I just got to the point where I got Sera and Viv added to my possible party member choices. So one's a rogue and one's a mage, with no attribute points spent yet. On the surface, it appears that there's absolutely no difference between the starting companions and other companions you might get. And don't say "Varric with the crossbow", because I immediately respecced him to a stealth/dagger rogue.

At any rate, I've read bits and pieces from websites here and there about how certain companions have different abilities and/or different stats, such as "high magic stat" (though no details). Or one being a necromancer. So my point is: Does anyone know of a website that gives a definitive list of abilities and differences between all possible companions?

Each companion will gain access to one of the nine specialization trees at some point in the game. My Skill trees thread has links to all of the info on those http://forum.bioware...ill-tress-here/

Stats are connected to abilities and gear, I don't think any are companion specific other than maybe the race bonuses.

There are two basic 'combat' trees and two basic 'support/skill' trees per class.  All rogues have access to the same trees.  You can spec them however you want.

Each companion has a unique specialization class that is only for them.

Warriors:

Cassandra - Templar

Iron Bull - Reaver

Blackwall - Champion

Rogue:

Varric - Artificer

Sera - Tempest

Cole - Assassin

Mage:

Solas - Rift Mage

Vivienne - Knight Enchanter

Dorian - Necromancer

Your inquisitor will choose one of these specializations as well, so you should probably choose one that aligns with a companion who you aren't going to be using much.

Hope that is helpful.
