Check this out: A level 16 Knight-Enchanter killing a level 19 Dragon without even being hit.

Seriously? I can't believe something like this is in the game. if you don't want to be challenged, use your party and not die at all, play as/have a Mage Enchanter on your party that you're invincible.

Use the Spirit Blade and a Barrier.  The Blade gives your Barrier a percentage of damage dealt. You'll never die.

EDIT: People seem to be way too defensive about this. I apologize. Don't get me wrong, people should play the way they want, and if you're having fun with it, that's what matters.

But I was really excited about a Warrior-Mage alike specialization when reading about it a couple of days ago. But seeing it's way too powerful just spoil any chances of having fun as a Enchanter for me. It just feels like a huge waste of opportunity for those who want to use it and be challenged at the same time.

Its a single player game, there doesnt have to be major balance. Look at skyrim with Destruction spells not being able to get scaled compared to melee

My only problem is that the Knight Enchanter just looks like so much fun compared to the other two specs.  It's a good problem to have.

It's not that difficult man.  I took down The Hivernal not long ago and my party was in the 16-17 range as well.  I play as a warrior reaver, had Blackwall as my tank, Dorian as my mage using necromancy/fire and cole doing bow attacks.  For the record he also does get hit.  As long as you're well equipped and have a weapon/attack that does the damage type that the creature you're fighting is weak against, prepare to see some stupidly high critical attacks.  Especially if you're playing a build like Reaver or Knight Enchanter.  They're built around spike damage and staying in the fight.

Just because it's a single player doesn't mean it should be unbalanced. Why use another Mage Spec if you can be invincible. When I started to see something related to a Warrior Mage a couple of days ago I was really interested in it. But now I won't be even close to this noob-friendly specialization. Such a shame.

Holy amazeballs! So Knight-Enchanter is kind of like the new Arcane Warrior? That looks epic, and if anything, only makes me excited for my mage playthrough.

To comment on the point of the OP: It's a game, and I want to have fun. How I go about that is up to me. Is the Knight-Enchanter powerful? Sure. But is he FUN? I don't know yet. If having a challenge and being tested is your way of having fun, go Nightmare or something.

Just because this guy was able to take on a Dragon a couple levels higher than doesn't mean the game is broken. It just means he specc'd his KE well.

What other people do in single player games effects me... in no way whatsoever.

So good for that guy.

I'm having plenty of fun playing this game how I want to play it.

I can agree to this to a point, if one spec makes the game SOOO much easier than any other build, id get that. But single player games dont usually get balancing fixes.

Because if you play an RPG to win you're playing it wrong. My characters don't follow the strongest path, except when I need to complete an achievement (such as doing some thing on nightmare, in DAI case, the whole game), in DA:A my Arcane Warrior was a monk and had no shield, no armor and no weapons (but had robes and accessories), it is roleplay, so the character concept far outweights his effectivity.

I like to use my party, using combos and - at least for me - beating the most powerful creature of the game alone isn't fun. It's way to powerful and just spoil any chances of having fun as a Enchanter for me. That spec has some great skills.

Honestly, you could see this specialization being God-tier from miles away:

  • Regen barrier based on damage?
  • Cooldown bonus to all spells based on basic attacks?
  • Bonus to mana regen when in combat?
  • Thorns?
  • Invulnerability?
  • Light sabers that deal extra damage against everything and can block ranged attacks?

I don't mind stuff being OP when it requires planning and skill to execute, but this is just ridiculous.

Still think I'm going to use it. It's a single player game and I can always play again as a different mage/class  :)

Some of you seem lost so here is where you can voice concerns about MP characters being overpowered, underpowered or simply powered.

Multiplay balance section this way :http://forum.bioware...ombat-strategy/

This is about the single player game where people can play the game as they like.

I want to play as a Kinight-Enchanter in the single player, but it's unbalanced, can't I discuss about it on the single player forums? Give me a break.

Actually this just makes me want to do Knight Enchanter. Now I am debating about starting over...  I am the curious as a cat type and now I want to see what a full powered Knight Enchanter is capable of now.

Only watched the first 3 minutes.

Maybe he may have been playing on the lowest difficulty level...

Also you said he never got hit, you may need to have your eyes tested.

Why's it stop you from playing it though?  Just don't make it unbalanced if you don't want it unbalanced.  You don't have to min/max as that spec, and you dont have to do anything they did just because you're playing a KE

Also I just don't see KE being super unbalanced without work, especially after my Vivienne got destroyed over and over and over and over and over by a bruiser in the crestwood fort while I kept having to revive her as a rogue.

I knew ages ago when the skill tree was revealed, this would be broken as all hell. I do agree to some point, in a single player game balance isn't -as- important.

Am I going to use this spec on my Nightmare run? You bet your ass. Will I feel like a bad horrible person as I do it? Yes, yes I will.

I'm personally having a God-damned blast as a Necromancer at the moment. I love the IDEA of a Knight-Enchanter. Think about the backstory for the class (I won't go into it as it pertains to spoilers, but yeah) I've always wanted that kind of ideal in a DA game.

(Not gameplay wise, I understand the similarities to the Arcane Warrior - I mean lore wise)

But the execution was done in a bit of a overcharged sense. No doubt.

I was under the assumption that it was a discussion about a single player thing? Am I wrong? If I am wrong about that am I wrong about the Earth not being flat, and it revolving around the Sun? All sarcasm aside this is a discussion about something single player. Please continue anrock you were saying?  And those who have a differing view point were saying?

I just started as a Necromancer too, it looks fun. You actually have to use your brain and your party to play. It requires skill. I was really excited about a "Warrior-Mage" specialization, it's an awesome idea, but poorly performed.

I don't want to play as a Rambo, killing everything that's on my way without even being hit.

Indeed. Not to de-rail from the subject of the KE as a class - but damn isn't Virulent Walking Bomb just the ******? Yes? Yes it is.

Oh, there's 8 mobs attacking me. That's -adorable-. That one just exploded next to you 7, that means you 7 are totally and utterly -screwed-. And yes, yes I DID just posses the Giant you were trying to kill.

Come at me.
