Important information to those who desacrated the tombs: The Golden Halla quest can be done. I did desecrate the grounds and entered the catacombs, at first the halla didn't appear but I pushed reputation as high as possible by doing other quests and came back to the marker only to spot a regular white halla disappearing in the distance - apparently that was the one. It looks just like a regular one but has golden antlers (the difference can only be seen whn you're up close).
Hope this helps all those people who can't stand having unfinished quests in their log - like me.

I desecrated the tombs and killed the Golden Halla before I found the Dalish camp. I have found the brother and told sister he was brave, the last thing I was able to hand in was the great bear pelts, and now I can't do anything else at that camp. My favour is nearly full too.
I have found the Emerald Knight dungeon location and exausted the dialogue there, nothing else I can do there, I cannot go inside.

This quest seems bugged for me also. After speaking with other people with the same issue, we came to the conclusion that what's bugging this quest is if you ask the Keeper if Loranil can join the inquisition before your favor is high enough. You only seem to get the option to ask him once so if you do it too early well, that's it.
Here's what I did in details:
I desecrated the tombs but before reaching the Dalish Camp so when I spoke with the Keeper I still got +3 favor. I unfortunatly killed the golden halla by mistake also before reaching the camp which gives me an eternal ! on the guy giving that quest and he doesn't say anything beside that I'm welcome in the camp, etc. I also told the sister about the blood magic. With all of this I had maybe 65-70% of the bar filled up before doing the bear pelts. And this is where I asked the Keeper to let him join and he said never.
After this I did the pelts and the Knight Tomb in the Emerald Graves which gave me finally about 95% approval but there's no option to ask the Keeper to let him join again....
So basically, save before trying to ask the Keeper. If he says no, reload and get your approval higher. I dont think you can really tank the quest if you don't ask the Keeper too early because even if you picked all the bad choices in the Exalted Plains you should still get enough with the Tomb in Emerald Graves, assuming of course you give the documents to the Dalish and not the Chantry.
If you asked him too early like me though, yeah the quest is impossible to finish.

I can confirm that it can be done even if you desecrate the graves and tell the dalish woman about blood magic but do everything else (including bringing information from Emerald Graves to the Keeper). Did it on my previous playthrough. The Keeper is a bit bugged probably, because he didn't give me option to ask about letting Loranil join after dalish favor being maxed/almost maxed (I also asked him previously and he said no), but if you go talk with Loranil directly he'll say that now he is allowed to join the Inquisition and you can recruit him.

I guess I just might be extremely unlucky, this didn't work for me. Loranil doesn't tell me anything different and I only have the "I should go." option with him.....Oh well.

I'm having a problem similar to this. My Dalish approval rating is solid but when I try to talk to Loranil (or anyone else in the Dalish camp) I get no dialogue options. They stand up and say their line and they have a little speech bubble above their heads but I can't say anything. I tried talking to the keeper and he told me I could recruit Loranil, and interacting with Loranil prompts the "I'm allowed to join" dialogue, so I should be able to finish the quest, I just have zero dialogue options showing up on screen despite obviously being in a conversation.
I've tried repeatedly interacting with them in case it was prompting the conversation because I just walked by or something, and I've reloaded/left the area and come back...but, nope. Nothing changes. I can approach and interact with anyone in the camp, but no dialogue options pop up.
I did ask the keeper about recruiting Loranil (hours and hours ago in game play) so maybe that's the issue for me too?

Unfortunately yes. If you kill the Golden Halla...or if you desecrate the holy graveyard...then you can never finish this quest. As per the Prima guide, this will be an "impossible to finish" quest. It won't even show as failed.
By Andraste's ass I ****** desecrated that ****...

I desecrated the graveyard. Still finished the dalish favor quest. I did every requisition, found the guy that ran away, the golden halla, and cleared the demons out of the graveyard.
Dunno if it was a bug, but after clearing the demons out and them desecrating the graveyard, it gave +3 for demons, -3 for desecration and ended up being a wash out. There were just enough quests to get me Dalish favor.
Also- don't know if you find out what really happened at red crossing and give it to the Dalish instead of selling it to the chantry of that earns any favor but I thought it seemed like it might. I had already completed the quest when I gave them the reds crossing stuff.

when you open the tombs, it automatically reduces your favor with them for this quest however, later on in the game during the 'emerald tomb' quest, you will find an artifact you can bring back to them and ultimately recruit the elf here. Just keep playing.

ok so I dont read the prima guides, but if this quest can never be done becasue I desicrated the tombs, then please mark the mission as failed and remove it from my quest log.
It can be completed even if u don't complete and get all favor from the original quests from just the by the grace of the dalish. Later in the story ull get a quest called the knights' tomb, just choose to return the scroll the the dalish. Complete quest. For all the get frustrated easily. Be patient look around take ur time. It makes the game better and worth the 60$ u dropped into it. Remember its just a game and there is always a way

I desecrated the tombs and still got Dalish Grace to full. You have to keep supplying the herbalist with supplies like elfroot and bear pelts.
I didn't desecrate the tomb or kill the Halla or bring the Halla to Camp. The key is supply elfroot /bear pelts and you can say something positive about the elf teen who died for a +2 Dalish favor.

Not sure it's been mentioned but is everyone getting the item from the cave near the graveyard and giving it to the dead Elfs sister?
Yes. That is a good one and don't forget telling her the teen died bravely for +2.

I completed this quest with descrating the graveyard, but the Golden Halla is the one that I almost lost the need favor point from. When I saw that Ironbull killed it, I reloaded my last save and got it.
I wonder if the Golden Halla has a very rare unique drop to it; just curious.

I did not get much from doin the quest, but I'd rather do all quests and beat the game, remember not all see the same end result as the game has many possible endings depending on the choices made throughout. It will have quite a few endings and results for several plays. Personally I'm glad as it is worth spending the money on this game enev if it was brand new.

My first run I inadvertently desecrated the graves and was still able to finish the quest. However, the safest thing to do is complete the quest and then go back later if you want to break into the tomb.
Absolutely the worst thing to do is tell that woman her brother was using blood magic. They can't handle the truth and you take a big hit of -3 on Dalish favour, which I believe is impossible to make up thereafter.
You can accidentally kill the golden halla if it runs past while you are attacking something else. You may not even realise you have done this. Not sure if this prevents finishing the quest though.

By doing the quests in that order, I have never encountered a problem with getting favor. I always go to the Dalish camp first when I go to the exalted plains so that I can get access to the Dalish Trader that has the tier 2 schematics. I have never accidentally killed the Golden Halla either. I did do it on purpose once because it made me mad, then reloaded my save.
And I am pretty sure that the Devs would not make it impossible to complete a quest because you accidentally kill a special halla or desecrate a tomb. They did make it so there is just enough favor to get the quest done, even if you did things to mess up other quests. You have to give the account of red crossing that you get from the knight's tomb in the Emerald Graves to the Dalish to make it work though.

How many points do you get for giving them the information on Red Crossing? As I say above, the deduction for telling them the kid used blood magic is -3. I usually leave telling her about him until after I've done all the other quests, just to see if it makes any difference on completion of Dalish Favour. Latest run the only thing left was great bear pelts, which if it is like other requisitions will only earn me +1. I tried telling about blood magic and got -3. I gave her the amulet and this pulled me back up a bit but I was still some way short, so the bear pelts would not have been enough to get me over the threshold. By not telling her about the blood magic, I completed without needing the bear pelts.
So far as I could see, simply choosing "teenagers are stupid" (middle option) earned me +1 and handing over the amulet +1.
If I told about the blood magic, that was -3 and I was already 2 short of the total I needed. Amulet would earn me +1, bear pelts +1 and so I would still be 1 short of making up the blood magic loss, with 2 more needed after that. So does giving them the Red Crossing info earn you +3? Otherwise it can't be done if you choose blood magic option.

The DAI wiki says that mentioning blood magic to Valorin's sister gives a -2 and giving the account of red crossing gives +3 to Dalish favor. I always tell her that teenagers are stupid and get the +1 for it, so I am not sure if that is accurate, but the +3 for returning the history to them is right. How many points do you get for giving them the information on Red Crossing? Hello guys. I had the same problem but decided to continue with the game. To gain enough favors from Dalish, you will need to completed a quest call "The Knight's Tomb".
After you acquire an artifact containing the history of "The Death of Elandrin," you will have two options.
1) Sell the histories to the Chantry, or
2) Return histories to Dalish. Doing so, he will give you +3 favor points.
I think it was the "blood magic" answer that messed me up but I'm glad this Elandrin quest fixed my problem & I was able to recruit the Elf at Dalish camp.
Hope this helps. ![]()
