how am i being tough and mean? because i said life isnt fair? what your parents never told you that? and really, life isnt fair for haiti either clearly. neither was it in the phillipines or katrina, but are you really gonna compare some people getting free dlc for free to those situations?

All I'm saying is that you don't need to gloat about it. Did your parents never tell you that being polite is a GOOD thing?
Only reason I bring up the earthquake victims is just because I think that the "life isn't fair" argument doesn't hold water in ANY situation, especially when it's coming from people who benefit from it.

it holds plenty merit for both this AND the haiti situation. theres no REASON they got hit with an earth quake. sh*t happens. i wasnt gloating before, but i was pretty happy about it. i had a ****ty week earlier and life wasnt fair for me, i got a bit of good karma so suddenly im a gloating ****

Honestly man when you have say a crappy week which I'd settle for any day lol, and you tell someone yeah I got up the morning and the hot water heater wasnt working had to take a cold shower my car had a flat tire and etc, would you appreciate someone saying well you should have bought runflats or shoulda went with michelin or start talking about how much better they got it than you? Empathy is nice from time to time you know. Yeah life is life, I dont think living in general sucks, situations may suck but thats life, not everything in your eyes match up to another persons eyes figuratively speaking. So when someone says this is my situation that's probably in a sense their situation, you shouldnt take that opportunity to say no that isnt true your dumb or my observation is this and there is no exception to my world and how I perceive it, just saying.

Probably the former.

so if it doesnt effect you why are you whining? what world do you live in where complaining and arguing about something that "Doesnt effect you" isnt obnoxious?

I've already told you, I feel sympathy (something you seem to lack) for the people who got screwed over. Is it really that hard to put yourself in their position? Or are you just completely egocentric?

i really dont feel any sympathy. its a set of armor that will be obsolete in a few hours. i got the gamestop armor and gun anyway, and i really wouldnt care if other people got it for free, id still have the armor and gun i wanted the most. now i just have more options

No. The armor won't be obsolete in a matter of hours. Reviews claim there is very, very few pieces of equipment in the game that you could get away with only 2-3 pieces of armor and such in the end. It's all about upgrades now. The Terminus armor could very well last until you beat the game.

even if it does, the n7 armor does just fine in comparison. but ive heard from the devs that the armors will be obsolete. and there arent very FEW sets of armor, bioware has said theres plenty

well lets just hope this all gets sorted out. I hope people who dont deserve content, dont get it. Unless they are charged or have to wait.

Some people paid extra for advertised "exclusive content" and if it is no longer exclusive, that simply isnt fair.

Wouldn't work in court, Bioware and EA never wanted the DLC to be released. It's why it was pulled.

You could have a case with Microsoft, but you'd need very - very - very good lawyers.

2) We're not all on the PC.

Its just a game, wow some people got the terminus armor or the inferno armor for free, it was free to begin with. All you had to do was pre-order.

Its not like the pre-order bonuses were top secret or anything, people had the chance to pre-order and get the stuff. If some people get it for free because they were smart and checked, so be it. They were intelligent, everyone else is whining over nothing.

Geez, next you're gonna tell me that the poor people of Haiti should just suck it up and move on, since "LOL, LIFE ISN'T FAIR!"

Yes..the disaster of you missing out on DLC is akin to the disaster in Haiti...

I knew I'd get called out on this. >_>

I was merely pointing out the silliness of the "life isn't fair, get over it" argument. I'm not saying that missing out on DLC is in any way comparable to what's happening to the people of Haiti. I guess I was being optimistic when I thought you guys could figure that out on your own.

Can I ask you why? Do you gain some kind of twisted sense of joy out of gloating? Are you a sociopath by any chance? >_>

And saying "**** happens" doesn't help anyone. You know why nobody gives a **** about you? Because you don't give a **** about anyone else. It's the simple principle of reciprocity. The golden rule. Now, I'm sorry you had a ****ty week, I did too, but there's no need to continue the cycle by letting your misery onto someone else. See, the change has to start somewhere, and it might as well be you. If we all live by this basic principle, the world will be a better place in no time. But you don't give a **** about the world, do you? You bitter, bitter man. :innocent:

Well, this whole ordeal will surely make me think twice (or thrice) about paying extra for the Bioware's Collectors Editions in the future. Whether there is still "a nice tin case and even a map" or not is utterly irrelevant. Collector's edition DLC content was advertised as exclusive, and, through Bioware's or Bioware partners' fault, had its exclusive status stripped. This is a material change to the deal, and a loss of value (perceived or otherwise).

Glad someone pointed this out. :) This is the actual effect of this. All the people who feel ripped off after having bought the CE will undoubtedly think twice before doing anything like that again. The result is less sales and less deals like this, and all-round misery across the board. :<

Actually, it depends where your form, and what laws are in place against false advertising.

In the UK, there is a law against this type of thing, and you could bring a case against them through Trading Standards.

Whether or not you would win is a different matter.

We all know money talks, and Bioware/EA have plenty.

Sure, if you want it to be more complex, but the principle is still the same.
If you want to get technical though, I'd say that they get the same large fry. They also get a pepsi a bit later down the road, since someone uploaded it to youtube. They also bought a hamburger with their money, so they now have exactly the same as the guy who bought the whole deal, for less money. Is that fair? No, it isn't.
Do you really disagree with me here?

Though it certainly isn't fair, I am certain that everyday at least a few people receive free fries/drinks/etc due to the number of orders I have gotten extra or not had everything I paid for.  However, unlike in the food example, there is not a person who was likely shorted on the other end.  Also, it is truly more akin to the employees giving you the extra, as MS made the error themselves.

I was awake, but would have never thought to check the XBL website.

All this stuff about the free codes, pirated/hacked advanced playing thieves, real/false game plot spoilers, etc... are all just examples of a broken world trying to mess with my BLISS.

I'm gonna enjoy ME2 despite all this nonsense.

I feel sad for those members who feel they need to damage the ME2 experience of other players. Vaya con Dios

Free to begin with?

I distinctly remember having to put a $5 deposit down at my local Best Buy to get the box that housed the code.

Unless that was just Monopoly money or something, and the cashier was an idiot.

Was any of the DLC put up unaccounted for origin wise? I was wondering if any of it could be the unlockable from Mass Effect Galaxy.

If you want to bring it up..

Collector's Armor. (from Collector's Edition)

DDE Sniper. (from the DDE)

Dragon Age Armor. (from Dragon Age)

Dr.Pepper gear. (from Dr.Pepper)

Preorders require you lay down money in advance.

It was only available for a few hours basically. The Collectors Edition stuff is still pretty exclusive. Not that many people got to download or even knew about the content being live so it really isn't a big deal.

Yes, the content is till free because that $5 just goes toward the purchase of your game. It's not like you pay an extra $5 dollars to reserve a game... you people do know that don't you?

I dont think it's piracy, but free, not really, I think 3 items were the Dr Pepper codes DLC, but with the Dr P codes you may get something for Spore, or Sims, Battlefield, i think, so it's like playing scratch tickets you pay money and may get what you seek or may bust, so not really free. CE bonuses, not exactly free, unless you pay the same for 59.99 same as SE, Blood Dragon armor, obviously not free you would have had to pre-order DA:O

regardless it's screwed up.

You may have put $5 down, but you will get $5 off when you pay for the rest of it. Pre-orders are free, and thus the bonuses are too.

Sounds like a personal problem.

I know I'm gonna be enjoying my Steam DDE preorder complete with gamestop armor.

Besides, you're not charged for the items anyways, so you're not doing anything illegal.
