I actually thought you're going to say that the equation they work in the film is pretty much the mass effect.

Dude, he lands on an O'Neil cylinder. They didn't rip off mass effect. ME, and countless other Sci fi films borrowed the designs of these stations from NASA:

As was pointed out above though, the equation they work out is essentially the mass effect...but I've said it before and ill say it again: The laws of physics as we know them do predict that such a thing may be possible. At the very least, we know with certainty that electromagnetism and gravity were previously unified as a single force until shortly after the big bang. It might be possible to manipulate gravitational fields someday, as we do with electromagnetism today at whim.
So I doubt they even borrowed that idea. It's a pretty common scifi trope.

They both take inspiration from 70's and 80's "realistic" sci-fi, there 's bound ro be some similarities (the spacesuit for exemple). Nothing more to it, imo (those who didn't like Interstellar's end can feel free to màe jokes about it though :-) ).

Oh no, not by a long shot. Interstellar is so much sloppy and artificial than Mass Effect ever was.
(Yes, even the ending the internet has deemed must not be named.)

Great Sci-fi movie, and that equation
Spoiler
was pretty much the Mass Effect formula to me.... It made me really happy to see it.

Interstellar was a mostly good movie, but it should have ended at the logical conclusion - the main characters being ripped atom by atom and stranded alone on an alien world to repopulate humanity, respectively.
