Might there be a patch allowing triple core processors to run the game, or will bioware just give me a middle finger and a smug smile?

Because i think its pretty f***ing disgusting that they failed to mention that duel core and triple core processors straight up REFUSE to run the game. I was so looking foward to the game for months, and the 6 hours of installing was agony...and then to find out i straight-up can NOT run the game with a triple core processor was crushing. All just seems so ridiculous, too, since i ran Shadow of Mordor at 60 FPS

You do know what "minimum system requirements" means?

I don't think i've ever played a game where one failure in minimum requirements means it won't even let you attempt to run the game

Technically having a triple core is above the standard dual core, and this exceeds the "minimum system requirements".

You may be able to get your refund, if you're within your 24 hour limit. I'm sad that you couldn't get the game to run. Good luck.

not because of your CPU but because of your inability to read the official minimum system requirements.

Minimum is quad core, not dual core. It was clearly stated in the minimum specs.

Shadow or mordor also says it requires a quad core processor and yet i not only ran it, but ran it at 60 FPS.

  • MINIMUM:
    • OS: 64-bit: Vista SP2, Win 7 SP1, Win 8.1
    • Processor: Intel Core i5-750, 2.67 GHz | AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz

then be happy that your PC can run SoM, but dont complain when you cant run a game on a PC which is below the minimum specs.

Successfully running one game without meeting the minimum specs does not grant you the expectation that it will work for a completely different game.

It's not even like I knew i didn't meet the required specs. I had no idea i had a triple-core CPU. I would then totally understand if the game then performed badly, but to get stuck on the very first loading screen - thus rendering it broken - is ridiculous. I have NEVER experiences anything like this, and clearly, the 650 people who reported the same problem haven't either. So stop acting like Bioware is completely innocent, and it is entirely my mistake, because its not. Bioware could at least make it much more clear that the game WILL NOT RUN with triple and qaud cores, instead of blatantly scamming all of us out of our 50 POUND (80 DOLLARS)

Try this.  It worked for others with dual core:

That trick works only if you have an integrated GPU graphic card. If you don't you are out of luck.

I've played a couple, and plenty where the game launched but was not playable. KotOR with a vidcard that didn't have hardware T&L, for instance. It'd run, but you couldn't see anything in indoor areas because the lighting didn't work. Bio plainly said it wouldn't run, and they were right. (I was sad, since other than not having that featre the Kyro II was still a fine CPU.)

You rolled the dice and they came up snake-eyes. That's a shame, but Bio doesn't owe you anything. Pro tip: if you're below min specs for a game, wait a couple of days and let someone else try to run it that way first.

I know you probably don't want to hear this but the best solution at this point is for you to buy a quad-core. The older Core-Ixx are very cheap nowadays and perfectly affordable. In ebay, then, there are some very very good offers (it would cost to you less than another game).

so it is Bioware´s fault that you dont know how many cores your CPU have? they said "minimum is quadcore", you dont have a quadcore, that simple.

Pro tip#2: learn what these terms mean and what you have in your rig. You signed on for this when you decided to play on PC instead of console.

You mean swap in a new CPU to his existing rig? That might be a bit much, even assuming his mobo can take an upgrade.

Bioware is not responsible or liable for someone who didn't read the minimum requirements to play their game.

Do not assume because you jipped out on Shadows of Mordor that you can simply ignore requirements on a different game from an entirely different company.

You aren't going to get a refund unless this is within the first 24 hours or so probably. Because it was your responsibility to ensure whether or not you could run the game before purchasing it. Bioware did it's part by making this information publicly announced, months in advance.

The people who don't read these instructions, aren't being robbed. This is a title that is relatively advanced and new to the game market. It should be common protocol to check if you can run it or not. Computers sometimes require upgrades to play newer gen-games too, you know.

I will, but seeing how i'm a full-time college student who just lost 50 pounds, i would have to wait until christmas until i can afford it. which is another month, and 50 - 100 more for this game.

buy a sufficient CPU, and pay attention to the minimum requirements next time.

You are far from being the the only one who paid money for this game and can't play it because of this bug. And it is nothing but a bug, because there is no reason whatsoever for any software to just crash on a certain number of CPU cores. If they really had thought that four cores are necessary, they would have told their users so with a simple message box. But in reality, there is simply no technical reason for it. Of course a software can run slower on less cores, but with proper programming that respects some general standards of programming, it does not require a certain number of CPU cores to function, and certainly not to at least start and play some intro video.

The main problem here is as usual EA and their policy of ignoring bugs and not communicating in the least with their paying customers. Even if they really didn't plan to fix this bug, they could at least say so.
