Please add an option to permanently remove the quest tracker. I selected the option to fade it but it still appears when I unpause and then it stays on screen for too long. I don't usually complain about games because most things are artistic choice but something about this feels really patronizing. It feels like the game has been fool proofed. I mean we have a map marker, a journal and a constant reminder on screen.

Imagine if when you were watching Breaking Bad and after every commercial break or every 10 minutes on DVD or online they had "previously on Breaking Bad" play for 10 seconds. Wouldn't you feel a little insulted? That's what this feels like. I JUST heard the dude tell me where to go 1 second ago and it was really dramatic! I'm actually having a hard time unseeing that. Why are you telling me again?

What is going on where people need three reminders of what they're doing and one of them is nearly constant? Are they listening to the story at all? I understand that quests can mount up but that's what the journal is for. The journal is the most accessible one I've seen in an RPG so there's no excused to not just read it. It's very distracting and, to me, extremely irritating to have a reminder every time I unpause the game as if the game developers think that I will have forgotten what I'm doing. Maybe if I quit the game and reload the following day then yes, a reminder would be nice (but still be too much for me) but just please patch in the option to switch it off completely or lower the timer to 0 seconds. I'm not saying remove the current options, just add an extra check box or third option.

I'm sorry if this sounds obnoxious, I can't stand when people whine about little things like this and now I'm doing it and I don't like sounding elitist, I understand that games need to be accessible to those who are just starting out but at least add options to make these features less intrusive on consoles. I end up feeling like you think I'm stupid or that you're compromising my experience because beginners might be playing. It feels like you're chewing my food for me. It's like you've completely overlooked the fact that people loved Dragon Age: Origins and immersed themselves in it. Most people playing are returning for more, those are who will ultimately keep the series alive, long term loyalty is surely preferable to short term gain?

Again, sorry if I sound like a whining, nit-picky idiot, I just loved Dragon Age Origins and never needed this kind of reminder on screen, (even Skyrim with it's infinite quests didn't have this) the story is already immersive enough to where I care about it and will remember it for years to come, let alone forget it after I pause for a few minutes. Just let me use the journal and map marker, they're enough.

Other than that the game is beautiful and wonderfully detailed and the characters are amazing. So thanks, I love these games. And now I've officially joined the ranks of whining white noise.

(I do wonder though, some people who tested the game must have watched the cut scenes, taken part in the conversation and then forgot what they were just told and said, or maybe they just play to fight stuff? In which case why are they playing an RPG? The story is part of the game, if someone can't run and jump in Mario should we add an auto play button where they just get to watch a replay as they mime along? Because it feels like that's where we're going to end up. I hate using the word but we're slowly nerfing games. (Far Cry 4 has "streamlined" a lot of things) If things keep heading down this road newer games are going to feel like the Cliff's Notes versions of their prequels. Imagine replacing Shakespeare with a user friendly, accessible summary. SO much would lost but you could argue that the story is put across and technically the purpose of it remains unchanged. But it would become mediocre, it loses everything that makes it special. This happening to games is frustrating to the players and, I imagine, infinitely more frustrating for the developers, the people who have a complete vision that they're compromising just so someone doesn't feel "left out" or "offended". Oh wait, I just had an idea, how about in soccer we put a magnet in the ball and a little peice of cobalt in each player's shoe? That way anyone who wants to play doesn't have to develop a skill or become accustomed to the game at all. They can just run with a ball stuck to their foot.)

By the way, what's the point in the "search" button if everything has "LOOT" written above it? Surely that can be turned off? I prefered how it was in Dragon Age: Origins where you had to hold down tab to see interactive objects. It's like having tab permanently held down in Origins. These little things drag me out of the game.

I second this. I mean there isn't even an option to turn off the HUD for screenshots... WTF. That's just lazy for an RPG, especially one that is aspiring to the beauty of Skyrim (which has an invisible HUD option).

One question to the original poster: why is being an elitist a bad conception? There is nothing wrong with that.

I wholly support your post as complexity brings immersion.

@Bioware

I'm guessing we'll never get the option in DAI, so please allow us to completely remove the quest tracker in DA4.
