I'm a straight guy, I just want a couple options that make sense.  Josephine doesn't.  Non-party members just don't.  I seriously don't get this.

This will be the first Bioware game where I don't even pursue romance.  Maybe add some lonely jerk-off night cutscenes?

I could rant about how weird all of this is.  The choices, the orientations, like someone is deliberately trying way too hard.  I remember the criticisms of DA2, and honestly I defended it, because there was at least Merril, who had a quirky personality.  Just can't stick up for this.  It's a disservice to the gamers that have written your checks for over a decade.

I also don't understand the blowback every topic like this gets.  All of this is so bizarre.  Like everyone lost their minds.  It's a simple issue, it's a real issue.  Romance is a staple of the studio.  Remove it if you don't want to give proper options.  I'll just get a housecarl.

Romance Cassandra. There, problem solved!

(And what's wrong with Josephine? She's adorable, and you get to interact with her just as much as your party members.)

In any case, you have the same number of options as everyone who isn't playing a female human or elf, so I'm not sure where the issue is.

I also don't understand the blowback every topic like this gets.

The 'blowback' is likely because instead of posting your thoughts in one of the already existing half-dozen threads on the topic, people continue to feel the need to flood the forum with individual threads like their thoughts are special little snowflakes that can't share space with the thoughts of others.  Instead of highlighting the importance of the topic for people, it's causing it to become a thing to be mocked.

So, I ask, why couldn't your message be posted in one of the existing threads on the subject?

I don't think the writers will be writing and a whole bunch more dialogue and paying the voice actors another large sum of money for content to be included in a patch. Pretty sure the big names, as much as they enjoy the work they do, don't do it voluntarily. Recording studios and post production probably isn't cheap either I'd guess.

When they start work on story DLC, perhaps they might include something more then, but I don't see the point, someone would still be cranky.

You have at least two choices in DA:I, the same amount of choices there were in either in DA2 or DA:O.

I'm not sure I get what the issue is with DA:I's romances. What exactly is missing compared to the previous two games?

I actually do think there will be a female DLC companion, and she might very well be a romance options for straight men. (Gender balance is currently 6-3, so it definitely will not be a man.)

But yea I guess straight guys know how it has felt for gay guys in pretty much every pre-ME3 title?

That's how it is with romances. Sometimes a character gets your interest, sometimes they all don't. My main Mass Effect character didn't romance anyone because I found the romanceable characters less interesting than the "only friends" ones. If you check on the internet, you'll find that plenty of people loved those characters. So. That's just me, no biggy.

The distribution of romance choices is very curious to me.  We have the following NPCs:

1 heterosexual female

3 heterosexual males

1 homosexual female

1 homosexual male

1 bisexual female

1 bisexual male

It seems like they went overboard trying to be edgy and avoid being criticized.  The average player is a hetero male (statistically speaking) and they are, it seems to me, going to want females to romance.  This game has more males than females to romance, so that's a strange design choice.  It also has an equal number of homosexual+bisexual to heterosexual romance options, I also find that a strange design choice.

There are twice as many straight LI's (four) than gay LI's (two) and bisexual LI's (two).  You can combine gay and bisexual together, but that doesn't really make sense for this argument.  It would be like me combining straight and bisexual LI's together and then complaining that there are three times as many straight+bisexual LI's than gay LI's.  To what end?

I was annoyed that straight males only get two options whereas straight females get four.  They really, really should have made Vivienne an option.  She was the one I was most interested in romancing, Cassandra being a very close second.  When I found out I would not get to, I was really disappointed.

Are you kidding me?

Cassandra and Josie are.... they're just great!

I'd romance them both with the same character at the same time if I could.

Have a little harem going on.

Cassandra's adorable, Josie's gorgeous, that accent.... and she's cute too. I...

Bro, what's wrong with you bro?

I'm a straight guy,

lol, these threads always start off with this declaration. My god, everyone clear the room. MAKE WAY.

It's....

IT'S.....

IT IS A STRAIGHT GUY.

::shoves people aside:::

This is really important. Everyone listen very closely, because this is a straight guy talking.

Everyone shh! Shut up! Listen!

He's...

He is writing a check!

A HETEROSEXUAL CHECK

 I'll just get a housecarl.

Carl?

But I thought you were a straight guy?

I get it!

But, you probably didn't mean that. And who cares what the comparative numbers of romances between orientations are? You get two, minimum. That's pretty much what we've always had. If you want more, you can do what pretty much every gay gamer ever had to do up until about 3 years ago and role play a different orientation.

Except that straight guys are still getting TWO romance options here, the same amount as every other LI game before it.  There have only been three Bioware games ever where gay guys get two options:  DA 2, ME 3, an DA: I.  So, for straight guys to feel what it's like, they would have to have about 7 or 8 games come out where they get either one or zero options.

Also, they've already confirmed no DLC companions and no DLC romances.

Just romance IB for the lulz. You will never make a valid point on the BSN that Cassandra is unattractive on this forum.

There is no objective argument on this matter. Its entirely subjective, and no one is ever going to agree..so if you don't find the LI's compelling, the best thing to do is make the best you can out of what you're given, or at least get some hilarious game moments out of it.
