I recently got the urge to play NWN2 again, and realized pretty quickly that things have changed a lot since the last time i was "active", like the vault going down (i know about the "backup" though) and such. It have taken me almost the whole day...yea, but now i finally have all the expansions installed (not westgate or whatever it's name was), and i'm at the latest patch. Now i'm wondering:

Are there any packs/patches that fixes errors and bugs that might still be present after the "final" patch? (not packs that add new content though, like Kaedrin's PrC pack and such. No use using a non-final pack that isn't released to the public anymore imo)

I'm specifically looking for packs/patches that fix any major bugs, errors in how a spell/feat works and it's pre-requirements and such, if any of them are still present.

I have looked around a lot and and all the different compabilities, mergers, versions and whatnot is just driving me insane! For now i just want to play the vanilla game with as few bugs and errors as possible. I'm most grateful for any help.

(Just in case i'll add that i'm using "Tchos HD Widescreen Menu and Loading Screen" and "Tchos hd ui panels and dialogue" mods already)

I always recommend Skywing's NWN2 Client Extension.  Fixes engine-level bugs.

Do i need a pack like this (http://neverwinterva...nd-improvements) or is it obsolete with the aformented patches/packs installed and/or not really bug-fixes and more about personal opinion of the author?

that's a bit of everything. But i'd suggest holding off on a spell compilation and just play barebones for a while .. there are problems with spells and there's no comprehensive fix for them, imo

Yes, I believe so, as long as all the other files that come with it are also in the same folder (the same one where your executable is).

I tried it and it seems to work, haven't tried multiplayer yet though, if that is even possible anymore (*Is very noob*).

Thanks you two for answering my questions in a straight forward and ordely fashion! I am sorry if i seem stupid or such (I have ADHD and Aspergers + that it is in the middle of the night here in Sweden, so my brain isn't exactly "fit for fight" at the moment, heh.)

Now to enjoy some NWN2! (Hopefully ;))

With the Client extension you will be able to play on line on any of the PW's that are currently online.

It works, just some minor stuttering/lag at times, which if i recall correctly, should be expected. The game doesn't seem as good as i remember though, and not THAT good compared to NWN1 o.O

It's 100% better if a controllable party is your primary criterion.

Why are you here if NWN1 is better? It's still around.

Because i only like NWN1 and i'm totally here to just bash on NWN2, right?.

Seriously though, iirc there was/is kind of two camps, a NWN1 and a NWN2 camp, but what's with the prejudice?

(Also note that i said "doesn't seem" rather than "it isn't", maybe it will change when i get further into the game, otherwise i could indeed go back to NWN1, or maybe even hit up ol' IWD again, since i've never actually beaten IWD1&2..)

If you have a somewhat decent computer be sure to get these graphics updates. The graphical quality will be less than the new Dragon Age games (of course) but not by much. At least in my own experience and so long as the area you are in isn't terribly designed / textured. I admit that the area quality on Baldur's Gate: The Sword Coast Chronicles persistent world has spoiled me though. There are some crazy good area designers there.   :)

Many gamers have surprisingly strong preferences regarding the style of games they play, so there is some inclination to prefer one over the other. Both games have their strengths and weaknesses. But there have been some lengthy threads discussing the topic, and this topic category probably isn't the best place.

If you are interested in revisiting IWD, you might want to take a look at the NWN2 version.

I had forgotten about that, lol. I indeed will have to check it out!
