Hello,

I take character customization very seriously, and was very happy when you released this image before the release of the game:

http://static-1.nexu...-1375816395.jpg

In this interview these renders were shown and one of the developers even said he doesn't want to underdeliver - but you certainly did in this aspect.

How could you release the game without these hairstyles? The ones in the game are hideous and I almost don't want to play the game because the ones in the game are so unappealing.

It would be sad to try to apply for a refund because of a matter like this, but it feels quite tempting.

Are you even considering adding these hairstyles into the game, or was it just a way to market your game? You really gave many people hopes that this would be the best looking Dragon Age and BioWare game so far. It certainly is in most aspects, but when the hairstyles are as bad as they are it's no fun looking at your own character. It's really hard to choose one, since none of them are really good. I have struggled the last day with creating a character that I like but so far no success. Faces are lovely, but damn that hair!

Enough ranting. Would be nice to hear a comment of you on the matter though. In all other aspects I really like the game, but please add what you promised!

It is very disappointing considering the quality of the rest of the game. The bad hairstyles just ruins the whole game for me, I know that sounds ridiculous but that's how it is. :P

Best regards

I do kind of agree with this.  I love the female dwarf style and was really hoping for my lady Cadash to rock it as well.  It's not the end of the world, but it does sting a little to go back and look at that image and then remember what actually ended up included.

I'm just assuming this was very early concept work.  It's probably before qunari were even added in, since they are missing.

I think my wife counted that there are some 12 "varieties" of bald/shaved hair in the game. If you had to rate all the hair styles in the game I think the not bald would mostly start with being ranked 13th or lower. They aren't good. Not an issue for my male characters who are always bald.

That's not misleading marketing, those pictures were from pre-alpha and things always get cut during the pre-alpha stage

No, that's not misleading marketing because your example isn't marketing material.  It's not in a promo, commercial, or website/print ad. It's not a press release; it's developmental shots.  Akin to a director showing shots of costumes or sets before or during production.

Everything is marketing. Since the marketers at no point afterwards corrected the preconception created by these images—by, for example, releasing shots of the actual hairstyles to be shipped; an understandable decision given the quality—a prospective buyer is left with an incorrect impression of the product.

Oh, come on. Don't tell me that they fudged up all hair options. I was already massively disappointed when I found out that Qunari basically have no hair style selections. Forcing me to shelve my plans for a female Qunari, because she would never look right. I'm still waiting for my game to get delivered, and I'm starting to get bummed out here.

The hair/beard is an epic fail. Any chance they overreached on face types/sliders and that led to hair problems?

I just don't know how the hair turned out as bad as it did and their internal, and any external testers didn't say "Man this looks like ****, people are going to hate it, are you sure you want to go this route?"

BioWare has decided that its time to dictate what is attractive because the entire planet has preconceived notions about what attractive looks like and since obviously no one playing a BioWare game knows that real attractive people actually look like, it was time to break the bad news to everyone.

Those images look like high-poly art they use to make textures. They don't look like in-game models. The hair seems to be of the same mesh. I don't know how they used those images in marketing, but my guess is they did not advertise those as final. They were just sharing the development process.

I agree that the hair options are pretty awful considering that they don't look much better than Mass Effect 1, but the game is good.

I kind of agree on this.  It's a little irritating that male and female humans basically share the exact same hairstyles, there is no variety between them, and qunari races get a total of about 3 max.

Really hoping that if we get a Black Emporium kind of DLC, that it will include added hairstyles.

remember, they will be releasing toolkit later, so more hairstyles will be coming from like minded users with the talent to mod.

I agree insofar as the hairstyle choices are mostly pretty awful. Everything else, though... wowzers.

Maybe a futue DLC will include a Black Emporium type of place to re-do your character and have some new styles available?

Considering you can customize Hawke when he/she shows up in game, I don't see a reason why you can't re-customize your own character at some later point, too.

Also, some of the eyebrows are just plain rediculous.

The devs said they will release a toolkit for Inquisition?  When was this, because I remember there being word that there wasn't going to be one.

Hairstyles were a truly major fail in this game, which sucks since it's pretty much the only complaint I have against it.

I really, really wanted to play as a Qunari. Unfortunately, the three hairstyles they gave us for that race (along with the multiple variations on bald) are just awful. Mods would solve this, but alas Frostbite 3 engine.

Those just look like zbrush sketches, no way those would be used in the game anyway, they have to make the hairs seperate from the character models and attach them afterwards.

Stop making excuses for Bioware, people. Their hairstyles are underwhelming both in the number of options and the general aesthetic. I'd rather have the hairstyles from DA:O and DA:2.
