Paid for CE, whilst people get the items for free. Awesome...

Exactly. I feel quite disappointed and even though I hate to say it - cheated.

At least the CE will provide us with other entertaining goodies, I for one got the CE because I wanted the steelcase, not because I wanted the items. (I have a thing with collecting those)

As for the items in question, I would honestly not be surprised if they are going to be (one of the first few) payed DLC items. It's been done before "order at store x for promo y" only to have promo y be made available to the public trough DLC at a later date. Just look at Stone Cold Steve Austin for WWE SmackDown! VS Raw 2010.

Another fun "scam" is when you get promised an extra item for buying a game at a specific store only to find out that your "Unique Code" is exactly the same as everyone else's and that everyone that didn't buy the game at that specific store can use the code too. Like they did with the Harvester in Darksiders.

What am I trying to say here? Promotional items are just a scam to get you to buy your product at a specific store and I can't wait for the day where devs/pubs finally realize that this system is seriously flawed and needs to be put away... permanently. Equal DLC/Items for everyone!

P.S.Allot of these promotions tend to forget about non-US residents, which is only about 50% (if not more) of a game's potential buyers. Stop shafting non-US residents with promotions that are US only,  I AM TALKING TO YOU DR. PEPPER. I drink you every day, I defend you against people that hate you and how do you reward me? YOU DON'T GIVE ME YOUR PROMOTIONAL DLC!

I had to look what charlatans meant, but apparently it means:

The Charlatans (known in the United States as The Charlatans UK) are a British alternative rock band.

Your Google "skills" suck. Try again.

Charlatans is plural for charlatan (singular), you f*********.

The fact that your getting pissed because of his witty comment to your idiotic comment is making this all the more hilarious.
Please continue.

Who said I was "pissed"? Because I'm cursing? LOL. The fact you would consider his comment "witty" only shows how easily entertained and presumptuous you really are, which is also hilarious.

Odd, because I don't get my preorder items or Dragon Age armor if I'm not signed on to the EA servers when I play DA:O.

That's a known glitch in DA:O which can be caused by several things, and fixed in each case.

This should help, it's the more common of the potential causes.

All the pre-order codes will do (for xbox360) is give you access to the free download. Its not going to verify anything after its downloaded. When you type the code you get the free download its as simple as that. What happened last night was that Microsoft forgot to restrict the downloads for the pre-order codes only.

It really depends on the code and the instructions that it will give you to download it. If its through marketplace, which it looks like it will be given that it showed up on there last night. It will simply work through the redeem code function on your xbox. We have to wait and see.

Codes redeemed in Dragon Age and presumably ME2 need to be done in-game or on the social site. They're different from the XBL marketplace codes, and there's a verification process built into the game for them. Items downloaded from the XBL marketplace directly, on the other hand, use only Microsoft's verification, which amounts to "Was this content downloaded on this machine and hard drive?". The items released for free last night were downloaded through XBL marketplace, and as such function properly in-game.
You can see this for yourself if you go to "Profile --> Registered Game Promotions" in the sidebar of this site. Redeemed codes will show up there because they're connected to your EA account, whereas XBL direct downloads will not, because they aren't.

you guys do realize the point of getting the preorder stuff was mostly to get you to buy from gamestop as they try to monopolize themself. this doesnt hurt bioware in anyway

Collector's Armor.

Dragon Age Armor.

That one Sniper Rifle.

That doesn't hurt Bioware in any way?

no because the collector editions are almost already sold out anyway. and if theres supply of them there will still be demand...the dragon age armor, everyone who wanted it in mass effect 2 has pretty much already bought the game. the sniper rifle, no one even really knows what that was for?

Collector's Edition is limited, if they are sold out then that doesn't mean other people should be able to get it for free. If they wanted the Collector's Armor, they should have purchased the Collector's Edition.

A lot of my friends hated Dragon Age (upon trying it at my place) and want Mass Effect 2, excluding hyperbole - not everybody has Dragon Armor ready and able from Dragon Age.

Good point on the sniper, although it could be Dr.Pepper and the Dr.Pepper ads cost EA / Bioware a lot of money.

The items were from promotional ads, from the Dr.Pepper codes and preorder. Nothing seen would've likely come out with the Cerberus Network.

If they were released on the Cerberus Network for free, then it's false advertising.

Yeah, I really don't think a large number of people got the stuff for free. At least not in America. Only the insomniacs.

On the contrary, I pre-ordered from Gamestop. I just don't see why everybody's upset - nobody's lost anything because of this. Be happy for those who managed to get the stuff, as they're essentially giving the middle finger to such obnoxious marketing practices.
I've been saying for some time now that retailer-specific DLC and promo items are garbage - saying it since before Dragon Age inundated us with such things, in fact.

Here's someone with some sense. I DLed the Terminus Armor as a plan B. I heard GS was running out of pre-order codes due to their ****ty employees selling them on ebay or some such.  Now when I go to gamestop tonight and they sell me some crap about how they don't have enough codes, instead of stabbing somebody I can just go home and have it on my xbox.

You are an IDIOT.

I wouldn't believe a single thing you say, BULL****.

This is how you justify downloading the dlc, because you would stab someone if you couldn't get a code.

Get a grip.

This is Fubared Bioware. I request a response from official channels ASAP. I am purchasing collector's edition yet you offer the content up for free. Where is the benefit to your customers. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Yes I know it's something stupid but I run a business and this is no way of running it!

i never said people SHOULD have gotten it for free. thats just how it worked out. it was only working from like 3 to 4 in the morning CST, so its not like a lot of people got it and itll effect their numbers. it was just clever thinking n 'sploitin by darth1337. henceforth every january 25th is Darth1337 day

Even in Europe this was mostly during mid-day/late morning so people were either at work (and our own insomniacs were still sound asleep). The damage is probably very minimal.

This came up earlier - did you purchase the CE only for the armor and weapon? Or for the behind the scenes, comic book, steel case etcetera? If the former, you were getting ripped off well before this happened. If the latter, no need to be so upset, because you're still getting a ton of exclusive stuff.

Guys, let's be honest...does anyone actually think that these armors will be the best in the game? Bonus armor/weapons usually are only good near the start, and better stuff usually comes soon enough. I bought CE but I don't care how many people got the same DLC for free. Good for them! This isn't worth throwing a fit about...

First off, don't **** at Bioware.  They didn't offer the content for free.

Microsoft is the one who ****ed up.  **** at them for accidentally (Yeah right) posting up the content for free.

I'm not expecting compensation myself, but I'll admit I'm a bit annoyed.  I especially feel for those who preordered from gamespot as there are now people who didn't who got the terminus stuff.

NO ONE, payed extra for any of that DLC, it was all free. if you got the CE, then you paid ten extra dollars, but you didnt pay for JUST the armor and gun, you paid for all the extra stuff. collectors editions havent always come with DLC

Tell that to Dragon Age I used the armor for most of the game, but you still had to buy the rest of any ways.

I believe you 100%
Im just wondering if ME2 codes are going to be downloaded through XBL or the social site. No way to know until you get the codes in your hands, but it could very well be XBL, given that the items showed up there.

The codes will probably be done through the game or social site - they probably just link to the XBL downloads anyways, but with different authentication procedures. That's how Dragon Age works, at least.

dont blame bioware, blame microsoft. your benefit was all the additional stuff in the collectors edition. and nobody OFFERED it up for free, someone found the URL's and exploited it.
