What's wrong with Cassandra? I never pursue the "romances" in these games, but she seems like a fine character to me. She has all the right parts, and isn't excessively whiny or crazy. I think you are just too picky.
Bioware, please patch romance options, they suck right now.

Well there is that giant scar down her entire FACE... but other than that, sure. I'd do her... in a video game kinda way?

Like others said, there's Cassandra. Or deal with it, the writers have a story and characters that were carefully crafted with expert love and care, it's not going to change.

Personally I'd be fine if they ditched "romance" altogether, so complaining about only having two options is a little weird to me.

That you as a demon sympathiser don't like her doesn't stop her being a fine character.

She should disagree with all that, she's a seeker whose family were killed by mages.

So Varric and the rebel mages are demons ? Good to know.

Josephine and Cassandra are about as good of romance options as you could ask for in this game. Who else do you want to romance? I think both of those choices are great. But then again, maybe you are one of those strange people who like to wear socks with sandals and despise awesome women. XD

But who made all the desire demons male...? This is something I don't approve of.
Probably the same person that thinks romancing Cassandra is okay.
I think if I was playing as a male, getting frisky with a barely original Jean d'Arc/Maid of Orleans type character wouldn't be very high on my list of things to do. It also just seems out of place, like questioning Leliana on whether she was intimate with The Divine....its insulting and typical, and with Leliana, the non-romancable character, BioWare calls this out by laying a question trap for people who think like that.
But on the same hand BioWare expects you to attempt to pry Cassandra out of her armor, without respect for her faith, her drive, and the fact that her entire life is defined by her beliefs....they actively entreat males, as does everyone in this thread that constantly call people out for not wanting to romance Cassandra, to devalue her and treat her like a prize, when her base character is literally the the living form of a woman who will eventually be remembered as a warrior saint.
Why would I want to romance Cassandra as a male? It would feel wrong to me as a male character. It would feel wrong to me on any character. Cassandra has a higher calling than love....why disrespect that like...ever?

The truth is that no matter how many options the devs create there is always going to be the chance that you won't like any of them, because that sort of thing is subjective. There has never been a Bioware game ever created where someone didn't post that they were disappointed in the LI choices or complaining that character X or character Y wasn't one of those options.

I agree. But that's not exclusive to Bioware games, it's games in general.

I get your point, but I disagree. Just because something has a potential negative consequence doesn't mean it should be removed entirely to avoid that possibility.
Romance is a part of the human experience, and any relationship formed with another person has a chance at becoming romance. Bioware is a company that thrives on writing characters; how would intentionally not including one of the most intimate and inspiring parts of relational development be a good idea? Besides, pursuing a love interest is such a small part of this game. The topic is getting blown out of proportion.

Would I have liked it if Viv was a romance option? Of course.
Am I still bitching about it now, long after the romances were announced, because I can't get over myself? I am not.

That's true of any feature though, and isn't just limited to how the characters interact.
If I were to start a thread about whether the next DA game should be open world like DA:I or smaller and more structured like DA:O, it would probably end with two different groups of fans bickering about which is better. No matter what the feature is there is always going to be some people who don't like it.

Yeah, but this topic is charged with real-world emotions. BioWare is treading into gender politics territory. All of these threads are always one "check your cis privilege" away from your average Reddit thread.
Some people will take "I think there should be more straight white male romance options" waaaaaaaaaaay differently from "I think there should be more/less open world activities" regardless of the statement's intention/motivation.
Speaking of gender politics...

Fine character : Someone who has more sword than sense, over-the-top in the religious faith department, expect people to fall in line with her or they will be attacked (Varric), has a poor taste in literature (Swords & Shields is Thedas' 50 Shades of Grey) and takes things way too seriously.
Really ? She disagrees if you say you do not believe in the Maker. She disagrees if you take a non-direct course of action. She disagrees if you ally with the mages. She tried to punch Varric for protecting his friend. The list goes on and on.
But...she greatly agrees if you give her the latest edition of a trashy smutty literature...
Fine character you say ? I think not.
*Disgusted noise*
Only when you put it like that.
She put faith in Varric and his tale, faith that could have had HUGE implications on the fate of the entire world. Her one goal was to find the Champion, and she put faith in this dwarf to give her all the information she needed to save the world. Then, it turns out that her faith was misplaced, and he knew where she was the entire time, and likely just stalled Cassandra's efforts with his storytelling to help Hawke evade her. Wouldn't you want to punch him?
But she shows growth. The bit with her hidden enjoyment of literature, in addition to her trying to write down the events that have transpired for future generations, show a willingness and eagerness to learn, even though her life has led her along courses of action as opposed to reason. Hidden behind her rough, war-torn exterior is a little girl that never got to grow up. You can see this in the way she talks about her family and few childhood memories, as she opens up.
She's bull-headed at times. She's rash. She's imperfect. She's human. Just because you don't personally like her doesn't make her a poorly written character.

And I would counter by saying that romance does not guarantee sexual relations.
(And I'll keep my opinion of asexual-identifying persons to myself.)

Asexuality covers both romantic as well as aromantic asexuality.
Your parenthetical is confusing. Why even bring up that you have some hidden (I assume negative?) opinion if you truly wanted to keep it to yourself?

I cant bear to look at her anymore.
