Is anybody else having issues with not getting drops that yeild cloth when salvaged?
I've got plenty of different kinds of metals and leathers, even after unlocking multiple classes with them, but I can't seem to get any stacks of cloth large enough to unlock Necromancer or Elementalist or Alchemist, or to make the Enlightened Warrior's Armor for my Arcane Warrior (which took me 2 days worth of playing and salvaging to unlock in the first place)
Is cloth really that $^#@*(#@ rare, or does the PRNG just hate me?

Cloth is from staves, light armor, and runes.
Unfortunately they all seems to be the rarest things to find.

Instead of unlocking other classes, save your cloth. You realize it takes 4-7+ cloth to make the armor for even a non-mage, yeah? Well, just keep on saving instead of unlocking that other rogue class you aren't as interested in. ![]()
But yes, cloth is harder to come by. I've actually had instances where I've gotten iron from a staff before. I cried a bit inside. ![]()

Iron from a staff? You can reverse engineer stuff? How?
Edit: oh, this is for multiplayer... Having issues getting cloth in single player. Ah well.

I am level 62 and have only been able to craft one new item of armour, the necromancer.

Please rng, give me some cloth.

You can get lots of cloth by salvaging your armor upgrades. Totally worth it.

My problem is that I never seem to get the mage items to dissasemble. I opened 6 chests back to back tonight....only got 3 staves. 10 Longbows however. I have about double metal and double leather compared to cloth. Problem is that there are two types of weapons for warrior and two types for rogue but only one mage weapon.
I could unlock the rest of the warrior or rogue classes right now but I'm trying to get the damn necromancer, which seems to need more stuff than either the arcane warrior or the elementalist.

I guess I'm the only one who can never find leather?
Nope. I always seem to be low on leather, not cloth. Probably because i play medium armor rogues, so I dont salvage gear that provides it as much.

I'm going nuts trying to get cloth as well. To me the drop rates for cloth items is much lower than for metal or leather. I've salvaged multiple swords, daggers, axes - i've salvaged a handful of staves and 2 or 3 light armor items.

I believe this is the issue. It is poorly balanced and should be tweaked, perhaps by giving warrior and rogue weapons a 50% chance of giving cloth as an additional material.

Wouldn't it be more logical to double the cloth from staves instead of making warrior/rogue weapons give them?

I think they should just increase how often staves drop. aside from just getting cloth, it would also be nice if I had a new weapon to actually use. I've been using the same staff since i started playing. It's a level 6 (or maybe 8) staff. I've yet to get a blue staff that was actually useful. I've got several warrior/rogue blue items that would be useful were i playing one of those classes. Hell, i've got duplicates of the same exact item for those classes that are better then the staff I have now.

It'd be a nice thought if they just sold material boxes separately, much like the potion chests only they give you X amount of cloth/metal/leather.

Salvage armor upgrades.

I've been salvaging pretty much every single item that drops cloth. I have one solitary light armor upgrade that i haven't salvaged because it's a blue item and its the only and only blue light armor upgrade i've gotten. so i might actually use it instead of scrapping it.

Cloth seems harder to get than other materials only because its mostly comes from staves. Even when you break a staff down you get metal. Most of the weapons break down into metal. For me it seems metal>leather>cloth.
It seems pointless to make a comment " well i get tons of cloth". If you do you probably get 2x the metal.

Not true at all. I get staves all the time, and quite a few low tier runes.

It is true. Both rogue and warrior weapons drop about twice as often, they have two different types of weapons and even shields. The loot tables are not balanced for salvaging cloth in mind. Anyone can confirm this.
Runes salvage for all three types of materials, so not even runes balance it out.
Hopefully this gets addressed, unless they had some design philosophy in mind where cloth is supposed to be rare for some reason.

Yeah. The philosophy is grind the hell out of multiplayer, waste your upgrades on gear that just gets replaced by better gear, and buy more chests with Platinum.

i get staves occasionally, but not nearly as often as i get other weapon types. And i've gotten several blue swords/daggers/axes that were decent for those classes, but i haven't gotten a single decent blue staff. I think i got one blue staff so far but it was a very low lvl item - the non-blue staff i have now (which is only lvl 8 i think) is better than the low lvl blue one i got.
I actually got a lvl 16 staff a few days ago, but i'm still using the lvl 8 because I used a rune on the lvl 8 just before i got the 16 and with the rune, the lvl 8 does a bit more damage. As of yet, i've only ever gotten a single rune that i could use with a staff.
So yeah, from my experience the game is horribly unbalanced for anyone using staffs.
