But if the Mustang had the same dashboard and interior, alone with borrowed engine parts you really have a means to compare the two even though they serve different purposes. Besides, we are talking more about a performance car and a sedan than we are a truck. The point is that while Dragon Age is a different franchise than Mass Effect, both have the same developer and use similar concepts. Certain design decisions were obviously borrowed from ME3's multiplayer, while others may be different there is still a reason to compare them when so much of the game is reused. Besides, Bioware learned a lot from ME3's MP and without it DAMP would not exist. Just because DAMP does things differently does not mean they are doing them better.

Well ME3 mp was amazing from the beginning. The demo got me hooked. I started playing MP immediately 12:00 am eve of retail release. It is one of the best games ever made and I still play it to this day
That said, I did stop playing ME3 mp shortly after release and for a whole year because of poor design and balance at the time. And DA mp does finally get enjoyable if you somehow manage to unlock a fun class before you give up - it is designed for a very long and tedious grind beforehand

In terms of server stability I would say DAMP is exactly like ME3MP... ![]()

But one's a shooter and the other is a more "classic" RPG. I don't see why anyone expects them to work the same in combat(particularly "Hey, I didn't need a tank in ME3" talk).

I'm having a good time with DAMP (started today and up to level 11).
Happily occupied:

DAMP isn't MEMP? A Mustang is not a truck? Or is DAMP not a car?
Yea, I think it's the latter - DAMP is not a car. MEMP isn't either. The more you know...

They were both made by bioware. Both have free DLC and random packs than be paid for in cash or earned money.

Maybe the tank and spank concept is outdated and that is what people are complaining about.

DAMP feels like a glorified version "GAUNTLET"... ME3MP was a full on tactical coop.
Yup DAMP is not ME3MP. ![]()

It's more like comparing a broken Ford to a working Ford. You are right. It isn't fair. Even if we remove all the glitchy bugginess, ME3MP is a much better game.
One has been out for 2 and a half years, one was launched last week. You are such a crybaby its unreal. Don't you have anything better to do at the weekends other than trawl the multiplayer forums telling people how much you dislike the game?
I don't get why people compare this game to me3mp just because they have the same publisher. We don't compare Diablo to WoW or Starcraft, so why do we compare DA and ME? One has swords and daggers, one has particle rifles and plasma shotguns. They are two completely different games with the only thing in common being their developer and the fact that its a multiplayer game.

That's what people aren't getting shooters are very different from rpg combat. I don't really like the combat in this game I got it for the story and the exploring aspect. If you prefer shooters this games multiplayer will not be something you are going to enjoy.

i think the real issue is that both being from the same publisher we expected both to be good

I mean, people still play and pay for things like TOR, WoW, FFIV, LoL, Smite, etc where Tank and Spank is a very effective and understood concept. I'm not sure how necessary it is from one game to another but the concept of tanks and healers isn't an old or even really fading concept.

It's not effective unless you never do instances. It's what you use on trash and in between the "interesting" bits of an encounter (ie. linedancing and dealing with RNG based attacks which bypass or mess with the aggro mechanic). When tank and spank is the boring **** we do on autopilot why do it at all any more?
