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places.

 

Tips?

I'm playing a mage, but I haven't found any good weapon schematics for any class. Random drops have been decent though, if not ideal. The dog merchant in the Hissing Wastes has the best armor schematics that I have found so far. I think the closest to that pic you can get is from schematics at this vendor actually. Battlemaster armor for warrior, Battle Mage for mages. The schematics for the accompanying arms and legs are also at this vendor. 

 

On a related note the drop for rings is terrible too. I'm 40 hours in and haven't gotten a single ring for my mage. I want a ring to boost my Static Cage so bad, but all I have gotten have been for rogue or warrior skills.
