You don't need to have sex to love and show love for someone, you can have a chaste romance with Dorian. I personally believe that Solas' romance was one of the most mature and beautiful, and it just fit that it was supposed to end the way it did. Just head canon it, you don't need an animation to prove it.

Again with the p0rn! It´s like this forum is flooded with bible belt kids who think romantic intimacy equals public intercourse.
I don't understand how people here fail to grasp a fundamental concept and that is this :-
If violence, death, gore, horror and vulgar language are not implied and instead is direct in this game, why is sex alone implied ? When has sex become something that is worse or more taboo than violence, death, gore, horror and vulgar language to deserve its implied status ? Are we living in some primitive religious fundamentalist society or something ?
As I have said before, this is most likely a cultural continent thing. This game is made in North America after all, a continent that is home to prudes, bible belt mentality and sex hypocrisy.

A fade-to-black ala DA2 would honestly be my preferred way of doing things. With dialogue options beforehand (for romances where it makes sense, not one like Bull's for example) to say 'no I'd rather not do the dirty with you.'
That way, those who want physical intimacy can have it. Those who don't want it, don't have to.
Well then we agree on that at least.

Preferences that makes no logical sense in a modern world...as I have demonstrated with the statement in bold font...
I seriously cannot believe that I, someone from Southeast Asia, Malaysia to be specific (which is an Islamic country) who came from a traditional devout Hindu family, have enough sense to be more open towards sexuality and portrayal of sex in the media as opposed to Westerners...
The world really is going mad...

What's really going mad is the fact that people are making sure a big deal outta this
Josephine doesn't have a sex scene, so what? I would've liked if there was a option to have one, but it doesn't make her less of romance option because of it

I'm sure there's an arrogant something-centric statement that could describe the above.
So I'll just stick with "Someone has a preference that's not mine! What is the world coming too!?" ![]()

I think the female and Cullen one to be romantic.
So far he is the only one I have completed and obviously I am very happy with it. Well see what happens in second game as a Male.

No. Asexuals are male, female or anything in-between. Asexuality has nothing to do with gender. Josephine is bisexual and can be seen as asexual or sexual.
Or demisexual.

I'm from Thailand, your northern neighbour, I'm an atheist from a liberal family who advocates sex before marriage, and I would respectfully disagree with you.
Seriously, people have different preferences. I'm asexual. I love Josephine's romance the way it is. Maybe it's not to your taste, and I'm sorry to hear that. But it's to other people's tastes, and you have no right to say they are not entitled to their tastes, or that they have no sense to do so. Or that they're immature, or broken, or wrong.
Now, on the subject of Josephine's romance.....
Calling Josephine's romance 'not a romance' because it has no visible sex is....well, short-sighted at best. As long as it has romantic love, it's a romance. Why does it make no logical sense? I fail to see this. If anything, it makes more logical sense in the modern world now than the old world, because you're no longer bound by practical requirements to have kids and reproduce. In the modern world, logically no one should GAF who you bang or whether you bang or not. Having kids is not a requirement. Reproduction is not a requirement. I say this as a career geneticist.
And yep, you can be straight while being asexual. It's call heteroromantic asexual.
And you can be straight and sexual while preferring to take your time and relationships more slowly, too.
Josephine's romance aims towards these two groups, I believe. If you want your relationships fast and matter-of-fact on the physical front, then that means that Josephine just isn't your ideal romance. Too bad, reroll, go for Cass or wait for the next game.
But don't say that it's not a romance, or that people are broken and nonsensical or overly religious or whatever-have-you for liking it. It's just not what you want. Accept it and move on with life.

Romanced Sera and Solas so far. My vashoth gal was definitely boning Sera, though the scene faded to black before any clothes came off. With Solas it's only kinda implied, if you squint I guess, but that didn't really bother me. What did though is that he said he'd explain why it was "not right" after I killed Corypheus but he just went away instead and never actually explained me so now I kinda want to track him down in an expansion and get my Lavellan some explanations, and the option to tell him that she actually doesn't mind his reason (I actually head canoned that she felt something special magic wise about him and it's part of her attraction)

I romanced Dorian. I was surprised at how much I liked him and the romance (not done with the entire game though). However, I would be lying if I said their scene was as hot as Kaidan and MShepard. The Mass Effect team know how to do a hot love scene that is for sure and I hope they keep it up for ME4. This fade to black thing doesn't work for me. I understand sex isn't everything but when you don't have much dialogue and interactions with the companions, a good romantic sex scene can really make up for that.

Could easily added the sex scene and another choice to skip to fade to black. Everyone then be happy. Why aren't the preference for people who want to see the sex scene get acknowledged? There could be physical intimacy in her romance, you just don't see it. Some people prefer it that way, and why shouldn't their preferences get acknowledged?

aww man not this thread again ;-;
I never said they shouldn't be acknowledged. But saying that the romance 'isn't a real romance' because there's no sex scene is just silly. Which is the whole reason I replied to this thread, and in hindsight maybe I shouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole.
I have no issue with sex scenes but they should be optional. I'd still pick the 'sex scene' option. I just want people who dislike/don't want sex scenes to not be forced into them.

6 out of 8 LIs have explicit sex scenes and 7 of 8 Lis reference that they have sex with you in DAI alone. Other games have it as part of every romance. So you are getting acknowledged. Meanwhile this is the first time in years my preference is acknowledged.

I don't care what other people have. According to Bioware, most people only play the game once, so they can only choose one romance, and their romance is not the same as everybody else. Like I said, have the fade to black for those who want it and sex scenes for those who want to see the sex scenes, everyone's happy.> Why aren't those who prefer sex scenes getting sex scenes?

Im glad they finally added boobs though. Everyone has nipple not that big of a deal. It makes it seem more real. I thought Blackwalls sex scene was amazing. Solas' romance is quite sad, even more sad given the end of the game....Sera's is what you'd expect from a crazy ass elf, iron Bull is funny, but not really meaningful, havent played Josephine, seems quiet boring, Cullen was like the Alistair of the game, haven't played Dorian but it look sweet.
It's like they only care about you in the cutscenes, no party banter about your relationship ( except Solas's)
I want a relationship where they actually care if I'm hurt in battle or not, or are atleast more affectionate. How about instead of us gonig to them, they come to us. Why do we have to do everything. I want to be pampered like a princess.

The animator Richard had enough on his plate when doing her romance, so he wouldn't be happy. Neither would the writer Sylvia or the VA Allegra since they and Richard didn't like the idea of having one otherwise there would have been one. And those who enjoy the scenes that took the place of the sex scene wouldn't be happy since those scenes wouldn't exist. So no, everybody would not be happy.

If all you want is a cut to black, you have it. So why are you still complaining?
All three have said on the Josephine forum they are glad they did it this way and a sex scene wouldn't fit as well.
Also as I added, those who like the scenes that took the place of the sex scene wouln't be happy because those scenes wouldn't exist.
