HNM might feel differently about her but Anora cares only about the throne.

What's the deal with that anyway? One minute it's King Consort, then it's Prince consort... hmmmm.

I think its purely a purely a popular / political thing. She knows people like the sound of a "King" better then a Prince. So she calls you her King anytime she things it might get extra applause or up her general popularity ratting by a percentage point or two.
But you are technically a Prinice Consort. And more importantly if you got grabby hands when it comes to getting power and high and mighty, then it's good to sober you up to the reality as a "nipping the problem in the bud" strategy.

I wis there was a better Queen Anora romance option. You get an option to marry her but the game always treats it as an attempt to gain the throne even if you do not select those dialog options. The epilogue even states that you two vie for the throne. Why isn't there an option to marry her because your character is simply attracted to this strong beutiful woman and has no ambitions toward the throne?

Would agree with a lot of what the other posters have said. But I too would have liked more leeway, and would have liked that they had given you a more as far as role playing something more romantic and personally motivated.
I would add a few others.
1) I think the writting are setting up some kind of purposeful contrast between this relationship and the the official romances with your companions and perhaps even may not allow it so that those companion romances stand out more.
2) Simplicity of writing the story, game testing etc.
3) the "Low fantasy" schtick that bioware was trying out, I think necesitated a different kind of woman then a fairey tale typical princess that is rescued by Prince Charming and falls in love and lives happily ever after.
Thankfull there is fan fiction to handle these kinds of "What if" scenarios.

Dude, she's not that into you. LOL She wants the throne and you're the way to get to it. Maybe something could develop in time, but in-game you're just her path to keeping power.

She's not that into you until the coronation. At which time, she has the same exact girlish giggley thing as when she talks about her father being "a hero among the people".
But up until that time, yes you are mostly a ticket to the throne. She however does appreciate your pedigree and achomplishments up until that point.

You're not really becoming King, but King-Consort. This is only possible when you are Human Male Noble. Before the Landsmeet you can talk to Anora just like with every other character and just like other Origins can propose that she'd need a strong man at her side when she's Queen. Usually she dismisses it as tempting but impossible...when you're Noble, a Cousland, she accepts however. At the Landsmeet when you have to decide who gets the Crown, you can say something along the lines of "Anora, with me ruling beside her". Well, there you go :-)Esbatty wrote...
Whoa whoa... we can marry Anora and become "kingish"? I've never attempted this. How does one... go about being King?

Probably because you have to gain approval with every other character to start a relationship with them. Storyline-wise, that's really the first time you meet Anora. I guess if Bioware had wanted to make the game longer it would have been an option, but logically speaking coming into Landsmeet then just saying "Hey we're getting married!" without any real relationship sounds like... you're trying to attain the throne.
Saving her life wasn't enough reason for her to fall in love with you?!?! Sheesh... that used to be all a strapping hero had to do. I guess they want to talk about feelings and stuff now.

Not sure why people are enamored of the idea of marrying a woman who would see your head chopped off rather than take a risk you could unseat her, and who would turn on her own father if it suited her to do that, plus who hates sharing power so much. Better have the wait staff sample your tea before you drink it. I suppose it would add a certain spice to married life. LOL
