Sounds stupid but I can't work out how I wallbash to get into hidden areas

Warriors can bash walls
Mages light veilfire
Rogues pick locks

I know that but I have two warriors In my team and I'm sure I've came across walls I can smash but not been given the option. Do I need an ability or go further in the story?

In DA:O, mages used to know how to throw giant boulders. I guess they forgot how at the same time they forgot how to heal.

I'm not a hundred precent sure on this but I think strength has a bearing whether or not you can bash through a wall. I use Cass as my tank and she can shield bash through a wooden wall no problem but can't through brick ones, so I'm assuming that once she gets to higher level or acquires more gear that adds strength bonus she will then be able to bash through brick. At least that's what I'm thinking.
