Until now I assumed that quest was purely stupid. I never knew Lord Woolsely was a rage demon. I just assumed the farmer was crazy. One time I did accidentally kill him though when bandits attacked. I must not have noticed the rage demon because everything was so chaotic. I remember some bears joined in the brawl too.

Yes. Note: I said purely stupid. I initially thought it was just locating a missing ram. At least there's a twist behind it, and one with a magical emphasis.

His first mistake was wanting to be a friendly prey animal in the woods with hunters and bears running around.
I remember some bears joined in the brawl too.
Those bears are pure evil. Always sneaking around the woods waiting until you are distracted. Then they will strike or just randomly spawn right next to you while you are still battling something else.
Sometimes they'll even wait right outside your camp and ambush/maul you as soon as you step outside.
