4) Has anyone figured out how much damage is added by Chaotic Focus?  Guardian Spirit is great but I'm not sold on having to slot Barrier just to combo my next fire damage spell.  I wish we had in-game numbers for this damage bonus.

About 50% of the amount of barrier taken. When I immolate with a full barrier bar (about 3k), it takes half of it (1,5k) and immolate deals roughly 800 more damage. You get most mileage from it via Immolate, since it will apply to every target in range. It obviously doesn't work with firewall and I skipped meteor in favor of stonefist+barrier so I don't know about that. But you can throw around 1000-1500 damage Immolates which is pretty rad.

Why lie?  Flashpoint has a 10s cooldown so by chaining do you mean casting it twice, then waiting 60s for the second cooldown?  Or perhaps you only cast Firestorm when Flashpoint is active, meaning you cast it once, then wait for the 10s cooldown on Flashpoint, then another 5-10s for a critical hit, then cast it a second time, then repeat the process?  5 times in a row; yeah, I'm sure you totally did that.  Feel free to post a video or explain how it worked though.

Weird, the explanation that was provided by another poster was that you get a 50% damage bonus regardless of how big your barrier is.  The only thing that matters is that you have at least 50% to consume.  If you have only 30% remaining then you would only get a 30% damage bonus.

 

Also, why wouldn't it work with Wall of Fire?  It's a fire spell and it deals damage so it should just increase the damage per second by 50%.

There was no such lie, by chaining i meant only casting with flashpoint up. Dont have the game in front of me, but firestorm lasts about 12 sec right at the end of firestorm cast arcane barrage, then auto attack while barrage is hitting, the 12 hits and auto attack shots = high chance on a quick crit, then another 2 sec to place then next firestorm. At my luckiest i only had about 5 seconds down time without firestorm active. I play on xbox one and do not know how to pull recorded footage from dvr to youtube etc, i will post one when i figure it out. I never use firestorm without the proc active

Promoted the Elementalist twice so far, he's amazingly fun to play. I don't use Firestorm that much, though. I prefer to run with Immolate, Fade Cloak, Fire Wall/Fire Mine and Stonefist.

It takes some getting used to, but it's not hard once you get the hang of it.

Ah, I see what you mean now.  I was thinking of casting them on top of one another, whereas you meant casting it only after the previous one had expired.  Sorry for the confusion on my end.

I bet if u have 4 lvl 20 elementalists with flashpoint/firestorm, immolate, barrier and death syphon passive could clear perilous in a heartbeat lol

I think the elementalist needs to get toned down quite a lot. The self heal, the barrier, the fire wall, the skill that eliminates the cooldown of skills, firestorm all in one package makes him too much of a beast. Fun to play yes. Balanced? No way.

Is the meteor spell any good? Mine has winter's grasp, stonefist, immolate and fade step. It's great for cc, but I get the feeling that I'm not unlocking his full damage potential.

 

It´s great, it´s just very loud and screen shaking.

Bit tricky, but very worthy. You can put it into doorways or passages enemies usually pour through. You can place it at the entrance of secret room,  so you have your back covered while you are dealing with chest. Alternatively, what also works great is placing it on ground and standing on it. Especially when you know shadow or assassin is lurking around or when you are targeted by Demon Commander. Or you can try and lure enemies to trip it when they miss it first time.

The best thing about Rion is his diversity:
Shatter Combos
Pure Crowd Control
Barrier Bot
Chaotic DPS

There's no other character that can cover so many bases. I generally play CC with Barrier but all my friends play him totally different.

I screwed up my build. Took Barrage over meteor spell.

 

You should take both. Use barrage to trigger the flashpoint ability, negating the cooldown of your next spell, and then cast firestorm(now without cooldown), and keep this going. Great form of CC.

Omce you get high enough cunning (30+) you dont need barrage, you can trigger flashpoint with auto attacks

My cunning is 50. Also, i don't auto attack with my elementalist. Barrage, firestorm, wall of fire, barrier and then barrage again.
