Some of the most popular mods in nearly any game is .. hairstyle / eyes , eye they got covered pretty well.  But the hair .... even DAO & DA2 did better :)

As far i understood BW they choose not to use long hair to avoid clipping issues throu armor & cloth.

Good point, still i would rather play with abit clipping issue then this hehe.  IT should be a choise .. make a warning  "hey this long hair might freaking clip if you choose it,  continue ?"  and thats it .. i click accept and lose my right to ****** on forum about clipping issue :P

The devs said they will release a toolkit for Inquisition?  When was this, because I remember there being word that there wasn't going to be one.

They said they will but it won't be anytime soon after release... thats what I heard in an interview.

The dev console is already enabled in game - so it's only a matter of time before they release the tool kit.

of course... that was a earlier interview.

I wanted to make a Male Mage with a beard but when i seen how all the mustache parts of the beard are so far down i couldn't.

Had to remake my char 4 times to make him look decent enough to live with it. I thought they would have at least added the styles from the previous Dragon Age models since most of those look better then the present ones.

Oh, come on. Don't tell me that they fudged up all hair options. I was already massively disappointed when I found out that Qunari basically have no hair style selections. Forcing me to shelve my plans for a female Qunari, because she would never look right. I'm still waiting for my game to get delivered, and I'm starting to get bummed out here.

Dude other than i'd say 80% of the hairsyles are fugly its still a great game to play but yeah most of the females are really really really butch the only none butch female is Leliana
 its really sad infact

They don't want clipping issues I can't tell you the hundreds of clipping I see in DA:I its consistantly all the time like it just seems like they are too lazy to put the effort into to add ambient occlusion to all those little details or move them so they don't like example, *spoiler* Krem's blade on her hilt clips through her arm as she is talking you 95% of the time....

BioWare has decided that its time to dictate what is attractive because the entire planet has preconceived notions about what attractive looks like and since obviously no one playing a BioWare game knows that real attractive people actually look like, it was time to break the bad news to everyone.

Says the person with a ultra unrealistic avatar....

It's just strange since most next-gen games can handle hair very well, make it move and render the hairstrands and so on. Is frostbite not able to do this?

Super realistic for me. But I don't expect you to understand that. I understand that the prevailing wind says all real women are dumpy, have bad skin, and ratty hair, but that doesn't mean I have to like whats trendy now do I?

The hairstyles are bad. Both as style and quality. Not talking here about the Qunari that are a truly sad thing. Is incredible how great is the CC and then how much everything go down because of the hair option. 12-13 buzzcut/shaved hairstyles. Really, who need more than four?

Marketing on lies.

Made from the ground up for the PC.  Lie!

A game design taking us back to Bioware's roots.  Lie!

I'm not sure if you could class the lack of hairstyles a lie, more like a deception.

I wouldnt expect to see any longer hairstyles appearing.

Simply because they cause issues with helmets. Its the case for every game, just that some devs are good at working around the issue.

That being said, i would also love some new and longer hairstyles.

Actually, Mike said they were "..looking into it.." as a possibility. The Frostbite engine in NOT geared towards modding.

Those images look like high-poly art they use to make textures. They don't look like in-game models. The hair seems to be of the same mesh. I don't know how they used those images in marketing, but my guess is they did not advertise those as final. They were just sharing the development process.

I agree that the hair options are pretty awful considering that they don't look much better than Mass Effect 1, but the game is good.

Those weren't marketing shots for hair. They were used to reveal high level concepts for the multiple races then announced.

I think my wife counted that there are some 12 "varieties" of bald/shaved hair in the game. If you had to rate all the hair styles in the game I think the not bald would mostly start with being ranked 13th or lower. They aren't good. Not an issue for my male characters who are always bald.

its 13 varieties for bald women

Those aren't screenshots.

We had ample opportunity to see that the hair looked rubbish before release.

Every source and interview I've seen in the last year dismisses the idea so I'ma need a source on this.

Why would they pick an engine that is not good for modding? Do they know nothing of this community and its love of mods? All the Skyrim mods should have told them that we love modding our games.

No idea, even previous Dragon Age games received some heavily customized hairstyles and faces.

God, how I wish my male elf could have rocked that hairstyle. Or even looked that good and healthy. (compared to his body in the game)

I do feel rather annoyed at the severe lack of hairstyle choices (unless you love shaved hair).

How is it free to play mmos and other not so triple a title games can offer amazing character hairstyles and customization, yet this game can't manage it? I know, I know...have to rush the game and make money. Dedicate more to the story and its trillions of sidequests. Why would a gamer want to make a unique looking hero? Pft...silly ideas.

I can't believe hairstyles is such a game breaker for people. Is the content of the game itself good? Yup. Gameplays fun, yup. Oh hairstyles are ugly. This game sucks shelf it... Really people? Put on a damn helmet. More hairstyles would be nice, but the amount of anger towards it on this thread is just pathetic...

Agreed. I only bought this on the PC because I hoped for great modding in the future.

Well, some people like their hero's to look unique. Plus, have you seen the helmets in this game? I'll take the small selection of hair, thank you. <_<

Finally, as for avoiding clipping issues by not doing long hair................. *looks at her male elf's arms* Yeah...I'll take clipping hair strands over arms sinking into the body anyday.
