Really? He was the hardest fight in the entire game for me. Perhaps I was just under-leveled, or picked an insufficient party, but he was the one fight that took me multiple reloads in order to succeed.

Just like rest of the game, easy meat. I beat him in Nightmare mode in level 13 in first try. Only Pride demon form really dealt any damage to my warriors. It was just a long slog to remove his guard multiple times since at those levels I did not have the war horn trick you can combine with the shield bash.
So basically all you need is gear and you can faceroll most enemies. Enough +% for right resistance and high armor value. Challenge level goes up if you don`t use any crafting. I actually suspect they have balanced the difficulty levels for world loot and not crafted one.

I share your disappointment, OP. Same with the revenants, which even outlevelled me. Back then when they slayed my entire party at a single blow. That thrill before breaking a black vial, that self-hate afterwards... Ah, good ol' times...

I thought he was extremely easy; I didn't even pop a single potion. The fight with the red templars and giants before him were 10 times more difficult; those I wiped on like twice.
