You cannot sprint away from his underground strike every time.  The radius is large enough and the warning is too late to make it 100% avoidable.  Even when you know it is coming it can still get you.  It really is a cheap fight just like the Geth were from ME3.

Sure you can... it all depends on that lag though. With a character that doesnt have an obvious escape skill, I start running right as he enters the ground. This is to pick up the pace early. In games with low lag or no lag at all, this should work every time.

I've played many threatening rounds with him and the best composition I saw is ... Arcane tank, Keeper, elementalist and alchemist with fire elexier bombing, poison AOE and evade. Elementlist cover with aoe from range and range shots trash and DC. Alchy evading non stop , sometimes closing gap to drop a lot of bombs and poison on him (with barrier) and ocassionally on new wave of trash . 0 revives during all combat. Barriers, ranged, AOE and evade.

You know, he's not the only one that can do it on threatening, but an AW built right can solo the demon commander (or anything) on Perilous. So threatening should be childs play for him. Just stand still, generate barrier on mobs and fade cloak when the demon commander uppercuts. Have a smoke while you're at it.

My thoughts, essentially. As long as your tank is competent and your team gets rid of the trash mobs (along with the fear demon and the other mini terror).

Also STAIRS. Seriously, I'm so happy about that.

haha happy someone is spreading the knowledge.

there's a way kill him without taking any dmg by having someone on his back just using normal attacks but i prefer using that when I'm soloing

Great guide! But a note on running away from the underground insta-kill attack of doom:

Sprinting alone CAN work sometimes, if you're the host. But what I find is more reliable is to watch for the smoke signal/light flicker that shows up on the ground right before he pops up. When he sees this, JUMP. If you do it while sprinting, it works almost 100% of the time. Unless you get rubber-banded...

Back in november 23 when the post you quoted was written, there weren't many people thinking about perilous.

Basically, yeah.  I've had my legionaire wail on him as he slowly started sauntering off to lord knows where.  Doesn't happen all the time, at least for me anyway, there may be a trick to it.  Dunno.  But it happens often enough that it's not a super rare thing.

i would compare to banshee teleport thought wall and synch kill

geth stun lock may still escape

1 hit kill is much cheaper

just like the enemy watch me and i die

Bunny hop while you sprint-flee after the demon commander goes underground.

Since I've started doing this and paying attention to the DC's pattern, I haven't been hit.

Either the attack registers based on character height or jumping helps you move a bit further. Simply sprinting, even while diligently watching the DC, didn't seem to be enough for me.

My best shot with the demon commander has usually been the katari. When I see his cue i combat roll out of the way. Come back at him with bull rush, gain some guard. Then attack him for a few swings. When I see his area attack I'll keep swinging, take the hit. Then if you take the upgrade to combat roll, you can break the paralyze with it. I keep up this routine until he's down. Other than that it's usually evade or try and block with shield and hope that I make it.

It's one of the worst bosses I've ever seen. Every time I play against it I have to cut another growth of cancer away.
