While I do understand that Bioware has explained why they used this new type of camera angle, I can't get past how impersonal it makes the game feel. In past games even in side quests you had face to face cinematics, which made them feel part of the story.
In DA:I however, all you get is just a shot of them chatting from a ways away. To me this made it feel like the side quests weren't important or part of the main game. To agree with what others have compared it to, it feels very much like how dialogue goes in MMOs. It's just a shame since I adore the game, but it began to feel tedious to do the amazing number of side quests and seemingly get no reward for it story wise. (Other than power)
Which brings me to asking, how many others feel the same way? I wish they had gone with cutscenes, no matter how simple, when it came to the non main storyline quests.
Perhaps it's far too much to hope for a patch or something to give us that. Either way, I love the game, I just feel they would have made it so much better and engaging, personally.
Cinematic views for the side quests?

I do
Impersonal, yes... that's the word
Felt more like checklists: ask a question, get a quest, do the quest, return, say a thing and be done with it

They aren't cinematic so that you can have more conversations. Many chats with the companions aren't cinematic either but provide a lot of interesting knowledge. When you get cinematic you know you are in for a treat

But shouldn't the whole game feel like that? Why trudge through what should be important immersive quest and story opportunities for a few scenes where you actually see your expressions when you talk to NPCs?
If this is the price for a more open world, I don't know if I'd like to pay that.
