Cause right now I see it as being 4 stages if fun and then get brutally slaughtered by demon commander on the 5th.

And then level up your char or gear them up as much as possible IN HOPES next time you will beat it.

Nope. Back and try and get stronger.

Level 10? Didn't cut it.

11 no
12 no
18 no

So what is the point of multiplayer again? Infuriating loyal players?

I view it as an attempt, to try and recreate the enjoyment that players got from Mass Effect 3's non-competetive co-op.
Obviously with a different theme.

Has that attempt been successful? I'm not quite sure yet.

If I was level 18 and struggled with the demon commander I think it's time to re-evaluate how you're playing during the fight.

Don't know what you're doing wrong.  I finished Routine with 4 level one characters.  Necro, Keeper, Templar, Archer.  And we did it fairly easily.  No special gear or anything, just knew how to play our toons.  Me Freezing elites and panicking those that get too close help tremendously.  Keeper casting timely barriers helps tremendously.  Templar shield blocking corridors helps.  Archer knocking down and AoE fireblasting enemies helps.   All it takes is a little brain work

The point was for a game studio to prove that gamers will play an unfinished product. Rubberbanding & disconnects & system freeze but gamers still pay $70 & luv it. They paved the way for future games to be even more full of issues. Ingenious.

The point is to have something to play until the next BioWare game comes out. The Single-player only lasts for 100 or so hours but the Multiplayer has the potential to give thousands of hours of enjoyment.

You can't beat one boss, therefore the whole MP game mode is pointless? Another classic Neuromancer post.

I was also in a PUG that beat the Demon commander, all below lvl 10. Didn't have any special gear.

The point of MP is to be brutally killed by the demon commander.

We all have our roles to play in the Inquisition, and some of those roles are to be dismembered by demonic beings so that, when the Inquisitor saves the day, it looks like he or she had a hard job (as opposed to actually spending most of their time picking elfroot and slaughtering nugs)..

If you're wiping at level 18 on him, then it's you playing badly, not the game being too tough.  Are you speccing correctly, how is your gear, etc.  Are you talking with the other players to discuss tactics?  Are you even USING tactics, or are you just running headlong at him and praying for the best?  Do you use your potions?  This stuff is part of the balance, and if you don't use it, you will die.

Well said.If someone doesn't like the multiplayer mode then thats fine. The point of this mode is to have fun grinding for better loot and unlocking new characters. If you enjoy winning rethink your tactics. If that doesn't work then this game mode isn't for you. There is no deep thought provoking answer to your question. It's there for players to have fun. :)

Having said that though. What makes the Demon Commander so special that you need to be extremely strict about your static, in comparison to other bosses of equal difficulty?
Even when there doesn't seem to be any extra reward for beating him.

My party would prefer to choose what classes/skills they enjoy using against the Red Templars and the Venatori rather than being strictly consigned to a single composition in order to at least best "that" boss.

It's starting to get to a point where if we even remotely hear the word "demons" as the session starts, we exit to face the other factions.

To be fair, even a solid plan can go sideways pretty quickly on that boss.

In general, I think people are overrating the impact of level and under rating the importance of gear.

I was in a group of all lvl 9's and we beat the Demon Commander.

My Keeper is spec'd for Barrier/Support

The Legioneer tanked

The other keeper did damage

The Rogue fire'd shots

We also had potions and good teammwork...and we won. So it can be done with the right group.

It sounds like you haven't been playing MP at all.
People ARE overrating the importance of character level because the game tells them to, and it's just about the only thing you can prove when you are in a lobby.

I saw some nugs the other day and was like CHAIN LIGHTNING. All of my party members gave me slight disapproval and Cassandra goes "Was that really necessary?"

Since that day whenever I see a nug I switch to Cassandra and make her kill it.

I approve of your industry, sir.  Alas, my dual wield rogue only has the option to shadow strike all the nugs.  Still, "slight disapproval" would be the least of your worries, if Leliana were also present.  I imagine it'd be something like "SCHMOOPLES, NO", followed by instant death.

The character level makes no big difference if you are clueless how to play and is not coordinated (coordination does not means VoIP , it means acting as team and complementing each ones role and have team tactics approach.). If you do not have it you will fail with 4 lvl 20 characters. One of pros of this game that it rewards things that should be rewarded.

Loving this so far. A slow burn I suspect - only up to level 9 of my Archer, but good times.

It's a game. Not a car. Games are played for entertainment purpose. People have different entertainment preferences. People also drive all kinds of different cars.

Multiplayer in DAI - Pointless gear grind.

Seriously if people want to have the best experience of playing a free multiplayer game, Team Fortress 2 and DoTA 2 are the way to go.
