Hi there folks, I just started playing DA:I and I'm pretty confused...

 

There are 3 perks giving me the idea there is a way to reverse engineer/desintegrate items in this game. But how do I do this? 

 

Is it simply the destroy-item-button? And if so, is it even worth it? Does it provide crafting materials or only schematics?

Which item(level)s are supposed to be reverse engineered? Do I need the appropriate perk to have any effect at all?
