So, the issue is, that some characters don't necessarily jump into your bed and won't publicly display if they do so? Oops... maybe they are not that sort of people.
Maybe your given character don't make them react in that given way. That is kind of the point of role play.

Of course a preset game can never reach the level of perfect role playing, but it tries to model it. And there are quite a few things that we do in our heads only, and are not displayed, but still exist. They are at times simply implied, but not actually shown, like you washing the bloodied clothing after returning from battle, or cutting your fingernails. Laughing at people who pray or spending your daily prayers with some npcs, training between battles, and sleep... and occasionally sleep with your partner in game.

What I think some people might miss is the fact, that these romancable characters have a certain personality on their own, and if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit with you, but it doesn't mean, they should be different. The thing I personally like the most is when characters have their integrity and don't change just because the player finds it more comfortable.

You can dislike the character, you can dislike that she or he doesn't coddle you enough, or isn't attentive enough or fast or slow enough. But that is kind of like that in RL too, and this makes the characters feel more real.

The game has more options then most other games I have seen and more content for the individual options then the previous games. Just don't demand to have a certain character in a certain way, since their personality, unlike the inquisitior's, is not determined by you or me.

I enjoy the ones I have, though not all my characters can mingle with everyone. Some of my chars fit to some, and others fit to others. This gives diversity.

Obviously having 10 times the content would be cool, having 100 times the content would be super cool, but we got a lot in this game compared to others. I personally value it.

I want the sex scene for everyone as well as fade to black for those who choose not to. There is no scene that took place in place of the sex scene. I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

No, you don't. You said earlier you don't care what other people have. You just want one for you.

Yes there is. The Josephine romance uses just as many resources as the other romances, therefor the resources that would have gone to the sex scene went to other scenes, particularly

6 out of 8 LIs have explicit sex scenes and 7 of 8 Lis reference that they have sex with you in DAI alone. Other games have it as part of every romance. So you are getting acknowledged. Meanwhile this is the first time in years my preference is acknowledged.

It's unfortunate they picked the demographics that were already touchy about the Romances to start stealth appealing to other demographics. They couldn't add the asexual romance to one of the 4 male LIs. Now male hetero-verisexuals (and female ******-verisexuals) have... one option.

And for males it's Cass. Joy.

That's what I have gone with, but personally could care less what other people have in their other game, I care about what I have if I have to romance that person, that's why I want everyone to have both options which will give everyone equal options so keep putting words in my mouth, it's very amusing. So you know how the scene content is distributed? The sex scene would have been there if it wasn't for that part? Didn't know you work at Bioware. Bring me there sometimes. lol. You're doing a lot of speculation without anything to back it up.

I am not sure I quite comprehend this. This is the first game I met (provided I am not excessively knowledgeable), where straight women have more options, then others. I was surprised and while I felt some sorry for straight males, I also think that having 2 options is what usually games offer. Here the others have more. But this might be due to demographics and customer habits? I for one would not replay the game to kill a dragon for a second time for the life of me. But I am more then happy to pay pre-order a game if I know my replay value is increased with extra inter-personal content (be it romantic or non romantic for that matter). So maybe it was more a matter of customer demographics and buying motivations then preferences, however this is just a speculation/guess on my part.

Well, as a demisexual I am very glad they put it in.

Though they said that if people want to think they have sex that they can think that, so those people still have two options. One just doesn't have a sex scene.

Yes, because the animator told me in the Josephine thread that a lot of time and resources went into that scene because of all the variables.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the scene that gives you the achievement where the other romances give you the achievement during their sex scene took place of the sex scene.

I can pretend a lot of things about the game. If there's nothing in the game that ever acknowledges it, however, it takes all the fun out of it.

Yep. Seeing is believing.

If implied is something that is so great and should be catered to, why don't we have implied combat ? Why don't we have implied crafting ? Why don't we have implied exploration ?

Because if we had that, its not going to make for a good game.

Implied is a cop out.

lol!! I don't get what's so confusing about what the OP is saying. It seems to me like he's just saying he wants some hot sex scenes but if asexual/implied sex lovers want to skip it then the option can exist. Seems like it'll be the best of both worlds to me.

We do. Or is the implied death of Duncan at the start of Dragon Age Origins a bad thing? It's called nuance and it's something that is present in a lot of art and so if one or two romances aren't explicit it's bad. Seriously I'm a gay woman I've got the same number of romances as the straight males and you won't ever hear me complaining about the fact Josephine doesn't have an explicit sex scene.

I must admit I am getting to old for all this. WTf demi, asexual, gay, straight, lesbian and any other thing I may have missed. I dont care what your sexual orientation is.  Keep it to yourself. play the game, become interested in whatever interests you. This is not Real Life, so go experience a real relationship.  May be time to drop this forums posts.

There are no personal issues in that post. Though if you don't want derailing, why not say this to the person who posted the post I was replying to? They posted that offtopic comment over 20 minutes before I replied.

Because you were baiting people by mentioning "demisexuality" in this thread first. You do that several times in several other threads already, so I know you want to bait people into talking about it. Take it elsewhere.

I wasn't baiting at all. It only came up when someone else brought up verisexual. Sorry if you thought otherwise.

"Inquisitor, come quickly! The Breach is getting bigger! Demons are pouring out of the Fade and ravaging the countryside!"

"Ehh. I'm just not into it."

"But you're the only one who can save us all! You bear the mark! You're the Herald--"

"Yeah, yeah, sure. But who do I get to have sex with?"

"I...  What?"

"Who do I get to have sex with? Cassandra's not hot enough -- don't tell her I said that -- and Josephine just wants to hold hands. I'm not into it."

"Lord Trevelyan, there's literally a pride demon eating the quartermaster."

"I didn't get any flirt options with her. Not my problem."

"Maker help us all."

I planned on trying Sera in my next playthrough. For the moment, yesterday, I finished Cass' romance and that was great! I really enjoyed it....  Reading poetry and how Cass is was delighting.

I'm actually very excited to hear that each of the romances seem unique and different in structure, content, and tone. I am actually hoping, over the next few months / years (I am a very -slow- gamer, lol!) to play through the game numerous times to complete each romance at least once for myself. I can somewhat understand that people may get to the end of the specific pairing and be disappointed with the results--unless one wishes to look at spoilers, there is no way to know for certain what's going to happen or whether it will meet a specific player's personal preferences and tastes.

But do we really want it to be that predictable? Is fulfilling some form of pre-set formula really alright if it goes against the nature of a specific character outside of their romance subplot? I'm not sure these are things I would personally be willing to agree to.

Beyond that, I think that the key issue that some people seem most dis-satisfied with is what is generally referred to as heat level. (Did they or didn't they have sex? How explicit was it? What kind of tone did it have? etc.) And again, what I will be looking for is whether it seems appropriate for the mood and context of the rest of a pairing's romantic interactions. To simply say something is right or wrong, better or worse, because flesh / sex / whatever was or was not shown is, to me, to miss a much larger and more important matter. (Was the overall romance good? Did it flow properly? Was it authentic to the characters? Did it make sense?)

Then again, I may be thinking far too much about this and reading far too much into it. (I write fantasy and paranormal romance novels for a living--so I really love the whole Varric being a novelist thing. Amuses me to no end.) But I thought it might be fun to at least share my views on the subject, since I thought this discussion was quite interesting.

If nothing else, it seems to me that if one looks hard enough there is a pairing and overall romance arc that will work out for pretty much every taste and preference. I think that's quite admirable.

I'd add travel is implied as well and no one is complaining about having the fast travel ability between camps? Or how about the war table operations? How one gains the resources isn't shown, it's implied to have happened.

Personally, it disturbs me a bit how people seem to view sex as a prize for clicking all the right buttons? I'm sure there are plenty of other games out there if people want to check all the boxes to see boobs.
