This happened to me earlier today. I talked with Sera to do her companion quest ("The Verchiel March"). This warped us to a location in the north of Crestwood. We kill the guy, and then -- nothing. I wander all over the place, trying to find a way out, but it was impossible.

I finally quick-traveled to a camp, tried to approach the location from the outside, but my guess is that it's a spot reserved for that quest and that quest alone, so it's inaccessible otherwise. Which, whatever. The only problem is... I couldn't access the world map either, just the location map. I wandered around, found Red Jenny's cache kind of by accident (I noticed there was a quarry or something near there, thought I might as well pick it up) and after that, the only way for me to escape Crestwood was by using the "exit" in the south of the map.

I went to talk to Sera in Skyhold after that, she had a bit to say about what happened but not much. When I looked the quest up online, it said that there was supposed to be a cutscene after the end of the battle and that we would then be warped right back to Skyhold, which definitely didn't happen. :( Now I'm worried I missed something....

Anybody else have something like this happen? Incidentally, when I did Dorian's companion quest, the first time I entered the Tavern in Redcliffe, nothing happened. It was completely empty, but no cutscene triggered. I had to leave and re-enter for the scene to load properly, which I would have happily done for Sera too except that wasn't an option.

FWIW I'm on PC.

Same issue. Just abandoning the quest for now.

Same problem here, also on PC. I guess that also spoils her romance? :\

Oh man, does it? I wasn't going for her, but that would suck for people that did want to romance her.

I had this problem.  Then I noticed there was a noble standing by one of the gate posts near the fight.  He was really hard to spot.  You need to start a dialogue with him and then it completes.

Anyone else get this to work?  I've been looking for this noble, and can't find him.

EDIT: Hah ha!  Found it.  Manuevor the fight over near the bottom of the hill, and as soon as the fight ends you'll be able to see and hear him.  Once the ambient dialogue is over, click on him fast!  He despawns if you wait to long.

Thanks for the tip, rift.

He despawns? And I was allowed to fast travel out of the area without talking to the guy? That's seriously not right. I've already progressed super far beyond that point and I don't care about Sera enough to try to redo the quest, but that's some bad design if essential plot NPCs can despawn before the quest is completed.

I tried this and it did not work. I never saw him spawn and I still couldn't hear him. At this point, I'll probably just have to ignore it and keep going.

Ah I am losing a lot of gameplay if I can't find a way out of Crestwood.  I haven't saved in forever (but just learned my lesson), it has already autosaved out of the area and I can't find a single exit.  I searched the south-side.  Any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Found an exit to the left to the screen, thank bajeezus....

I got hit with this bug too. Fortunately I only lost 45 minutes of gameplay. It could've been a lot worse.

Not sure if this was a coincidence or not, but I was testing out this quest because the first time I did it, it worked but I wanted to go back and see something I missed, when I went back it didn't work.  I found that if I chose the first or the last dialogue choice when the young man runs up to you the noble guy doesn't spawn at all after the fight.  However, every time I picked the middle choice, about how you pretty much aren't surprised that it all went wrong, after the fight the noble would spawn.  Again, not sure if this will work for everyone, but for some reason each time I tested this theory it worked for me.

So I've had this issue as well. I know where he is ment to spawn and his dialog (in subtitles, without anything spoken.) will show up after the fight finishes but he simply wont spawn. Could we get a dev to throw us a console command or something?

I'm going to bump this up as well because nothing I try seems to make a damn difference. Subtitles for his ambient dialogue will appear on the top of my screen but no sound will play and he won't spawn anywhere as far as I can tell. Abandoning the quest for now but dammit I hope BioWare patches this soon.

I'm having the same issue. I fight the battle in Crestwood, and once it's finished it appears Sera is trying to talk to someone, but no one is there. Then nothing happens, and I'm stuck. Have to reload a previous save.

I had this problem too, only I was unable to leave the zone.

I could see the noble's dialogue subtitles, but couldn't see or hear him. I reloaded a couple times and eventually ran through the bandits with my Inquisitor and saw him leaning against the post.

This bug screws up this entire area from that point on. No access to World Map (which isn't the worst thing ever)...but it also seems to prevent bandits from spawning elsewhere in the area, so the "Weeding out Bandits" quest is un-completable.

What i found works for me is only bringing Sera along, no other companions. Somehow that makes him spawn correctly.

I got around it by choosing the middle dialog option, running over to the noble at the beginning of the fight and staring at him while my very op teammates mopped up the baddies.

I had the same issue, subtitles but no voice or character. I fixed this issue by making the quest my current objective and taking ONLY Sera with me. The noble then never despawned for me. Hope this helps.

Yep,

Same bug here.  PC version.  Landed in the little culdesac with Sera, Cass and Bull.  CHose the humor dialogue ( it's a religion ), killed the baddies and...stuck...no map to get out...no exit...lost an hour of gameplay.

They need to get this one fixed.  It's pretty easy to replicate...not like having all your companions decide they don't want to talk to each other. ;-)

Same issue here.  None of the above helped.  I got it to work once on a previous character (after 2 tries), but I've tried 10+ times on my second character and no dice.  The NPC never appears.

I had this problem, but I think I found a way around it. In the display options turn off vertical sync. After I turned off vertical sync the noble has spawned every time for me. Before I turned it off he didn't spawn once for me.

I might have found another solution: I originally used the command line options (-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+) to disable the 30 FPS lock in cutscenes. When using these the noble did never spawn (5+ attempts), effectively locking me in the quest area.

I then started Inquisition *WITHOUT* these command line options, and he spawned as intended on the first try.

I hope this might help in some cases at least - the problem might not be entirely tied to the FPS lock.
