Does rogue/warrior class type matter ?

Hello!

I was wondering if the choice of dual-wield/archer (rogue) and one-handed-shield/two-handed (warrior) matter when choosing what class to play?

Is it "safe" to change weapon type later on if you feel like the one you chose in the character creator wasn't right?

I know we can reset abilities so that's not what I'm asking. What I'm asking is if it will affect what loot and rewards you get for quests etc.

Thankful for all the help!

I believe that what you are talking about is mostly for the tutorial, with the first weapon(s). Never tried DW/Archer rogues or S&S warrior, but I would assume that the "class" you choose at the CC screen is more of a "what weapon(s) you start off with" type thing.

Does not really matter what weapon style your character is, as long as the abilities match the weapons.

All right, thanks mate. I believe (and hope) you're right!

As far as I could tell anyways. Others may be better at telling you. All I know is that the "class" you choose in the start is what gives you the starting weapons, and you can put points into any tree. I usually do two handed with Vanguard, and am currently debating between Champion and Templar for the specialization (a Dalish Templar sounds like an awesome contradiction).

The weapon type you choose is only important for two reasons: so the game knows what weapon to give you, and so it knows what abilities you start with. Once you get to Haven, the choice becomes mostly irrelevant, as you can change when and as often as you wish, but until you get there, it has to give you a weapon and abilities to use through the tutorial.

I haven't tested this, but I assume that the selection at the start of the game tells the engine how to auto-level your character. If true, it does matter what build you choose.
