What is the difference between "defend" and "follow" in the new, um, "streamlined" AI tactics? Practically speaking, not in theory. Does "defend" attack whoever is attacking the defended, whereas "follow" attacks the target of the followed?
It seems like "follow" is much more straightforward. Set Varric to follow Cass, and Varric will attack the Templar tank that she's attacking. If he goes down and Cass switches to the next target, he will switch to the same.
"Defend" is harder to sort out, for me at least. For instance, if I set Solas to defend Cass, will he start blasting the archer that just opened up on her? Will he focus only on the three melee attackers she's gathered around herself. Will he switch between them based on who just did the most damage (or switch to the mage that just fireballed her)? Does it mean he's more likely to buff her with barrier? Is this why he's running around the battlefield all the time, trying to line up shots on his constantly changing targets?
Inquiring minds want to know.
