Update 25/11: I implore anyone experiencing this problem to head over to this thread and report your issues, providing as much information as possible. One of the developers has responded and is currently looking into it for us, so there is some progress.

My companions seem awfully quiet to me. Wandering around the Hinterlands in silence is not very fun. I'm ten hours into the game and I think only one banter triggered, between Cass and Varric.

I'm starting to worry that this is a bug on last-gen consoles. I've watched some PS4 gameplay that was pretty early on in the game and I was hearing stuff I've not even heard yet. Anyone else getting the same thing?

Yeah, I went through the game barely hearing any and with not much music playing as you wandered, it was far too quiet.

What are you playing on?

I saw 2 topics about this already, so you're not alone.

Weird, I hav music playing while exploring the Hinterlands every two minutes or so. Sure it's not constant but it's hardly quiet neither. It's true that there's not nearly as much banter between party members as in II, but so far it seems to be similar to Origins in that regard. Seems to be plenty of it at least, and being able to join in is a nice bonus.

Milky, I am playing on the PS4. I'm not sure if it's a big or my companions don't have much banter programmed for them?

Solas is pretty quiet.

Other people hardly ever shut up.

Well I'm getting the music and ambience. Just no banter. Sometimes my companions will comment on stuff or warn me of enemies, but they don't really interact with eachother, sadly.

I've seen only three banters so far.  Been playing about 10 hours *shrug*

Have you tried spending some time in Val Roux (spelling?)? I get quite a bit of banter there for some reason.

Yeah, you're not alone. I was wondering the same thing for the first 20 hours of me playing the game. I've heard some banter, but it's rather rare for me. I also have the same issue with the music. I've spent far too much time exploring areas and fighting enemies with no music on whatsoever. It's rather jarring.

I'm on PS3 and my companions talk a lot.  (I've mostly used Cass, Varric, and Solas so far) Maybe every ten mins?  If they aren't talking at all, sounds like a bug...

That's very weird. Maybe something to do with party combinations? Just had Solas and Cassandra talk to each other twice within five minutes in my game. I guess there are no area triggers like in Origins and II.

Yeah I had this same problem. There's very little party banter from what I've seen.

Lucky you. In my game, I don't think they know the other exists despite fighting alongside eachother for ten hours!

Cole and Sera. Cole and blackwall. Cole and iron bull (that was pretty funny) Sera and Solas .
Iron bull and Vivienne. Dorian and Sera. Solas and Vivienne. There's not a ton of banter and sometimes it starts just as you click on to go into somewhere that needs a loading screen

Cass doesn't talk much. I haven't used varric much (Sera and Cole are more useful)

They have a bit more banter outside the hinterlands

There isn't much banter, I think it is sparse if you always run with the same group. I also find that Varric is usually at the center of most of the banter. When I don't have him in the group, it is pretty quiet for long periods of time, but when he is there it is more lively.

Not a huge difference though, but it is good when he gets some banter going with the whole group. Had it a few times where Varric, Cassandra and Solas all engage in banter. And had my Inquisitor included a couple of times too.

I have found the most banter so far between Solas & Sera, awesome stuff, I guess some of it depends on the humour you like.

I found the first 3 you get quite low on the banter front. The others seem to have injected life into things, more extreme views & outlooks.

I haven't found definite trigger areas like in Origins and 2.  Sometimes I go forever without any banter, then other times its like one after another
